Marathon Server Slam CCU Watch

I'm not getting how Marathon needs to wait for the weekend while RE Requiem is currently at 300k, is weekend already for Resident Evil players?
DF covered RE9 with a world exclusive reveal of it having PSSR2, as the first game. They have over 1m subs of people owning multiple platforms all wanting to see which Umbrella in the rain shows aliasing more(DLSS), which text on an investigators board is sharpest(DLSS) with an out of focus mugshot(DLSS), and what this new PSSR2 means for discussing the upscaler wars.

Marathon is a far better looking game on base PS5(than RE9) and an underwhelming hardly changed version on PS5 Pro. Do you honestly think DF would throw any media focus at Marathon in those circumstances versus RE9 even if it wasn't a non-F2P gaas?

This slop live service game has already lost most of it's player base, in less than 24 hours, this is just the free beta btw, the actual game will be sold for 40 dollars. Oh man the meltdowns when this trash inevitably flops are going to be glorious 🤣

Man it's 63 degrees and sunny here in Chicagoland. Nobody is sitting inside playing video games. Tomorrow when the weather goes back to being shitty, I'm sure we will see a massive bump in the CCU.

Resident Evil =/= Marathon, lmao. I'm not sure why people are bringing this up, it's Resident Evil, of course it's going to have more players. People took time off for the game. This shouldn't surprise anyone, lol. Extraction shooters in general are pretty damn niche, especially compared to anything Resident Evil touches.

On top of being niche, Marathon IP itself is virtually unknown to the rest of the world, couple with ugly aesthetic, the appeal of this game seem to be limited to US gamers.

Bungie has a built in minimum audience that will guarantee a few hundred thousand sales, the question is can they pull enough extraction sweatys off Arc Raiders, and can they pull in enough console gamers who generally don't like try hard PVP only extraction shooters.
do you really think Destiny players will go over to Marathon marathon is not the same as destiny

Yep. Unless you're one of those weirdos playing Resident Evil Requiem, most people are taking advantage of the nice weather to prepare for Saint Patrick's Day.

Yes, it's not RE. However we're currently looking at around a 60% player drop off in a 24 hour period. What's the mental gymnastics to explain that?

Not sure why you're mentioning mental gymnastics, lol. You're seeing a lower Steam CCU, why exactly? I couldn't tell you, but the data is right there, lol. I was just saying it's ridiculous to compare the two, which I stand by.

i'll be devestated for Asha if this game is a success
lol When it comes to multiplayer games its extremely difficult to tell how things will go.

I feel with single player sometime you can see if a game will be a big success or not, With multiplayer those games just take on a life of their own and you're not really sure what's going to have some big massive success because I never even thought Destiny would have been as massive as it was for them.

All the way back when fortnite was first Announced I didn't even think that game would have been as massive as it is and this is all the way back when they had their very first teaser and it was sort of like that game where at night you had disorder build things to stop monsters lol

This is a very difficult thing to gauge.

So I truly don't know how Marathon will do.

idk. I played it yesterday. I'm sold. Now I'm waiting until launch. I'm sure there are plenty others like me.

But yes, the game will be niche/cult classic only. Probably not what Sony or Bungie wanted. But I'll enjoy it while it lasts.
This. Also, Requiem just came out. I will be spending time there. I am also just waiting on the main game to drop now.

The argument was that people stop playing for work or sleeping, how the heck this does not apply to RE?
Also it didn't seem like "shouldn't suprise anyone" according to some people.

I kinda wanted to get it, as it is only 40 bucks, but damn for a friday on a free trial already half of the players gone does look really bad. It makes you wonder how few people will actually buy it.

Both can be true. People that have taken time off won't be spending that time playing marathon. The ones that didn't, might be into games like marathon and not into games like RE and it just a server slam test, so who takes time off for that?
I know, some of you really want this game to fail, and that can still happen, but jumping on it the first chance you get to label it a failure seems a bit desperate and makes you look bad.

I have bought marathon and requiem. I am going to be playing Requiem. 🤷‍♂️

People love RE more and are more excited about it? Lol. Marathon is a LOT more divisive, not much of a surprise there, haha.

And the collapse continues , I wonder what it's going to look like in the next 24 hours.
Oof, im not the type of guy to care about ccu but this doesn't look good on a weekend

I wish marathon was a pve game cuz this extraction shooter they going for ain't it, not saying its bad but its a waste

I like the style of the game but it doesn't fit a pvp extraction shooter

That chart was from 4 or so hours ago, it has rebounded slightly since, probably because American players are starting to play it again , either way things are still looking pretty bad overall considering it's only been a day since the beta went live.

Jobs + sleep argument I'm talking about.
I get that, I'm saying people are saying fuck jobs and sleep because Resident Evil, lmao.

Yeah that CCU dropping, still curious to see how launch does considering its movement on the Steam top and global sellers over the past few days.

Just did my first run.

It was alright. Team died but was somewhat tense.

Is this supposed to be super sweaty? I mean, if I had good gear, would've sucked.

Will play tomorrow. Need some dedication to understand all this before getting into the fun part.

I gotta agree, if it doesn't blow past 200k prime time tonight it's a pretty bad look.
