Replaying cyberpunk2077 for no reason. Can we get rid of prologues? My GOD they are in insufferable.

Cyberpunk prologue is absolutely infuriating

Skyrim is genuinely something that deserves jail time

Oblivion should be condemned to death

GTAV is abysmal

RDR2 needs condemned to HELL

We have these masterpieces of gaming. But they piss on us for wanting to replay them. We need more Dark Souls in the world. Where we can get in. Get off. Get out. Just let us play the game

For the first 3 on this list: You can download a mod to skip/alter them.
For RDR2 it's not necessarily a mod, but you can find many save files that start you in Chapter 2 (first camp around Valentine).

Assuming you play on PC that is.

But aside from all that. Yes! I think prologues should be skippable through a simple in-game option. Same goes for tutorials.

Mods exist for everything

Im just talking about clean gaming

If a mod is needed. My point was made and adjudicated as correct and it's no longer opinion on what I said

You forgot the worst prologue ever, MGSV Phantom Pain.

This is insufferable upon replay and WORSE if you want to go for the true ending.
Omg. I know FFS. That's the worst offender of them
All. No human alive wants to replay that garbage

GAME BY HIDEO KOJIMA.
STORY BY HIDEO KOJIMA.
YOUR SUFFERING BY HIDEO KOJIMA.

P.S. I like playing the prologue cause I get to see Venom's fart box just gleaming enough from his hospital garb.

You sadly don't find that very often. Especially not in games where there's a full on story present. That is why I play, as I call them, gameplay games way more often.

I'm scared to boot up MGS5 anymore. His name is plastered everywhere. Can't complete 1 mission without seeing that cuck's name.

That game is goated in gameplay but should be condemned to death for its "how can we waste your time" feature

Dark souls has more lore and story than most games made

Yet it waste 0 time for anyone. It CAN be done. From proved it can.

Fucking replaying cyberpunk and forgot about how absolutely nonsensical bullshit the prologue is

I'm not saying you're not right, I'm just confused about what exactly we're discussing here. What is the issue with prologues in games (why are they are bad)?

Fuck yes, you're absolutely right. Prologue are awesome first timer but there should the arcade mode that let you in instantly.
Yeah. If I've never played. We all just roll with it. We dont know better

But for a replay it's a drab. Slog. Bullshit. Dred. Awful. Piss. Poor. Terrible. Fucking waste of time

It's more a, don't waste my time problem. These aren't shovelware games. They are the goats of their class. But they 100% love you waste your time at the start
The intro in all these games works to create atmosphere and as an element of the worldbuilding. It's kind of like "novels suck, they're just a waste of my time throughout, especially the second time around".

Dark souls has more lore and story than 90% of em.

Yet they do 0% prologue nonsense

Number of posts into a CrimsonTide topic before he segues to Dark Souls' glazing:

3

Anybody know if that's a record (where the topic was not originally about Dark Souls, that is)?
So? It's not wrong. It's got more lore and story and most any game made. Yet doesn't waste your time.

Why the hate on me for my post? What did I do to you? Why call me out specifically that way?

Ok, so it's a subjective feelings thing... And we're all supposed to just circle around and agree. Well, this thread is obviously not for me then.
I mean. This thread is for discussion.

You think prologues are fantastic and on multiple playthroughs are still a joy?

I do not believe I implied hate, sir. If anything, imo, it's endearing.

If that's how you meant it fine. But it didn't come off that way. It's fine if you meant it otherwise

Regardless

Dark souls doesn't waste your time and STILL gives you more lore and story than most games made

One poster mentioned MGSV

Game is genuinely goated for its gameplay

But I'll never ever start up a new game again. Ever.

My GOD it's beyond insulting and I'm not made of stone. Crawling down a hallway in a hospital for 2 hours is a FUCK OFF for me

Never bother me to be honest. The Prologue story is actually better than the mid-late story where the main character goes to his quest to save his life.
My actual complain comes from quests and later game dialogues which pails in comparison with Witcher 3.

I hate TW3 prologue too. Bullshit. It's me walking around. Training with Ciri. It's not as much as an offender as mentioned. But it's also very much a slog

We just need a "press A to begin the real game" option

Because my God I will Never ever start Skyrim as a new game again. Ever. For all that is holy and good it's legit a sin and I feel Dirty playing its bullshit nonsense prologue

Even still. Why prologues gotta be 2-3 HOURS?! Or more?!

FFS guys. Tell your nonsense in 1 hours and let's all play ball. God DAMN
Oh yes, I very much agree with that. If even fucking Spider-Man can throw you right into the action at the start, anyone can.
Sure, the games throw you out of the action many times after that, but come on! Even Spider-Man can

It CAN be done. From proved it can.
Hundreds of games proved it can be done, long before Dark Souls.
It used to be title screen -> Press Start -> you're playing the game. But people wanted cinema in their games, and the gaming industry had no problem finding dozens of wannabe movie writers that cinema, would you look at that?, rejected.

They inject it all into the FIRST 3 hours in a masterpiece of a game. Why?

My god. It's legit offensive

I didn't like how much ground they chose to cover with the montage. That seemed like the part I would most want to experience, and the most important part if the game wanted me to give a fuck about Jackie (I did not).

ME Andromeda has a similar problem, where you arrive at the Nexus late and the guy fills you in on all the exciting stuff you missed, which sounds more interesting than anything you've been doing.

As for prologues conceptually, they should include an option to skip them on repeat playthroughs, and just ask you which choices you made (if there are choices).

Yeah. The montage is what players WANTED in cyberpunk lol ironic really lol 😂

If it's 10 minutes I can deal with it, but Cyberpunk does have a specifically long introduction. I also recently tried to replay it and it was a frustrating start.

Oblivion's intro is actually not that long.
