Jez Corden - Day and Date is Coming (Sony on PC)

I think its just logical at this point.
Its literally cash on the table.

The ps5 user base is huge but its not growing beyond the initial base how do you then make it grow and significantly? You go to the platform withe the user base which is PC.

I do think it will be a launcher and they will probably be stubborn about it and then eventually decide to go on steam like Ubisoft Microsoft and EA before them. All of which had launchers sub services and cross saves. Steam is the best service with the best company backing them so they will need to bend the knee just like MS did when they waded into the console market.

So we have sony games day one on a steam console, nice!

It's already obvious by their "cross-buy" tag that Sony will be doing a PC storefront where you will be able to buy their games and play them on console, PC etc...that's their ultimate goal. Have their ecosystem but in all platforms available - Consoles (home and handhelds), PC and Cloud everywhere (mobile, PC, consoles).

While I still doubt this very much, at this point Sony doesn't have to worry about Xbox anymore so it does kinda make sense.
People who prefer PC will buy games on PC, people who prefer to play on consoles will almost certainly get a PS5.

If the steam console is more powerful than the xbox, then its game over for microsoft.

Xbox should release a high end console full integrated with steam.

This dude is the biggest liar of all time. He's posting about how sad it is that people want companies to die when he was writing nonstop articles and tweeting during the Microsoft/Activision hoping sony/playstation would suffer from the deal. Now he wants to act like he's a genuine fan who isn't a fanboy at all and cares about every company. Stfu.

Jez is now acting like the steam machine is a console in defense of Microsoft/Xbox going third party. This guy is such a simp and just kisses microsoft/xbox ass every chance he gets.

Cross buy wouldn't make sense for PS5/PS6 and it wouldn't be a tag added in 2025 for a console that's releasing in 2 or 3 years time. We didn't have that tag for PS4/PS5 crossgen titles as well. Makes no sense to even use it for the same platform.

I have Crossbuy games between PS3 and PS4, as well as a PS Vita.

I mean that tag. Thre's crossgen titles sure...but using "cross buy" to talk about games for the same platform and different generations isn't something Sony does. At most it could be for their homeconsole and portable...but not PS5 to PS6.

It makes absolutely no sense for Sony to allow cross-buy between PC and PlayStation for its games.

It loses a potential double sale; the customer buys it at launch on PS5 and then, when it's released, on PC.

It encourages platform switching; the person buys it on PlayStation and gets a PC version so they can migrate whenever they want.

If the PS5/PC crossbuy thing comes to fruition, that seems inevitable? I mean if I buy, say, Spiderman 3 on PS6 would I then have to wait X amount of time until the PC release to claim the PC version, or wouldn't it logically come out day and date on both platforms so I can 'cross-buy' both at the same time. I'm curious as to whether Sony retroactively applies cross buy to their existing PC releases assuming they're doing their own launcher.

Jez didn't even know what was happening with Xbox multiplatform. How would he know what would happen with PS?

You might as well be posting his sports predictions. He doesn't have a source he's just saying what he thinks will happen, and he has a terrible track record at that.

Wise words, he should tell the guy who wrote this last week

He's just speculating but he's probably right. They want a piece of the pie in China which is now an enormous market and nobody plays on console there. Customer acquisition cost to get ps5 meaningfully popular there are too much. Look forward to their launcher flopping.

Its great that Valve literally didnt do anything but be more pro consumer and its all finally paying off.

These console manufacturers are all bending the knee and releasing their games on Steam and Steam just sat there laughing.

It wouldn't surprise me if we start seeing some form of salty people that try and start a campaign against Lord Gaben!
