These are just choices they have to make and some of them comes with trades that exceeds the usual performance gains from newer architectures.

Data types aren't a problem, but Pro introduced specific SIMD extensions for matrix math that aren't in 'standard' RDNA shader ISA.
Kepler was likely referencing this may be absent(it certainly won't be in standard RDNA5).
Flipside is of course that PS4Pro had similar custom instructions and flags that don't exist in other GPUs , and so did 1X and both were brought forward into their successors.
Likewise I expect Magnus to inherit Series X custom ops(assuming MS doesn't pull the plug).
Could the PS5 pro be an exception to that trend? Sure, but really no way of knowing until ps6 chips come out.

They did include ID Buffer hardware on PS5 which allowed easy BC of all PS4 Pro games using it. But will they include the INT8 matrix instructions on PS6? Cerny implied in his interview that they were not doing anymore custom hardware for Playstation.
For Magnus Kepler already told us that the GPU part was 100% RDNA5. But they could include custom ops on the CPU chip I guess. EDIT: Ha I just read Kepler that the xbox custom ops are going to be integrated into standard RDNA5 so making them available for Magnus. Smart. But Playstation may want to get rid of those to save die space for their GPU.

That's beyond my understanding, it took me decades to understand the deference between all 5 different human races respectively, and I made a lot of friends from every continent. That the clock speed was unsustainable, and as the generation progressed, the PS5 would lose power due to the weight of the games, forcing the console to lower its clock speeds.
Alex Bugava from DF said that the PS5 beat an RTX 2070 in Death Stranding because the game didn't use the CPU, allowing the GPU to run at its maximum clock speed. As soon as the demanding games came out, the CPU would be truly used and the GPU's performance would decrease.
And that idiot Alex Bugava still said that Cerny was the one who said it would be like that.

But to put it in context, Cerny said they had already tested the 100 most played PS4 games on the PS5's backwards compatibility.

I'm not sure I'd take that entirely at face value - the Amethyst collab probably just means it's jointly developed tech available to everyone but it could still be first (or only) in Playstation depending on the use. But it's far to say we don't know how they'll handle PS5 BC - yet.
Did he actually say that? Because that's changing the narrative a bit from that Lisa interview where there were allusions of 'special' BC extensions - and everyone concluded it could be Magnus/MS exclusive. It'd be nice if RDNA5 got all of it and we just get XBox BC on standard PCs as well.

If this is true, it makes the PS5 Pro better and the PS6 worse.
It would mean there are actually versions of these games that only work on PS5 Pro.
Base PS5 versions would look worse(mostly) than their PS5 Pro counterparts.
PS6 might have some upgrade paths of its own but by then many of the games will be old and perhaps not get a new upgrade patch, so the PS5 Pro version of some games will end up being their best console version. This is GREAT for PS5 Pro owners since it allows us access to this(what will eventually be) secret library that will inevitably and quickly be lost to time. You doubt it now but run it over your mind a few times and you will see how it makes sense.
If it isn't true, nothing changes. PS6 will be fully BC with the pro versions of these games and nothing has changed.
....but if it IS true and you are current pro owner, this is nothing but good news.
I've told you many times the reason I bought the pro isn't the upgrades, but rather dominance.
