Will we see Microsoft Gaming (Xbox) make anymore studio acquisitions?

It should be a meme now in any XBOX thread at this point!

Don't expect any more large ones after that ABK fiasco. They lied through their teeth to get it through then went back on nearly everything they said after it was a done deal. FTC won't fall for that again.

With the studio closures and the fact they are trying to shut down the Xbox division, I don't see any more studio purchases at least not while Xbox still exists.

Also, what governing body would let them make any more big acquisitions after seeing how badly they fucked up after buying ABK?

High interest rate + (presumably high) burn rate = no big acquisitions any time soon.

In a few years though? Absolutely.

What would be the purpose, to keep pushing Gamepass? I know MS has infinite money but at some point sunk cost fallacy fades when realization sets in, Gamepass is not the "netflix of gaming" and never will be because the media is consumed differently

I mean would the FTC even allow it? When is enough, enough.

Does it matter if MS has hardware or not? Because I have no idea. Not many purchases left the size of Activision. But I supposed smaller devs. More IPS for them to cancel.

That all depends on whether MS still believes in gaming and sees a future in it. If yes, then they'll surely buy a few more small to mid-sized studios. If not and I think that's more likely, then they won't buy anything else.

When they're no longer in the hardware space I can definitely see them buying more. But that all depends on how well the transition to full on publisher works out over the next few years.

As for them buying Sony or Nintendo. Literally zero chance of that happening.
Not just because of the Japanese government politely telling them to fuck off, but because that's too big of a risk, even for a juggernaut like MS. You're looking at around 200 billion Dollars for one.

Take 2 is possible though. Certainly not anytime soon, but in the future I can see them taking a punt at acquiring them.

They might, but I doubt anytime soon. At this point I really don't think more acquisitions is a good idea. First manage the companies you have before trying to green new ones. Which game company would trust them under Microsoft's supervision btw? Has any of them truly improved after being acquired by Microsoft?
