Phil Spencer on Steam Machine Announcement: 'Helping Games Move Foward'

Gaming moves forward when players and developers have more ways to play and create, especially across open platforms. Expanding access across PC, console, and handheld devices reflects a future built on choice, core values that have guided Xbox's vision from the start. As one of the largest publishers on Steam, we welcome new options for players to access games everywhere. Congrats on today's announce.

As always, this idiot (and his zealots) try to make anything related to Xbox, like 'we thought it first!'... or 'see how we were right?' Fu*k you, you represent everything wrong on the gaming business market today.

Hardware wise it is pretty weak, it's not really going forward, it's just more accessible for those who are still avoiding VR, but other than that, it's not something groundbreaking at all, and I don't think a lot of ppl will move to VR(yes I know it's non-vr as well).

If they can price it right it could be a hit. The form factor and steamOS should be perfect for that console-like, under-the-tv usability. Could be a great choice for anyone looking to dip their toes into PC gaming.

For PS users to dip their toes in a weaker console especially when next-gen ones are almost knocking on their doors, it'll be a massive niche. For PC gamers I think this is pretty much dead, since most PC gamers have better hardware. I dont know. Could be a hit. The only thing I want from this is the steamOS to become more wide-spread so that in a few years we can just dump this dogshit windows.

lmao! he didn't even have to write this and he still did it. holy shit.

He would have called it an Xbox and be all over it if it did play Game Pass. But since it doesn't....

I bet he is very annoyed by this device as this is the real competitor to MS. Not PlayStation ( not that they were able to beat them anyway )

I live that whole 'Choice,Access blah de blah like Xbox HAS BEEN FROM THE START' FUCK RIGHT OFF Phil, there is literal physical evidence that Xbox's entire policy for the better part of 20 years was 'run Sony out the market and monopolise it' 🤦‍♂️
Gawd I hate Phil Spender. Can he please just fuck off.

Does Microsoft continue to big up Valve because they know they will own it like 10 second after Gaben leaves the scene? So Steam growth is just future Microsoft growth in their mind.

If it is priced right, I would buy one (for my mother, since her laptop, which she currently uses as a desktop replacement, is on the verge of fucking death).
We know switch2 is 450$ so that gonna be even more expensive, how much more no idea, but probably below 600$, now ofc u can do what u want with ur hard earned money, most ppl looking for lowend lappy just gonna buy some old/cheap/used one for 200-300$ or so.
It definitely cant compete even with midrange modern desktops/highend laptops specswise so cant be priced too highly- 8gigs vram gpu made sure it cant be anything else but lowend in 2026 and beyond
