Resident Evil Requiem |OT| Through the Darkness

The no blood collector challenge is so easy in casual. Should be enough now for unlimited RPG, I think. Then I will do the under 4 hours and no healing lul

I don't know why I didn't do this in my first playthrough, parrying Lickers is super fun.
It really is. I spent some time trying to clear the challenge, which wouldnt pop. I couldnt get the timing right so it was back and forth with parries for a while.

Its nice to know another way to deal with them, for laters.

Finished another very solid Resident Evil. There is not much innovation in the formula, but it is not really needed yet. The first half is stronger and comes close to the quality of the Resident Evil 2 remake. Leon's part is more boring in my opinion and some of his locations could have been more interesting. Graphically there are clear improvements over Resident Evil 4 Remake and Village, but after all the Digital Foundry praise for the PS5 Pro I was disappointed to find that the ray tracing is extremely noisy and the mirror reflections look quite ridiculous. Sadly only the path tracing looks truly good. The story is rather mediocre and the dialogue is still very game like, but I definitely liked Grace more than Ethan. One scene was quite shocking to the point where I thought it might have gone a bit too far. 8.5/10

And with that I'm done with RE9 until story expansion.

What an amazing game.

Beat it in 11.5 hours. It was fine. I won't be doing a 2nd playthrough.
If I ranked the modern games I'd place it 5th best.
RE2R
RE7
RE8
RE4R
RE9
RE3R
I dunno, enjoying it more than RE7 and RE3R probably shouldn't even make the list lol.. They seemed to have phoned it in with that one.

FYI, if you're doing a speed run and don't feel like messing with the blood collector and unlocking crafting recipes, you get the blood collector in Ark and unlock all recipes when you open the box that allows you to craft bottles of acid. Idk how useful it is that late in the game but just information in case you're trying to speed run the game legit and need the recipes.

I have to say later in the derailed trains area raytracing reappears and the level of artifacts visible is really horrid.
RT is active when you arrive at the city, and looks amazing, up until after the Spider boss battle. Then it reactivates for the entire later portion of the game. Yeah, in the train sections noise is more discernible I guess, but still barely noticeable with flashlight on.

What's really horrid imo is that Raccoon City section without RT. It still looks considerably better than the "Ray Tracing Off" for some reason, and I mean aside from IQ, as it's darker and AO seems different, but nowhere near the sections where RT is on in terms of realism and that grounded, cohesive look. The ugly duckling of the game, which was not the case at all previously if we exclude those 3 to 4 seconds of gameplay in the collapsed building.

They need to bring it back, and move their asses as well.

I just saw the news that they are working on dualsense support on PC. Bitch why it wasnt there for day 1... I hate when devs adds basic ass features post launch when most people is done with the game. It will be good for DLC i guess...

I mean you are right raytracing is infinitely better BUT believe me when raytracing is reactivated in this particularly area the artifacts are very very annoying in the darker spots, seems the infamous PSSR issues (which in reality never was exactly a PSSR fault) but increased to the maximum annoying level. Capcom should really make something about this noisy GI raytracing in their engine but knowing them eeeeh fiùuuuuuu only nvidia ray reconstruction is the viable options.

Have there been any patches to the switch 2 version since launch with graphical improvements?

Disregard: just saw the post above lol

I'm gonna be honest, this lame orphanage walking sim section took the last of the wind out of my sails. Haven't gone back in a few days and I doubt I'll finish it. The hospital was great and an easy 8.5/10 but the game shits the bed so spectacularly afterwards that I'm just in awe. I can't remember any game at all in recent memory that has such a steep drop in quality at one point.

However, that segment was cool and long enough to still feel like I got my money's worth so I don't really care that much ultimately. Leon was a massive monkey paw for me though, holy shit.

My ranking probably goes like:

- RE 2R
- RE 9
- RE 7
- RE 3
- RE 8

My rankings are similar, but I put RE 4R above RE 9 but below RE 2R:

- RE 2R
- RE 4R
- RE 9
- RE 7
- RE 3R
- RE 8

Also, I'm actually playing RE 7 for the first time atm and I'm about halfway through but so far, I think it's better than 8.

For those wanting to skip a certain part of the game, and I did too because I hated it, this was released quite quickly after release, and it works perfectly https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevilrequiem/mods/302 skip that awful orphange level (and intro, but there are guides to restore the intro if you prefer and it isn't much hassle)

really? its like less than 10 min, if this causes you friction, you have bigger issues...

