What is your dream game?

The title is pretty self explanatory. What game do you fantasize about? This question includes existing franchises being taken up by currently unaffiliated studios, joint ventures, and games that will likely never be made but are fun (and slightly disheartening) to dream about.

If you could produce any game in any franchise (or create a new franchise) developed by the studio of your choosing, what would be your vision for the game and how would you go about selecting its developers?

Metroid Prime with deeper combat, similar to Shadow Complex's take on Super Metroid.

Bioshock + Call of Duty for fast-paced 60FPS action with tactical "powers" to add depth and variety.

games are way to set in their genres. games can be so much more. right now my dream game is a game that completely flips the script in an innovative, non gimmicky way. there's so much room to play with where not even indy games are treading

A well done Jurassic Park game that basically takes you through the original movie. 3rd person, realistic graphics. And it's free roaming when you aren't doing story missions to go explore and collect shit.

A driving game that uses Google Earth for accurate roads and also uses contour lines to depict the elevation of the roads above or below sea level. The actual locales don't have to be incredibly accurate IE: Driving in the country can be farms of light bush, driving in suburbia can just be generic houses etc as long as there are the right tunnels, bridges etc. Traffic density can be adjusted as can time of day and weather.

You can choose a length of the race up to 50km long (27miles) by choosing a start point and finish line, circuits etc (Same as Test Drive Unlimited) but with practically the whole world at your disposal. People on your friends list could show you some epic routes and these can be added to favorites with challenges sent out for leaderboards.

TLDR: Test Drive Unlimited + Google Earth = Unlimited races on accurate real life roads.

Dream game?...

There are a few, but one of them would be..

- An Elder Scrolls game with the whole Tamriel available.
- Without major bugs and better collision system.
- Fighting system like in Demon's Souls / Dark Souls
- Even more stuff to collect, and some sort of customization mode where you can put parts together and create unique armors and weapons.
- One online town (the rest would be offline) with:
- - Arena (to fight other people online)
- - Market (to sell/buy your own custom-made stuff)
- - Text chat
- - A small forest or something next to the town to do random Player vs NPC mini quests.

Other than that, it would be basically Skyrim but with an even larger scope, more stuff to build and collect, a few more quests and a small online hub for those that want something to do after they finish the game (lol!). A PvP mode would get a lot of people hooked if the fighting system is good enough.

RTS FPS squad-based MAG style game

You can view the map from birds eye and order units you have control over, and you can take control of individual units and go first person. All players control smaller squadrons in a control structure of players.

I have too many dreams to count, but one is an open world RPG akin to The Elder Scrolls, but where the rest of the game world is procedurally generated after you finish the main storyline. The map, the quests, the characters, maybe even a light storyline.

personally, i want a mixture of the 3D zelda games (ocarina of time, majoras mask, wind waker, twilight princess, skyward sword):

-1080p, 7.1, 60fps
-option to use any control method (waggle with/without motion plus, traditional, etc)
-a huge overworld with multiple towns and npcs, lots of sidequests, lots of methods to travel (warp points, epona, musical instrument, etc), and maybe even different worlds altogether.
-*lots* of dungeons. some of them can be optional but have great quest rewards.
-secret dungeons that are remakes of classic zelda games.
-no BS fetch quests that are pointless (that damn part in skyward sword, its related to music, everyone whos played it knows what im talking about)
-online leaderboards to see who can beat the dungeon in the fastest time, who beat the game first, etc.
-2nd quest that is basically hero mode and master quest into one, so remixed puzzles, much harder enemies and bosses, way less heart drops, the whole nine yards.
-lots of items that get used constantly (like skyward sword). no need to feel like an item is used only in that particular area/dungeon.
-can take as little as 20-30 hours to beat by going through the main storyline, but can go past 60-70 for 100% completion.
-real time day/night cycle depending on the console time. you can also advance and go back in time (a la majoras mask and the zelda hd demo)
-fishing needs to be as real as possible. pretty much can be a full game if you want it to be.
-on the subject of fishing, bring back plenty of minigames (the rollgame from twilight princess was nice), and why not throw in multiplayer? either have link with different tunics for each player, or even go a step further with characters from previous titles, possibly with some secret and unlockable characters
-completely customizable HUD, not just light, standard, and pro. if you just want hearts showing with nothing else, or if you want the rupees to be on the bottom left, whatever you want.
-option to turn on and off voice acting (link is always silent though).
-costumes for link, like dark link, alttp link, nes link, red tunic link, wind waker pj link, skyloft academy link, etc.

thats all i can think of. ps - i hate finals!

Why come up with my own game ideas when I can just crib from GAF?

*takes out notebook*

Tetris RPG

I want a sci fi RPG that focuses more on blending in and living in alien cultures. Doesn't need combat or anything, I just want to interact with strange alien cultures.

An open world RPG.

*As big and content rich as Skyrim.
*With the graphical design and characters of The Witcher 2
*With the quest system of Fallout: New Vegas

I want a Parappa/Lammy sandbox game made by whoever made Saint's Row 3 but still in Rodney G's style - a crazy mix of rhythm game, beat em up, Jet Grind Radio, and Saint's Row 3. Yeah, that'd be pretty cool.

A game that borrows themes from Gundam and the player plays as an infantryman against giant mecha! I've actually written a plot for just this game! If only I could fund its development. Maybe I'll turn it into a book that will gain popularity and spin-off into a game and/movie/comic

At the moment? A 4E D&D turn based and grid based game. Pretty much just lift the core rules and drop it into a game. Add the better P&P modules into the game and sell them as DLC. Allow you to play single player controlling a full party or 5-6 player online play. Add in a full featured campaign creator and DM mode and you are set.

