Nintendo Goes DMCA on Switch Emulation

Nintendo fanboys are the only ones who don't see how badly Nintendo abuses them.

MK World is ÂŁ75 for the physical copy in the UK and ÂŁ66 for digital. I got it bundled with my Switch 2, so I didn't pay it, but I will admit the price increase is insane. MK8 on the Switch launched at ÂŁ49.99. A ÂŁ25 increase for a sequel to the same game is insane.

However, I am a Nintendo slut.

I can't help myself.

I've tried leaving Nintendo. I just can't do it. Their games are my comfort zone. If they charge ÂŁ75 for the next 3D Mario, Zelda etc then I'll complain and still pay it.

I will never understand people simping for corporations and defending anti-consumer practices but I guess there are a lot of weird things in this world that science still doesn't have an explanation for.

Maybe they are holding Nintendo stocks or are employed by the company in some way. That would explain such levels of shilling.

I think it's possible to look at this situation and be disappointed without going crazy over it. I personally think it's definitely an overreach and I just don't really care to buy any Nintendo stuff again (yet haha).

At the same time, it is also pretty silly to defend Nintendo like some cult fanboy. You can still be a Nintendo consumer and be critical of their policies.

That's Sony

If you want to have a good laugh:
These are my favorite ones:
The argument of "they run so bad I HAVE TO emulate them" is funny when the Switch 2 is now out and eliminates that problem for the most part.
Why would I rip my legally bought Switch games to emulate on PC for higher FPS and resolution when I can just instead spend $450 on a console just for the purpose of playing these BC titles that may or may not perform better?
tbh I'd thought a gaming entusiast forum would actually want to support the developers creating the games they like.

Whereas it seems like lots of people resent the companies making the games. Then do everything possible to minimise the amount you spend on it, and then attempt to argue in favour of an emulator developer who was facilatiting piracy of these games.

I don't think its strange to rather a game do as well as possible and see a sequel to the game. Than to care for some rando wanting to emulate it on their 8K monitor or whatever.
80M Mario Kart 8 Deluxe copies sold, this is what you're worrying about. Also, equaling emulation to piracy again.

The hilarious thing is that Switch 1 emulation will never cease to exist no matter how much Nintendo keeps seething about it.

Can you guys stop coping because Bleem won against Sony in 1972 or something like that? It doesn't matter anymore. Both Yuzu and Ryujinx waved the white flag so fast. Hmm I wonder why.
Lol the term "Nintendo Karen" fits you aptly. Make sure not to wash your mouth after each tonguing session of Nintendo to savour the taste for as long as possible.

Sorry I slap you back to reality with facts. Emulation is perfectly legal guys only problem is we can't explain why an emulator developer shits his pants when Nintendo sends their lawyers!

Hmmmmmmmm, maybe because even when you're legally in the right, being dragged through courts is expensive and extremely stressful?

Just gonna add my 2 cents.

Emulation itself is legal.
Piracy (i.e. using emulation to play games you don't own) is theft.
Using tools to circumvent the protection on a piece of hardware or software you legally purchased is probably against the EULA, whether it's Nintendo or Sony. How legal those EULAs are is debatable and depends on your region.

For the record, I do use emulators, I have played exactly three games on Switch emulators (Ryujinx at first, now Sudachi): the Castlevania Dominus Collection (come on, games are antiques), Kirby and the Forgotten Land (wanted to see how well it ran, loved it so much that I went and bought it the next day), and Xenoblade 2 (modded, because fuck that bullshit treehouse localization/censorshpip), which I also own since release.

Yuzu made a lot of money on Patreon and if they asked I'm sure they could've got a lot more donations to defend themselves against Nintendo. Couldn't have been that hard if emulation is as legal as everyone says. But instead they got sued February 26th and on March 4th it was already over.

Bleem was a company selling a product, they had money and needed to protect themselves.

A random hobbyist making an emulator is just that. A hobbyist. A lawsuit like this is not worth the time or money or stress.

Emulators are legal, no matter how much that idea may hurt your stocks.

No, piracy is not "using emulation to play games you don't own". Piracy is getting games you don't own in general. Where you play them or how you use those files is irrelevant.

Piracy exists on PC, you can download a cracked game and play it natively, no emulation is required. Even on consoles, you could soft/hard mod them and play unauthorized copies on them without an emulator.

And here you just proved that you are completely clueless. Yuzu was a company too, Tropic Haze LLC.
