The trophy hunting was such a good engagement enhance during PS3 and early PS4 era.

Had a lot of fond memories doing Uncharted platinums. Now the system is just a joke.

I don't see the problem honestly. If people want to pay to play the same crappy shovelware 50 times just to get trophies, have at thee. I like collecting trophies, but for myself, I don't care if somebody has a billion more because they play crappy games.

I understand the appeal of trophies and achievements. I sometimes go after them...but in games worth playing. Why anyone would care or want trophies for random shovelware garbage, that I don't understand.

Turned off trophy notifications 10 years ago. Best thing I did.

Haven't got enough time to game as it is let alone ruin my gaming time chasing silly virtual popups that I don't care for.

Trophies/Gamerscore trash is one of the worst "innovations " to come from MS, OCD baiting, tiresome pish.

Why make a game fun to play if you make an arbitrary checklist of tasks instead.

I don't do trophies but I can see where they bring additional content to those that do like achieving something extra in games. Stuff like this though? Who wants these kinds of trophies?

You can check what games trophies come from in their profile so this doesn't matter too much. As far as I can tell you can't delete games from that trophy profile so the mark of shame stays.

So are they buying the same game multiple times? It's their money and Sony's lack of oversight for not monitoring their storefront for this practice, unless they aren't bother by it. Didn't they clean up the store because of stuff like this once before? I can't remember, but feel like I read something about it a while back.

Is this also a thing in Xbox? Like I guess one achievement games for 100 or 1000 gamerscore? Not sure what a practical equivalent is for platinum trophies to gamerscore is.

Idc about others trophies at all. I only like doing some as they can change up the way you play or see things you normally wouldn't do without seeing it's a possibility.

They can create great replay value even if you aren't going for a platinum.

I like collecting them and I think this stuff is stupid, but I collect them to extend the life of a game or do a challenge. I've said this before but trophies and achievements are just like leaderboards. I care about those too.

Shrug. Now a lot of these is still there but with a trophy to tie it together.
