For god's sake, can someone please hack Square-Enix, and confirm FF9 remake is real!?

My prediction
Zidane's will no longer be a catboy, just a regular human with regular Squeenix character designs.
And the girl(Garnet?) will no longer have skintight hotpants just a regular Squeenix character design.
 
My expectations for the FF9 remake got tempered when I saw the recent FF Tactics announcement. I was expecting a much bigger visual upgrade than that.

Yes it's annoying me we have no reveal yet.

I watch all these shitty State of Play's which are painful to sit through because of all the junk in them and it never comes. :(
 
It... doesn't need a remake. Cool as that fan Memoria Project tech demo was. Just instant screen transitions between areas without (or way sped up) fade out/in and other minor qol stuff.

Hot take here, but FF IX, along with Chrono Cross, are two incredibly beautiful PSX games that don't need any remake treatment.

IMO if it gets the FF Tactics treatment they can keep it.

Also, I shouldn't be a 47 year old man baby. I have entered the phase where I am so far outside of the "target audience" window that now I just don't buy anything. That somehow that makes me even angrier.
I actually have EVERY collectors edition "final fantasy thing" that has been released (including that sweet ass wonderswan color bundle) but no way in HELL am I spending $250 bucks on a collectors edition set that doesn't come with a game. FUUUUCCCCCCK YOU CLOUDS
 
There aren't many timelines where a FFIX remake is good, so maybe this is for the best. FF VII was a lot easier to pull off since it already had a realistic type art style and tons of CGI to base things on. I think IX is gonna be tough to please the majority with what they decide to make all the characters look like.
 
I don't even care at this point - if it exists it's either gonna be some half-baked effort like FF Tactics or some over-engineered focus-tested trend chasing bullshit like FFVII Rebirth.
 
The GeForce leaks already did for you. Every single Square Enix game that was on that leak has been confirmed so far except that one.
 
I was told buy Mr Squareaton Usodarake himself.. Founder and CEO.. That they changed FF9 remake to Switch 2 only which is why there is a delay in the announcement.
 
I'm with GAF. The game's on a list for which most of the other titles have come into existence. More importantly, 9's the only title in the series Squeenix hasn't milked with some kind of enhanced rerelease. A full on remake seems unlikely, but a remaster in the vein of 8's has been my assumption for some time now.

Edit: I know the Nvidia leak lists 'remake'. That... just does not seem likely. Sorry, FF9 fans.

All I know is no matter what Square does with FF9, some group of people going to be angry about it.

FF9 will probably be announced after the final FF7 remake is out.
you can't have 2 competing FF remakes at the same time.

and development is probably slower because they won't split it into multiple games like they did with FF7, because they know FF9 doesn't have the same mainstream appeal to support a full trilogy.

It's not that kind of remake.
 
A remake is cool and all but honestly I'm good with the Moguri Mod on PC. It's a good revamp of the game that does the game justice instead of those trash ports we got for PS and Switch.
