You all acting like 79 MC is a bad score

Sounds like another AC Valhalla - throw in too much of everything, don't balance it properly, and end up with a big pot of fairly viscous shit that you have to wade through until you give up and drown in it.
 
IGN:

A technical marvel, has some really high highs but really low lows. Lots of stuff to do, fun to play at times, but can get really frustrating. Had game breaking bugs in their review playthrough so had to use another player's save to continue or start over. There are war sections where they just go on and on forever for hours and hours and require you to fo the same button mashing sequences over and over and you walk a few feet and get knocked over and have to do it again. The bosses take forever and have a ridiculous difficulty spike compared to the rest of the game and they're long, damage sponges, and boring. The game makes it unclear how to do certain things and access certain areas so you aren't sure if you're brute forcing your way through things or doing the, correctly. It bites off more than it can chew and is still fun at times but the longer you play the more of its flaws you see.

I expected around 83-84 given it's the devs first open-world effort, but 77 on MC is quite low relative to the hype this game has received over the last 6 months.

This absolutely won't be contending for GOTY.

And this alone puts me off. Cut 75% of the content and improve the 25% of content that remains and these games become immensely better.
 


Very positive. Says it's an incredible game that's rough around the edges; lots of little issues that do add up.

Choice quote "Basically, in one moment you'll be having an amazing time and thinking this is one of the best games you've ever played. And then in the next moment you're going to be completely frustrated with something that pops up".
 
This seems to be a case of the developers being convinced that more is always better. I'm not so sure, this game seems overly complex and massive. What I'm reading makes it sound like an endless, grindy MMO with too many different systems, except it's single player.

For now I think I'm out.

Original Dragon's Dogma was a great all-round package. Decent campaign, plenty of fun side-stuff and most importantly a really well rounded out end-game. The further in you got, the game improved and expanded so the initial jank was easily forgotten.
Then of course the Dark Arisen expansion focussed up on the combat and looting and got even better.

The concern I've had with Crimson is that it might end up more like Dragons Dogma 2, where it starts out strong but rapidly runs out of steam and ends with a half-baked endgame.

If you aren't focussed on story, you need a really satisfying gameplay loop to hold attention. You need cool fights that give ever improving loot to disguise the fact that there's really not much else going on.

I am not a top-tier soulslike player, but I do play a lot of games, so when I say that some of the early game bosses had me questioning my own hands after a while, it makes me worried. Crimson Desert asks for finesse during a lot of these boss fights - split-second parry timings and precognitive dodge roll windows at a minimum, not taking into account the gimmick fights - but the issue is that Kliff often feels like he's on skates, and the level of control you have over him doesn't always feel accurate.

I was impressed/excited about what was about to come next on my 7 first hours in Starfield.

After 40-50 hours i was ready to uninstall it, 7 hours in an open world game or WRPG normally are the tutorial and a bit more.

This said luke's review (first 5-10 mins so far) has me almost sold, and Eurogamer and IGN's 6/10 got me even more sold lmao but i'll wait and listen the whole review from a few youtubers i trust