Finished this last night (classic difficulty). Care Center was easily the best part of the game. I loved the atmosphere and the unique zombies. Great layout too for the main building and connected areas. Raccoon City made me think I was playing Revelations 3. There's a clear drop in quality compared to Care Center. Leon was still fun to play as, but the level layouts and enemies were nowhere near RE4R quality. Still had some cool moments, with RPD being the highlight. Things picked up again at Ark with lickers/commandos and Grace's return as a playable character. I'm not sad that Zeno/Wesker wasn't a boss fight, since he's basically Neo with his bullet dodging. He tied in to the good/bad ending choice which was enough. Victor was the more interesting antagonist anyway since he had stronger ties to Grace.

So game is a little uneven but still fun. Beginning is 9/10, middle is 7/10, end is 8/10, so overall I'd say it's an 8/10.

In RE9 it doesn't last long enough to get annoyed by it.

I mean this game is full of unnecessary scripted moments which I really don't get it. Seems tries to be cinematographic? but every time I replay these parts completely fails to give a sense of continuity to the game narration.

Oh it is and the story is completely bonkers and overly melodramatic, but I think it's ridiculous in an entertaining way. It starts out making you think Grace is special and there's something about her/her blood that is key to the villain's plan. But it winds up that they just forgot the password to their mind control doomsday device, which is in a lab underneath the ruins of Raccoon City, which the government bombed not to eradicate the zombie threat from RE2 but to hide the device/lab. The villains think that, instead of writing the password down, Spencer, being batshit crazy, implanted the memory of the password in one of his little girl clones (baby Grace) that he used for human experiments. So they spend untold amounts of money and time failing to develop a clone that can retrieve the password. But in the end it was all bullshit and the only reason Grace knows the password is because her reporter mom got it (and Grace) from Spencer during an interview. Also Spencer regrets the whole human experimentation/bioweapon thing and the doomsday mcguffin completely foils the villain's plans and delivers our heroes from certain doom and even saves the little girl clone they had to gun down along the way because Leon was careful enough not to shoot her vital spots after she turned into a monster. Apparently he thought ahead and was only shooting to knock her out.

Well I mean I'm looking to those sequences from a gameplay perspective and literally there are not sense at all also disjoint you completely to the game logic because neither are that fun to play. I really don't know why do this shit where RE never was a game story based where the narrative require spectacular scripted sessions, the story never interfered and was purely serviceable to the gameplay core not the contrary. This game is filled of sudden strange short sequences which seems more a last minute addition to make appear Leon playable in the first half of the game.

Please tell me I wasn't the only one constantly loading his save near where Emily is behind hold, in order to collect blood sample and do the Bloodlust trophy.

My stash was full of blood transfusion bags, so I just used those. I had yet to use one in the whole game and just kept picking them up and stashing them.

bros, after finishing up the game on insanity, I decided to go back. I went back to the goat, OG resi 4 with the HD Project Mod

My fucking god it's glorious man, I forgot, as much as RE4R is the goat, this shit is also the fucking goat, I cant comprehend in my brain which is better. I may explode.

This is peak fucking gaming man. REsident GOAT.

It still holds up, and this mod makes the graphics look honestly quite damn good, it's like a piece of art. The cabin scene was fucking TENSE, It feels so much more tense than the remake for some reason. As much as I enjoyed RE9 this shit will never be topped. I miss this era of games so much

Anyone else loving the use of dualsense? with rain drop vibrations, sounds coming through the controller speaker and when Sherry talks to Leon, her voice coming through the controller speaker?
Loving that aspect.

Try this mod next

Insanity really delivers on difficulty, huh. I thought I'd breeze it through after completing a no heals, no blood collector, speed demon run, but I'm getting caught off guard pretty often. I like it.

Thanks for telling me what I am allowed to like and dislike. Many people here (and elsewhere) hate that area. I posted a link to a mod someone else made to solve the annoyance, so how about you just keep yourself to yourself, weirdo.

I feel like the more realistic the graphics, the more criticism there is for the story of a RE game. Imagine if Leon punched boulders Chris style. These games have always been goofy. But I love them.

Its nice contrast with Grace even Leon back in RE2R which you would try your best to avoid fighting them while Leon in RE9 takes them head on.
Some times you reach too much man...

Grace has a one hit kill acid bottle, not even RE9 Leon is op as Grace fighting lickers, RE2 Leon cant even hold a candle to her when the conversarion is handling lickers.

I felt you can run through most enemies in RE9, bro. I haven't seen any speed runs for knowledge, but I found out a lot by myself and seeing videos of individuals doing great things in shorts. I hope Capcom don't change the game based on what we found, but I guess I couldn't blame them either.

Bro, leon can one shot lickers. You just have to be intelligent.

I know the modder personally, Albert. He is from Spain too. Great guy and very talented. He did an amazing job with that mod

He is working for nightdive studio now btw

And yet, Grace can one shot them and you dont even need to be intelligent, if you are intelligent you can kill two or more with one single bottle of acid.

She is more op then Leon when handling lickers and thats is a fact, there is no "avoiding" lickers as Grace, you just kill them on the spot.
