Only if it slipped from prior leaks. It was slated for tapeout this year remember. So a maximum of 3 months behind, but holiday seasons etc, you would think more like a month assuming it hasn't already hit the milestone.

I do think MS is going to move heaven and earth to beat Sony to market, which given they presumably won't need to scale production anywhere near as high seems feasible, but I'm tipping 2Q advantage at best. I mean as far as software goes, there are two scenarios. One is a typical console devkit closed system for devs, the other is their hybrid PC/Back compat which whilst easier for devs being 'just' a PC isn't necessarily easy for MS with all the dev and QA they need to do with actual working hardware to ensure it works like it is supposed to. I wouldn't have thought either option was like just releasing a PC the moment the silicon is on the shelf.

Thats not to mention the console also will need its own QA cycle for validating design etc. Hence even if say the silicon was by some miracle ready holidays 26, it won't have been available for extensive testing. My bet therefore, maybe late May at best. Even that relies on a lot going right first time. More likely Xbox releases in say August/Sept and Playstation in November. At which point they might decide they are too early for Christmas stockings? But maybe that doesn't matter if the price is enthusiast level.

Just worse IQ, graphics, and frame rate. Having your FPS tank that much is way worse than some mere additional stutter.

If low FPS drops like that (well outside of VRR) don't bother you, a bit more stutter likely won't either.

Xbox is dead, but if this monster is backwards compatible natively all the way back to my OGXbox copy of Black and doesn't run a Windows (I don't care how much they un-bloat it: that shit degrades like crazy) it'll be the perfect machine to say goodbye to the ecosystem while still maintaining it. Get some superior versions of third party on discount on top of that, while force bruting their performance (I think Nier: Automata was 4K on Xbox consoles?). It'll be a sad goodbye, but at least would be a proper goodbye.

UE5 mostly sucks on everything still. Overly heavy performance for the visuals you get, terrible image quality that requires DLSS and Ray Reconstruction to fix, shader stutter still occurring (although at least better than UE4), and traversal stutter on both consoles and PC (although slightly better vs UE4 at least).

It can look really good, and you can eliminate stutter on both consoles and PC, but to do that it requires a developer to heavily invest in customizing the engine and knowing what to do. Hopefully the work CDPR is putting into UE 5.6+ helps all platforms out.

There's literally no excuse for a closed hardware console environment to have major issues Vs the millions of potential PC specifications.

This does not mean that there are no issue even in the most perfect environment where devs have problems of their own making.

Shader compilation is not the only source of stutters in a game.
And even consoles can have stutters from shader compilation, if the devs don't catch all the shaders and permutations, before compiling them.

The thing that keeps making me laugh is this idea that a PC that also plays Xbox games *isn't* a PC, but a console!

Guys, that's just a PC with some sort of DRM that allows it to use console software!

Its just a PC, which definitionally will require additional locking-down in order to maintain differentiation with generic PC's.

None of the traditional console advantages, such as diverting a portion of licensing costs to subsidize the product will apply so it will cost MORE than a generic PC of the same specifications.

Then of course there's this weird situation where Xbox-branded software and PC software theoretically are interchangeable which is an interesting sales conundrum to be sure. Which begs the question how can MS sell the same product on both Xbox storefronts and Steam without one cannibalizing the other? Especially when the advantages of PC, like modding, and the ability to run on a variety of hardware configurations above and below target specs won't apply to the "Xbox" variant...

TL;DR: If it runs PC software then its a fucking PC, no matter what size the box is or how its labelled.
