Dota 2 Beta Thread: [Brewmaster]

Everything is so confusing when you are dumb like me! (or new like me)

Soon I'll be trial and erroring spectator mode like a pro. I already wrote a bunch of notes into a notes.txt file!

Well I'm new and I figured it out in about 2 seconds flat. *Shrug*.

But are you dumb? I don't think so! I literally clicked a bunch of things, brought up the scoreboard, mashed buttons, looked over the key bindings, searched on the internet, and looked in the thread OP.

I'm on a mission to help dumb people navigate undocumented UI features. =P When I get enough of them written up I plan to post them in case anyone else is ever confused.

Yeah, with A-Click deny, it is slightly easier to click enemy units, and you won't do something like accidentally deny Chen's pets. I think Right Click though is so much easier though.

Watching some vids of it. Looks really nice.

Only type of game like this I've played was the original Dota. And I was not very good at it. Despite that, I always thought it was fun. Maybe I should practice on one of the other games.

Played my first Matchmaking game as ES. 5-10 min in, Windrunner abandoned and it didn't look too good.

In the end we served them pretty well :)

And this marks my first Matchmaking victory that counts. Before I won a game that didn't show in the "win" section.

Is there a way to watch the replays I downloaded ingame? Or do I have to search them first, every time I want to analyze a game?

Shakira pick Broodmother after they see PD pick Earthshaker? Interesting. Hoping for some big, spider-and-face-melting ults.

I finally got in even though I'm a complete and total dota2 noob, is there like a youtube resource or something for new players? I'm playing with bots right now but I'm getting owned like crazy, really need to learn the basics first xD

Come play with us when we do inhouse (NeoGAF channel for chat). Great lots of people basically having fun and no doubt will help you with heroes if you ask. Best way to learn really.

Been like that for a while now.

Hopefully we get a big update tonight, past few have been pretty small, would really like to see the tutorial features added for a start.

Don't remember offhand, but she has had a model makeover since the International. Could have had her portrait updated at the same time.

Riki's is pretty damn minute as well.

Edit: Twas a stomp, but a satisfying one. Anti-mage gets melted, Zeus gets picked (he's not seen too often) and puts on a show.

Which was kind of funny after Tobi Wan gave them a lot of shit for picking Zeus when the other team had AM.

Indeed. The spell shield certainly should give one pause, but there could be something said for Zeus innately drawing out AM's defensiveness early (given aggressive play). Less mana burn and less bite from the guy who needs a great deal of both.

Na'Vi so cheeky. And damn, that Dendi and his Puck never fails to impress. Blink Dagger on Crystal Maiden was amusing, no levels on Arcane Aura until Frost Nova and Frostbite were maxed, wha? Were they favoring her improved nuke and root for the ganking potential? (and just being careful with their mana usage otherwise?)

His heal nuke and Repel skill have a lot of utility. The former can be cast on self (with a soul ring, it's basically a free heal with added proximity damage), on allies, and on allied creeps for ranged harassment. The latter is basically a mini-BKB, so in good hands it can protect allies when they need to deal damage or cast uninterrupted (such as Sand King's epicenter, Enigma's black hole, etc) and blunt the effectiveness of enemy casting.

Matchmaking takes ages to find a game, and practice lobby hosts are all afk.

Was lucky I got to play the beta at a mates place yesterday when he got in and have a taste and was meaning to come here and ask about that. The whole practice lobby area of the game is so clunky and made it really difficult to get into a game, not a very pleasant experience. I wasn't there for too long so I didn't get to see the matchmaking side but hopefully by the time I join the party that's all refined.

Regardless the actual game was really fun, can't wait til I can get some real hands on time with it.

Prophet, Anti-mage, Chen, Broodmother, Faceless Void. Not a fan of hard-ass carries and pushers this game, it would seem.

because in pubs, support doesnt even bother to do it
This is true. I don't understand why they don't, warding is fun!

*plant ward*
*fwoosh*
"Oh mah gawd lookit that vision"

I want to learn earthshaker, but everyone says that the guides on playdota are outdated.

Gaf am halp?

why does omniknight keep getting banned?

Not an expert or anything but Omiknight is powerful as shit if they played well. Ultimate seems like an AOE BKB + Heals/damage + single target high duration magic repel. Magic based users are completely screwed if omniknight is around during team fights.

This guy said it better then me. Was playing as Lich in a game vs an Omniknight and I felt so worthless during team fights.

Is console commands the only to get right click deny to work? That shit is amazing because pressing A + click NEVER worked for me. Wish they add it to the actual options.

ult is an aoe spell that makes things immune to physical attacks for a few seconds. however, you can still use magic to damage them

Echo Slam > Fissure > Aftershock > Enchant totem

Core items: Mana Boots, Blink Dagger

The most important thing a good ES can do is walling with Fissure. Aim it in such a way that your wall will force the opponent to walk around in order to escape (also, you can apply the same skill to help allies get away)

In teamfights you will want to initiate with blink -> Echo when the other team is clumped together.

Note: I'm a godawful ES and this is all theorycrafting garbage I have spewed on your monitor.