Why does this game not exist? It's pretty much already designed!

I have a pretty similar dream though I also want a campaign and management similar to Total War or preferably something more complex like Europa Universalis III. Manage the shit out of every possible facet of running a country, and when the actual battles start you can also manage and plan from an overhead view, but at any time you can pick a unit and take personal control and fight.

Battles and sieges would be like Mount and Blade but even larger and with much much higher production values. Town sieges would have buildings crumbling and fire everywhere, civilians fleeing and being massacred....all at the same time the battle is taking place.

Dream game?...

There are a few, but one of them would be..

- An Elder Scrolls game with the whole Tamriel available.
- Fighting system like in Demon's Souls / Dark Souls.

I dream of this every night while I play Skyrim, especially the combat system. Geez that would be great.

Edit: Real Answer: Anybody read the comic CONVOI? That. A fully realized virtual world where you can do whatever and it all feels real.

I want something that deals with elements of space travel/life that pulls influences from the 70s/80s film and/or anime of the 90s, something to do with the cold (on planet surface or something), heights or the fear of nothing to catch you would be a must, maybe enemies/combat along the lines of the first Alien movie where it's mostly just avoid bad things, and developed by WHOEVER. I don't care, just as long as it worked.

That's probably a really weirdly specific list of stuff, but yeah. I don't care if it's third person, first person, or anything as long as it just pulls off the atmosphere and setting.

A squad-and-hub based MMO with PvE instances and tactical FPS gameplay.

Think Guild Wars meets Rainbow 6 Vegas.

EDIT: Or a modern version of a game like Baldur's Gate. So a wild fantasy version of Dragon Age II which wasn't bad.

Open world action game with enormous character progression but still remaining overwhelmingly skill-based, online co-op and PVP

Crysis 2 without camo or recharging shields. Squad versus squad multiplayer is the entirety of the game. It would be the shit.

Could also be done by having Crytek update America's Army.

Super Smash Bros Melee 2.0 catered to the competitive community (but still accessible by anyone, of course. Like Melee.). Flawless online netcode, balance patches, all the Melee and Brawl characters and more, GC controller support, support from Nintendo for tournaments/sponsorships/streaming.

3D Sonic made by Amusement Vision
Speed of F-Zero GX and the craziness of the tracks mixed with the puzzles of the Monkey Ball games. Add a couple enemies in there and a race against Metal Sonic

A 3D 3rd person metroid game with a huge world (prime-style environments), that throws a huge twist at you when you think you're about to win: You end up in the ruins of Hyrule, which is buried under the ground for some reason, and then go around finding out crazy secrets and shit, and somehow it's really cool and not lame like it sounds.

Yeah.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5

Where it comes back to the basis of the series, redone animations, without nail-a-trick or any of that bullshit. Full fledged sequel on a current console in HD, with all of the Pro Skaters from the past and as well as the fake ones you can unlock. It should be a combination of Pro Skater and the first THUG.

A Ninja Gaiden sequel on a current or next game console with Itagaki at full control.

A Nintendo game on a current or next-gen non-handheld console that I can play through with a non-motion control controller.

A Pokemon game on a non-handheld game console with HD graphics, where instead of a top down view, it's third person, something like Kingdom Hearts. The character you play with can be any actual trainer from the anime, not some no name. You should be able to scale a vast world of Pokemon on foot or on bike, and it should all be in the third person. When you summon a Pokemon, the game changes to a small field and you play with the Pokemon and you can switch out between other Pokemon until the match is over. The combat won't be turned based, it'll be something like Final Fantasy Versus XIII.

The game's world and NPC interaction should be similar to that of Xenoblade.

An open world RPG game where you can travel anywhere you want, doing whatever it is that you desire..... like Skyrim, for example.... BUT, without the bugs and glitches and the crashes.

Open world A-Team FPS with voice acting from movie actors. Open world with rpg elements. Inspired by old FC/Crysis games as far as the open world, but add tactical/squad elements from R6. Destruction would be a must, so FB2 engine would probably be the optimal. Throw in some cool surveilance stuff inspired by The Wire. Not sure who to dev it though, DICE can do the multiplayer, but obviously not the SP.

PC/Next gen consoles...current gen couldn't pull this off. This would insane. Different vehicle missions with Murdock, switch characters would be easy since its FPS.

You know that would be awesome. MP could basically be a squad based BF3 knock off.

A game were you play as various predators (lions, cheetahs, wolves, deinonychus, etc) to stalk and chase prey. You have a stamina meter and can signal to packmates to strike or slow down prey.

Still boggles my mind why Nintendo wouldn't let MLG stream Brawl.

The next Smash should definitely be built with competitive players in mind. Though I wouldn't mind wavedashing being toned down. In some cases it becomes overcentralizing.

I have several fantasy games that float around in my head, but one I keep coming back to is basically what I wished Perfect Dark Zero had been.

A FPS with very heavy emphasis on high-tech gadgets
Set at least 100 years from now
Dark, gritty atmosphere
Trent Reznor soundtrack

1.Xenoblade in HD + with a more fully developed open world on par with games like Skyrim + online multiplayer allowing friends to form parties, scour the world, quests, etc. + combat system similar to Tales action-RPG combat styles

2.Final Fantasy VII Remake + visuals on par with Advent Children

3.A Spiderman Game of Arkham Asylum's/City's quality

Crysis 2 without camo or recharging shields. Squad versus squad multiplayer is the entirety of the game. It would be the shit.

Could also be done by having Crytek update America's Army.
When did Crytek get AA? It was Ubisoft in 2007, did they do a remake?

I wonder if the even the best netcode in the world could legitimately handle the frame-perfection needed for any online fighter?
