Alan Ritchson : Update - Neighbor Confrontation Video Released

That is bonkers… I wonder what caused the guy to think that was a good idea.

Kids are lucky their dad is the size of a mountain as that could have gotten much more unpleasant

I think I read somewhere that the neighbor that got punched already got a GoFundMe going while there had not been any serious injuries or legal actions taken yet. if that's true, I think we can safely say his intention was a payday from the start.

This is staged, no? By "staged," I don't mean "fake," but "staged" in the sense he's wearing a camera, his kids remain uninvolved, and the three of them simply ride off after as if it's a ho-hum, everyday tour. Maybe I have an overly active imagination, but it looks like he (Ritchson) set this jerk up after a prior encounter.

"I've got the camera on. We're going to ride by his place again and if he tries to start something, stay out of it and let me handle the situation. We'll send the video to the police and get him cited." "Ok, dad."

I don't have audio, but does he (Ritchson) even acknowledge his kids at any point during this altercation?

As a teen, I don't know what I would have actually done had I witnessed my father get into a bar fight or something of the like, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have just...calmly observed.

Watching the video, I see way too much restraint on the part of Ritchson. I don't ride, but if someone intentionally (and dangerously) stepped in front of my bike and assaulted me to the point I consequently dumped it, said assailant would not be walking away after a few punches, internet tough-guy routine be damned.

I'm probably wrong (Occam's razor), but the whole thing seems a bit odd.

Or perhaps Ritchson is the motorbike-terrorist scourge of suburbia and his kids were like, "Oh yay (sarcasm). This is happening again..."

In any event, entertainment is where you find it.

If the camera is what throwing you off, many bikeriders wear these days, to look at cool footage but also its no different to a dashcam

In terms of restraint, you are right, if a guy tries to almost kill me on a bike near my kids id have true blackout rage.

I think hes doing a good job holding back, gave the twat a good little spanking but didnt go overboard.

Considering most bikers I know carry chains or clubs or things of that nature, I think the man got off easy. (South africa is the land of taxis though, bikers being armed is a security situation)

Am I missing something here? The neighbor stepped in front of the bike, forcing the rider to brake hard and crash. Add in the angry tone and aggressive gestures at close range, and that's clearly a reckless and threatening situation. It even looks like he put himself in front of the bike a second time, which led to the follow-up beat down that makes Alan look like the problem. Well, he was a problem alright. :pie_roffles:

And what's his issue with bikes anyway? He's got one parked in front of his own house. ¯\(ツ)

Some people, including OP, looking stupid as hell now after that last video.

Sounds like Reacher may have been in the right. At least right enough to dodge this scandal. I think the next Reacher season will be just fine.
sadly yes, a few years ago. I remember i had just started watching an old mini series with him in when it happened....

pretty sad.
I never watched that Andy Samberg show but I remember him from Homicide Life on the Street

In fact he was the best detective on the show. If you ever watched The Wire you should also watch the predecessor Homicide Life on the Street. Lots of the same actors and it follows a Baltimore homicide unit. GREAT show.

Told ya...

"I've been riding bike all my life...
I've politely told him "Could please slow down"
All of this while jumping in front of 3 moving bikes :messenger_tears_of_joy:

The way the bike stayed in gear and the helmet looks way too suspicious for his version of the story...

I despise reckless bikers because I live in Brazil and we have the most bonkers lane splitting situation in the world. Some low life asshole at 60mph between cars with modified exhausts is the norm here.

But im this case you can't condemn Alan, I probably would have done the same specially if this asshole does this in front of my child.

I guess the way I saw it-the bike was in gear when he tried to pick it up. Obviously flustered. He held back punches. He could have done a lot worse here but falling while on a bike isn't fun. Easy to break an ankle/leg even at super slow speeds. I've been yelled at for "going too fast", had people jump in front- while ~20 mphs. Bikes have a bad image in general (there are a lot of people that misbehave on them for sure)- as a bike rider of 20 years (and much more mature now), I wasn't too surprised at a lot of this. Topped with the fact that people sometimes want to get their fame by extension from celebs, etc.

Yeah - I'm 100% amazed he didn't decide to put this guy in a coma. It seems he just wanted to get back on his bike and move along. I don't see anything here rising to the level of "asshole biker;" just "asshole neighborhood jerkoff," in regard to the other guy.

If this was actually Ritchson's mentality at the time (his post, below), I commend him, because there's no way I would have been as level-headed:
