TOTK is easily a 10/10 with the Switch 2 upgrade

all the BOTW praise makes me feel like maybe I should replay it

are y'all replaying on Master or just original difficulty? I think I only put like 10 hours in my Master save, so I could pick up there, but I remember thinking the Master changes weren't fun all because everything became even more of a damage sponge but weapon durability stayed the same

There aren't any difficulty settings in Botw

Ah.....yeah, think that is DLC
I can't recall everything it did, but it did add some neat stuff like random floating platforms with enemies on it, which let you do some cool stuff if you got creative

I actually rushed through BOTW because my plan was to unlock everything in Master mode but pretty early on I had a feeling that Master mode itself needed balancing

I took a break waiting for a balancing patch to come, it never did.

so I should really revisit BOTW. I unlocked a fraction of what there was to unlock, and it actually gave me a not great ending (didn't realize your ending can change based on how many memories you unlock)

I'll give it a 9.6 out 10. :)

It's one of the best finger food games Ive ever played.

(Dont let people who say Botw is better fool you, that game is def worse they just lack the Botw nostalgia for this game..)

I am playing BOTW again, since when i bought a SW1 I thought it look like hot garbage, Now on SW2 I am finding it enjoyable. And i cant stop playing it, I am hooked!!
I will play TOTK later, in the year.

It's a game where its strength is also its weakness. The freedom is nice, but it can lead to a lot of time being wasted.
Yes, from my perception, there is two way to see how this game goes. It's either you accept to slow down and to be patient because then the second way is to believe the game doesn't respect the players time.

The enjoyment you get from the game really depends on your mood.

I don't think I was amazed at BOTW as many because WoW spoiled me on exploration. Exploring Teldrasil h Ashenvale for the 1st time, 1st time on a griffin, releazing there was an Eastern Kingdoms. Meeting random people to do dungeons with before dungeon finder, expansion areas. A near decade earlier than BOTW.

Let me re-iterate why TOTK was a bad sequel:

- Fucking Korok seeds still in the game
- Weapons still break
- No changes to combat
- Gimmicky Roblox mechanics
- Mystery of exploration from BOTW (in parts) gone
- Same tired old map
- Boring empty depths area
- Boring and repetitive open world activities

Does not sound like a 10/10 to me, no matter resolution or fps.
I never played bouth just started TOTK; should I rather play Breath of the Wild?

I love the game to death, but the upgrade is extremely lazy.
They didnt add any form of anti aliasing and made no improvements to the anisotropic filtering. These things should've taken minimal effort.

What about TotK is "lazy"?

Just say you have no idea what you're talking about lmao
Copy paste from the other thread:

They reused the same armor in the four regions.

They reused like 90% of BOTWs music even the cold theme you've heard for 500 hours in BOTW.

The UI is largely the same.

Shrines still look the same.

In the depths you get BOTW DLC armor as major reward.

The story is still told through BOTW's copy pasted memory system despite the story begging for linear story telling (you were even able to spoil yourself). The story structure is very similar, even down to going to the same 4 regions again. Cutscenes after clearing the dungeons are nearly identical (Secret stones, demon king?)

There's just one new "town" in the game.

90% of assets were carried over.

Depths and sky islands sucked and had copy pasted content over and over and over.

I have no clue how they got away with this but one thing is for certain, 15 fps, 30 fps, 60 fps, 120 fps, it doesn't matter, this is the Zelda that completely damaged my trust in the team.

IDK, I don't think it can get more lazy than this. I'm not aware of any other sequel that copies so much over from its predecessor while having new content that actually sucks. For example., GoW Ragnarok had an old map carried over but it was completely different (unlike TOTK with its few irrelevant caves and one major redesign, Eldin) and the new content was fresh and exciting while TOTK's depths and sky islands were copy paste heaven and boring.

It seems like all the effort went into the building stuff which I don't care about.

Better than botw but still nowhere near a 10.

I actually prefer BotW, and i hated that game. The new stuff in TotK just feels like it was added on without much care, which makes sense because much of the world was built prior for BotW where these abilties and features where never considered, which means only the new copy and paste sky block areas are.

They also promised a return of the classic Zelda style dungeon and never delivered lol. Much of the "new" gear added was just recycled amiibo unlocks from BotW. Despite the length of time it took to release it feels like they cut as many corners as they could, at least BotW felt like it was crafted for a specific purpose. TotK feels like its vehicles, a mishmash of parts.

I also prefered the story in BotW, I don't know what they where trying to do with TotK but it just felt overall weaker.

I still think it's fucking bullshit that they paywall performance upgrades.

But dude its tottaly justified because they spent all this time developing a mobile app to help you get all the korak seeds so the game can reward you with a golden turd.

I prefer tokt but i would not score tha game more than a 7,5 where botw was like a 6.

Tokt just has more content and the rewards for exploration are not absolute donkey shit like botw (just normal dogshit).

It was a near 9 experience for on Yuzu with the appropriate mods. It felt next gen. That said, without the dupe trick, the game is a grind fest. I mostly enjoyed it because flying was so accessible, it allowed me to explore the whole map this time. In BotW I got bored of the repetitive content and grind with limited mobility so I just headed straight to the final boss after a certain point. I got 100-150 hours out of Totk just casually exploring the world.
