Aesthetically I don't like this game one secondCherry picking will never not be funny to me.
Even Zelda is looking better, if we speak about art and not raw tech. Any recent AC is just more pleasant to look at, and I kinda hate Valhalla and ShadowsWhich other games are on the lvl of RDR2?

so far flying sections in CD are the ugliest, but It's about aesthetics and not technology (and even then, LOD popup in DF footage is borderline comical at times). Can you fly in RDR2 (outside of that scripted baloon mission)?
This generic ps3 looking ass stuff with dull colors is artistically better than crimson?Aesthetically I don't like this game one second

It is impossible to wield a proper discussion if we lack the basic understanding of what a coherent art-style is (and not some random bullshots with logos) and how bleeding-edge tech not always translates into aesthetically pleasing pictures. But for the sake of the argument, Zelda BOTW holds up mighty fine on CEMU (shots are mine) because it's art is simply scalable and thanks to it's style won't age. And I'm writing it as guy who is not even that much in Nintendo. This generic ps3 looking ass stuff with dull colors is artistically better than crimson?

I'm not super impressed by the graphic aswell but it does a couple of things impressively:Am I the only one that thinks that the only graphical things that is impressive in this game is the view distance? Why is everyone praising this?
In pokemon language "suddenly, a wild crimson desert appear"This game looks too good to be true. Like, one of those rare games that appear suddenly.

This was the real takeaway from me. As annoying as he is about that, I also respect someone that recognizes they don't like a particular genre and doesn't want to put out a clouded review. There's other guys on the team that can cover.Considering John hates open world games and will not cover them, this is some high praise indeed.

Well we've been seeing this game for nearly 7 years now. I too thought at the beginning when seeing all these wrestling moves that in no way that was happening. But now I am believer of what has been shown will be of actual gameplay.
How it's all tied together is the real mystery though. Less than a week's time.

So Crimson Desert is the big boys and BotW is small time game, huh? It's almost comical to compare this with zelda. You might as well say that you prefer some of the art in Zelda but criminal dessert absolutely trounces Zelda in damn near anything visual that you see. It's better not to go down that road and enjoy Zelda for what it is but that's not compare it to the big boys in these kind of games on hardware that absolutely mops the floor with anything Nintendo has made.
That's all I'm talking about is visuals. I wouldn't in South Zelda in the gameplay department. Keep in mind that this is all about who has the bigger dick (or P P for the kids) and that's very important to meSo Crimson Desert is the big boys and BotW is small time game, huh?
Why do you think graphics matter that much?

There's depth and motion in the picture despite the lack of polygons, the world feels vast. Visually, CD world feels 'gamey' and artificial as hell. While I can't say I'm a huge fan of Zelda games, I always respected how great the artistic vision of Hyrule was realised on basically WiiU target.
But I will stop right here out of respect for mods and the thread at hand, because it's a clear derailment. (Plus I gave up, really, it's an empty discussion)
Oh, really? This why he whacks off to Horizon and Death Stranding?
The hating open world part was a damn lie. It's because DF was feeling the heat for avoiding Hogwarts Legacy coverage. John crashed out when he was confronted about it, claiming he hated Harry Potter and open world games.
Nah, he's full of shit. He never expressed disdain for open worlds until that specific event. Otherwise, he covered a ton of open world games, when he supposedly hates them. He also covered TOTK and many other games.ORRRRR.....................those are the few he likes.
He's a liar. He covers open world games all the time. He's reviewed Horizon zd, Horizon fw, death stranding, death stranding 2, ghosts 1 and 2, rdr 2, days gone and many more.Considering John hates open world games and will not cover them, this is some high praise indeed.
Not many, if any at all with the open world sum of its parts.Which other games are on the lvl of RDR2?
I mean from what we saw crimson look better in many aspect that are not physics system and amount of physics and MAYBE puzzles and level design. That's all I'm talking about is visuals. I wouldn't in South Zelda in the gameplay department. Keep in mind that this is all about who has the bigger dick (or P P for the kids) and that's very important to me
Does he hate them? IIRC he just gets bored of the Ubisoft type open world games, like many of us doNah, he's full of shit. He never expressed disdain for open worlds until that specific event. The game feel like if rockstar from the gta4\rdr1 era was making a fantasy game. There are a few things that I find really impressive in the digital foundry video that I haven't heard many people talk about.
- really pay close attention to all the different npcs. It's really hard to find any of them that look the same as far as what they are wearing, equipment, etc. Even the donkeys and pack donkeys look different.
- go watch the circus scene again and look at the grandstands where the people are sitting. Look at the sheer variety of how the NPCs are sitting. Some are leaning back on their arms some are leaning forward some are straight up. It's crazy, did they code 20 different ways that an NPC can simply sit down on something?
- the water is really impressive but it's hard to understand how it works. They talk about it being 250,000 particles whenever the player is near it and that is how it creates the flow effect. Impressive?
Don't know enough about particles to say whether it is or not. But what if we were to pile things into a small stream. Would the water start to flow out of the stream? Can we flood a town?
Does he hate them? IIRC he just gets bored of the Ubisoft type open world games, like many of us do

You tell me.
Man, sucks to be a water-type pokemon..

John seems a bit like a rather unlikeable dude, I don't know, this and that reply to a perfectly normal question is kinda...nah man. I get that vibe with Schreier even more so.![]()

Very high. In one side we have a beautiful fantasy game and in the other dragons + trains + jet pack. How high do you have you have to be to compare the visuals here to Zelda?![]()
Yet none of them compare to the beautiful landscapes of that fantasy land that's Murcia.Very high. In one side we have a beautiful fantasy game and in the other dragons + trains + jet pack.
You wouldn't known the highest mountain in La Mancha is when someone dumps. No wonder you associate them with fantasy even if they also have factories.Yet none of them compare to the beautiful landscapes of that fantasy land that's Murcia.![]()
the funny thing about the whole ITS A CHILDRENS GAME rant was that he spent like 25 minutes jerking off to Astro Bot and Donkey Kong Bananza. Two games so kiddie, even my ten year old had outgrown them. He actually loved the astro bot pack-in back in 2020 when he was 6 and struggled to beat the full game after waiting 4 years for it to come out. But john a grown 35 year old man who supposedly hates childrens games loved them! He is so full of shit lolJohn seems a bit like a rather unlikeable dude, I don't know, this and that reply to a perfectly normal question is kinda...nah man. Zelda is for adults, or kids, or anyone who likes great adventure games that require you to think at least a little bit. The idea that a rendering style indicates age range acceptability doesn't make a bit of sense.I mean from what we saw crimson look better in many aspect that are not physics system and amount of physics and MAYBE puzzles and level design.
Combat? Check
Interesting loot? Check
Traversal? Check
Graphic and production values? Check
Plot? I mean how fucking bad you need to be to have a worse plot than zelda? The voice acting is already 10x times better from what we saw
Boss\enemy variety? Check
Variety of landscape and stuff to see? Check
And i could go on.
This really feel like zelda for adults in more than just graphic.
John can rant about whatever he wants, but those two games ... they .... aren't ... children's games.the funny thing about the whole ITS A CHILDRENS GAME rant was that he spent like 25 minutes jerking off to Astro Bot and Donkey Kong Bananza. Even 4k60 zelda on CEMU looks substantially worse from rdr2 on xbox one s, yup, 1,3tf mashine with jaguar cpu and still puts botw cemu zelda to shameWait, so you're calling him out for using 'random bullshots with logos' and the countering with 4K screenshots from CEMU.
