MK World is £75 for the physical copy in the UK and £66 for digital. I got it bundled with my Switch 2, so I didn't pay it, but I will admit the price increase is insane. MK8 on the Switch launched at £49.99. A £25 increase for a sequel to the same game is insane.

However, I am a Nintendo slut.

I can't help myself.

I've tried leaving Nintendo. I just can't do it. Their games are my comfort zone. If they charge £75 for the next 3D Mario, Zelda etc then I'll complain and still pay it.

I think it's possible to look at this situation and be disappointed without going crazy over it. I personally think it's definitely an overreach and I just don't really care to buy any Nintendo stuff again (yet haha).

The argument of "they run so bad I HAVE TO emulate them" is funny when the Switch 2 is now out and eliminates that problem for the most part.

Why would I rip my legally bought Switch games to emulate on PC for higher FPS and resolution when I can just instead spend $450 on a console just for the purpose of playing these BC titles that may or may not perform better?

tbh I'd thought a gaming entusiast forum would actually want to support the developers creating the games they like.

Whereas it seems like lots of people resent the companies making the games. Then do everything possible to minimise the amount you spend on it, and then attempt to argue in favour of an emulator developer who was facilatiting piracy of these games.

Emulation itself is legal.
Piracy (i.e. using emulation to play games you don't own) is theft.
Using tools to circumvent the protection on a piece of hardware or software you legally purchased is probably against the EULA, whether it's Nintendo or Sony. How legal those EULAs are is debatable and depends on your region.

For the record, I do use emulators, I have played exactly three games on Switch emulators (Ryujinx at first, now Sudachi): the Castlevania Dominus Collection (come on, games are antiques), Kirby and the Forgotten Land (wanted to see how well it ran, loved it so much that I went and bought it the next day), and Xenoblade 2 (modded, because fuck that bullshit treehouse localization/censorshpip), which I also own since release.

No, piracy is not "using emulation to play games you don't own". Piracy is getting games you don't own in general. Where you play them or how you use those files is irrelevant.

Piracy exists on PC, you can download a cracked game and play it natively, no emulation is required. Even on consoles, you could soft/hard mod them and play unauthorized copies on them without an emulator.

Have you looked into it or you're just assuming that Bleem was big? Bleem started with 2 people and ended with 8. Now I can't find how many maintainers Yuzu had but I can do it for Ryujinx, second biggest Switch emulator but much less successful, and they had 10 people.
