Do you bitter critters still think PS5 is cemented as PlayStation's worst generation?

Since I already have a PC what would I need a PlayStation for?

Okay but what if someone already had a ps and was content with it?

edit: and don't make a joke about how they have low standards because I just beat you to it!

"bro i bought another ps5"
That's not what I said! Neither of them suck. The first party games suck.

Sony 1st party? Hell yes.

Generation as a whole is better for everyone though due to multiplats and indies, regardless of what system you play on. I think everyone has plenty to play on any system this gen.

If they are already invested in the ecosystem of course it makes sense for them. I said that in my first post. It's also a viable option for new players that don't want to game on a PC.

But for me? No, there's no reason because I've been investing in PC for over 20 years and shoddy ports are far less common.

Are these legit critiques?

I bought a PS5 but didn't own it for long. Mainly because I didn't have the time to game then. Only played and beat Uncharted 4 and made it half way through Spider-Man Remastered. Both good games but nothing genre-defining, just in my opinion.

I did have every exclusive i missed from the PS4 era I wanted to play at some point, but I don't know if I'll ever get to them at this point in life.

So far it still is for me. Which is a shame because the hardware is good, the controller is the best yet. Just such poor 1st party output for me personally so far.

The focus on GAAS followed by multiple cancelations sure is a legit critique. In fact, imo it's the sole reason why their 1st party output has sucked so much this gen.

Concord alone was $400M, imagine how many single player games they could have funded with that... The answer is probably not many since their studios are in the west where the salaries are super high, but they sure could have funded some projects in Korea or Japan. Stellar Blade for example has an stimated budget of $50M, 1/8 of a Concord.

Only (timed) exclusive that was worth buying it for was GoW Ragnarok and that game was a big dissapointment. Now the only reason for keeping this piece of junk is GTAVI.

- Don't care about fighting games outside of Mortal Kombat, Soul Calibur and Street Fighter (when games were easy to get on sale for $20 used I would pick up a fighters easily, tekken, and all the weird ones on ps1).
Call me when we get a Bushido Blade Sequel, or a Real rpg version of Dissidia with long single player like on psp.

- FPS--- Don't like always online gaas. Or multiplayer only. Only game I really liked for that was battelfield and warhawk.
Tell me when we get a new Resistance, or Killzone, or even be able to play the original trilogies on ps4/5?
I want single player story focused, fps similar to Half-life 2 or fast paced single player like quake or doom, not cod, but that is me.

- Don't care about xbox games, I have a xbox series x and barely use it except for older og xbox games, 360 games and Stalker 2.

- Don't care about College football , or any football game really.
- Don't care about 4k, I am on 1080p as my tvs still work fine.

- Let me know when a real PS portable 2 comes out , not a rumor.

- Let me know when we actual get to play ALL OUR PS1 GAMES that people like me bought on ps3/psp/vita that sony is not allowing on ps4/5 as they don't want to pay for licensing or some bs.
Also there is no reason they don't allow ps1 discs to be played as well, all those ps1 games could be played emulated on the console easily. They could double down and sell digital copies on the store like they used to.
They don't do it becasue they don't want to spend 50cents a console for the cd-rom license.

- Let me know when more older games are backwards compatible. I can play more older games on switch than on ps5.

- Let me know when sony goes back to being japan centric and non woke (well they did release stellar blade so that shows some sign of sanity).
- Let me know when we get good indie and experimental games again like Tokyo jungle, Locoroco, Patapon, pixel junk , warhawk , wipeout etc..
- Let me know when Nathan Drake can be in his own game again without having to "pass the baton" to appease druckman.

- Let me know when games like Wipeout , Warhawk and Motorstorm are made again.

- Let me know when Rpgs and jrpgs have a 2nd golden era on the platform like the ps1/ps2 years?

- Let me know when Sony does good sales and actually drops game prices again. All 1st party games in ps3 and ps4 gens were $19.99 after a few years. They never drop price and when they do go on sale its only to like $39.99.

Sorry but outside of Astrobot this has been the worst gen for single player games on PlayStation. Maybe its great for you if you play multiplayer, but for single player and Rpgs nah. A handful, of great ones but not ps exclusive.

