Switch 2 has exclusives.

It'll run every Xbox first party game made since 2017. You know, the games an 'Xbox fanboy' would have bought the console for.

Coupled with the large Steam library, GamePass and Xbox games going forward…

Eh. At least you tried.

I'm sorry pal

It's a PC that runs PC games just like any other PC

It doesn't run Xbox software at all

Eh, At least you tried.

it does. google XEMU and Xenia.

also, many smaller games are in fact the same software on both Xbox and PC.
some UWP apps specifically can technically run on both without any specific adjustments.
that's how Emulators like PCSX2, Dolphin, Duckstation and Flycast were "ported" to the Xbox One/Series. they are UWP versions of the emulators that an Xbox can just run like it was a native port.

so there are in fact games that are on a technical level the same app on both Windows and Xbox

All Xbox first party games since 2017 are Play Anywhere. It'll run the PC versions, full cross save etc.
to the end user, no real difference.

'PC that runs PC games Just like any PC' but you were calling it a PS Portal just now

SonyGAF™ strikes again!

This, Switch 2 has exlusive games that I don't want miss out, meanwhile this thing cost $1000 (more in Canada) in order to play games that I can already play elsewhere.

Eh? Anyone buying this would be doing it for portable play.

These PC handhelds aren't a replacement for stationary consoles. You aren't going to be taking your PS5 or Series X around with you.

I'm not gonna pay $1000+(cost more than PS5pro) just to play games on portable….I didn't buy Switch/Switch 2 because it portable, I bought it because it had games I want to play that I couldn't get anywhere else.

I technically do have $300 cash money sitting on a shelf somewhere. I could probably convince the wife to look the other way on the other $300, get the shit Ally and then start my portable Alpha Protocol on GOG journey, and pick up the indies I'm missing on Steam. Tempting.

And I didn't consider emulators. Might have to turn to the dark side one of these days. Hmm.

I suspect the lower end one will be discounted quickly.

At least thats what they did with original Ally. That one came down pretty quickly, while Ally X still holds its price.

Close to $400 it would be a no brainer.

Pretty much why I led with "Anyone buying this".

If playing your games on a portable machine doesn't appeal to you, then of course you're not in the target audience for any of this, from the Deck to the Legion Go 2

I wouldn't even recommend the lower end one at $400.

Z1E Ally would be a better buy for this use case, tbh.

I'm not really in the market for handhelds, but if I was I'd save my money and put it towards Steam Deck 2.
I guess you could make an argument for these 2 devices if they allowed you to play your Xbox library natively, but they don't.

Even I was in to portable gaming, this thing way too fucking overpriced.

People here lost their mind over Switch 2's price but this thing cost way more and without a single exclusive game.

Switch 2 is the bargain of the century compared to this LOL

Even if you throw away the dock

The cheaper Ally is basically Steam Deck as far as capability is concerned. You are better off buying Zen 2 Go like Topher Topher did with Lenovo.

Yeah, I'll have to wait and see since I really don't even need this thing. I just googled that and it's $850? That's probably more than I'm willing to do for a handheld unless I was looking at the wrong thing.

Are you in CA? Could go for the less expensive Lenovo Legion models, Steam Deck or OG Ally.

I got mine on sale for $499. Black Friday coming up too.

But, but it's got a logo!
I don't care about a logo. This is an ASUS handheld. I'm open to whatever. But I do like the updated Windows stuff. Main thing I want is just ease of use. Couldn't care less about a Xbox logo. I want the software to load into the new Xbox UI though.

That will come to all handhelds. ASUS is first but eventually all the majors will get it, so Lenovo and MSI as well.

$1,000 for that? Microsoft has lost their mind. You could build a solid pc with that.

Switch 2 is aimed at a different market. The console market is defined by cheaper, subsidized hardware.

In exchange, you lock yourself into a walled garden.

This is a different model, and there's no walled garden. There's also a much bigger library available, free online gaming and a much cheaper games.

Doesn't really seem logical to compare this to a Switch 2. And if you didn't have a PC, there are games not available on console.

If wanted get in to PC gaming why the fuck I should pay $1000 for this? I can just pay little more extra to get actual PC to get full experience.

All I see from this just port machine of games I can already get else where, thats not worth $1000 no matter how you cut it.

You're not getting 80 -90% of the Z2 Extreme with the Legion Go S's Z2Go chip.

Half the number of CPU cores, older CPU generation, RDNA 2 GPU…

Nah.

Yes, you are. 20% is being generous.

It could get better with driver updates, but this proves that specs on paper don't always translate to better real world performance.
Its pathetic how little gain there is.

Steam has tons of smaller games. That never make it to consoles.

Though I imagine you are looking for tent pole releases, since you don't know that.

Edit: and you don't have to pay $1000 for this. There is a $600 model available. Previous gen ones are cheaper still.

A fucking failing console
Releasing a 1000 dollar so 1300 euro handheld?

With steamDeck being a thing? 🤣🤣🤣

Sega 32x was a better deal

Tell that to the millions of PC gamers who also bought a Steamdeck

There's a market for folks who would like to play their library on the go. And for those folks, they get what they paid for.

Portability is the main draw here. Pretty much why some folks who own a Switch and a flagship console end up buying some third party games there…even though it's unquestionably the worst place to play those games.

Do you not understand there's a difference between the Z2 Go in the Legion Go S and the Z1 Extreme in this video?

Lmao