Astrobot was amazing though, it was a celebration of Sony's past. It's just few and far between from what I was used to in previous gens. PS1-2 and psp were the best JRPG and platforming game platforms, bar none. They also had the best fighting games. PS3 had the best FPS games and experimental games, plus the best hardware with actual less limits. PS4 they locked it up due to the psn hack but they had great games that gen. This gen has been luke warm at best.

Nintendo beat Sony this gen and Xbox got curb stomped. Without Xbox competition sony has been running roughshod. I used to be a huge ps fan, but its hard to even like the brand anymore outside of good hardware.

Sony lost an important advantage by porting games to PC. Thanks to this decision, its console became easily dispensable, I was able to sell my PS5, buy a good GPU and play the same titles in better quality on PC, the experience of everything I played was much better (like Returnal at 120fps).

Can't believe some are saying PS3…. That was their best generation for in house exclusives imo. So many unique games on that system. It started rough but the second half of its life output was amazing.

The industry as a whole is absolutely terrible and neither console is worth buying anymore imo.

Proof of all the bitterness that's blurring people's views

I never make polls & that has nothing to do with me thinking people will agree or disagree.
But if we don't agree with you we are the problem, at least if we have reasons why this is indeed the worst PS gen for first party games

"If you have to add all types of different *'s to come up with reasons why it's the worst generation you might be the problem."

I don't see how making PC ports for console exclusives is a big deal/detriment.
For those who have a PC or want to play games with better performance, there is no reason to have a PlayStation other than "convenience" (which is basically a characteristic of every console).

There is no reason to stick to a closed ecosystem that will not give you any advantages in return.

Of course, not everyone considers the PC an option and perhaps for those who think so, the PS5 may be excellent, but in a direct comparison it does very poorly since this ports initiative.

We have one example of a console manufacturer making all of their games available and available on day one. That company is now putting their logo sticker on other products and calling it an xbox. Theyd be completely out of business if they were not owned by microsoft. Thats not strategy for success.
Its been proven

Besides some shitty pc ports there is also not much of an inconvenience on pc and Sony and Nintendo is trying to kill physical so there won't be any advantages in the future.

Yes and no?
I generally like the hardware. It's quiet, the OS finally feels fast and responsive, SSD with fast loading is nice, 60fps as a mostly standard option is nice, etc. It still offers good performance for the price too, at least with PC part prices in my country.

In terms of Software though it has been pretty weak with only very few games that have interested me from first party. The only first party dev I care about these days is Team Asobi, which is kinda sad as there was a time I couldn't wait to see what we'd get next from ND, Santa Monica and Guerilla. Though I'll give credit to Sony for publishing some good games with external devs, like Stellar Blade and Helldivers 2.

I've enjoyed my time with my Ps5, but it has mostly been a third party machine for me.

I'm pretty sure that's not why Microsoft/Xbox hasn't garnened traction in the console wars.

You know it's a bad gen when you have to include things like an EA football game and a third party fighter and GTA.

I thought the general idea behind the poll was that it was mostly relating to what Sony is doing this gen. And by that account, it's by far their worst gen.

It feels a little bit like the 360, hopefully there won't be a xbone generation after it.
I think Sony learned there lesson, they wont make the same mistake of this gen that they put all there eggs on GAAS basket, but we may only see that change back to the good old PS with game development, maybe on Ps6 era or at the very least the later part of ps5 life maybe around 2028.

Now that almost everything is multiplat there's no reason to get a PlayStation unless you're already invested in that ecosystem.

The death of exotic hardware is the best thing that ever happened to Steam and the worst thing that ever happened to PlayStation. 10 years ago we would've had to buy Sony consoles for Tekken and Monster Hunter.

Current generation is the worst generation... yes.

A Specific console... no.

It's all bad, even on the PC side of life with exorbitant prices beyond what is normal for PC hardware with lesser gains per leap, let alone the general insistence of migrating all games to UE5 when the engine is still not ready for prime time use.

Well, if you read the comments thats what people are writing about Playstation. They say they dont need one because most of their games go to pc. Having every game go and go on day one would give even less of a reason.
Thats a customer base that has to wait for GTA games so they're conditioned to wait anyway
