The problem I have with Patcher is that because of his minor celebrity he now makes statements/predictions like a video game fan or Neogaf poster instead of as a market analyst. His phrasing and word choice is out of sync with what you expect from a professional analyst.

Wait a minute, Patcher is on gaf?
Big publishers put tons of people in their credits that had literally nothing to do with the game. They'll also hire a company to do localization, and everyone in that company will be added to the credits. Then there'll be an external testing team, they'll get credits too. Nintendo doesn't do that. You can check Twilight Princess credits for example, I got impressed for how short it was, compared to walls and walls of text displayed in CoD games.
Let's all hope Patcher is completely wrong about the Wii U. Although, he might not be too far off as far as third party support goes, if you look at the Wii. Then again..... The wii not getting third party support was most likely just due to the Wii not being HD and the vast majority of it's users not being interested in "core" tittles.
Ports alone doesn't mean much. Afterall, why buy a new console to play something that can be played on a console you already own?I don't think it's realistically possible for third party support to be worse than it was with the Wii. From what little we've heard, porting is almost supernaturally easy, especially since the controller is much more similar than in the last generation (edit: to the controllers on competing systems, I mean).
Surprisingly, from what one can find skimming the usual places, the biggest Wii U supporter next to Ubisoft seems to be THQ. I see nothing from EA, Take 2/ Rockstar or Bethesda at this point. Nothing from EA seems exceptionally weird after last E3 and company statements over the last few months, but maybe they're simply unusually secretive.

Certainly true. Well, except for Ubi and THQ, of course. Both supposedly also have a couple of "unannounced AAA" games in the works that are either Wii U exclusive or omniplatform, including Wii U.We probably won't see anything at launch from most of them.
It's not going to happen.Nintendo ninjas!!!
Plus [and more likely, I expect] EA are probably still trying to keep Nintendo sweet so they will hand over the online keys to them. I have my fingers crossed that they are also consulting with Valve and will ultimately tell EA to sod off. An online service that is dominated by EA would be a disaster for the customer I fear.

Yes, and they have the engine up and running for more than half a year now, but that doesn't mean they have an actual game in the works. I doubt it, honestly. But on the other hand, it's always good to have a game on a platform if you're trying to sell an engine for that platform. That's something Crytek seems to realize, and the main reason I expect a lot from their Wii U efforts. They need to demonstrate superiority to entice potential licensees after all.Epic president mike capps is pretty pro wii u

Nope. Four years in, he'll claim that PS4 is actually Wii U 2 Super HD. Just like he recently claimed PS3 was the mysterious "Wii HD" he was always talking about.I'm going to predict Pachter's next prediction "Nintendo needs to release Wii-U 2 Super HD to stay competitive" He'll say it every year until the Wii-U's successor is announced.

He said this in an episode of GT Bonus Round a while ago. I thought he was joking, but then he started reasoning, so I'm not sure anymore. But I believe he thought Move would be successful back then, so yeah...wat
URL?Now you can't make a stupid Link joke!
Pretty much. Even though developers were talking about this in depth, with Vigil stating they had the whole game displaying on the controller within minutes, then came to the conclusion that this feature was as cool as it was useless. Everyone said putting stuff already in the game like maps or inventories on the tablet is incredibly easy to do. It's just that most devs think they could do a lot more, and I personally consider that very encouraging. Devs can even do a quick-and-dirty port while still offering something unique, something of value. That simply wasn't possible on Wii.Developers will be very confused and possibly unable to port to a machine that has all of the standard features of a controller just because it has an extra feature that developers could ignore. That's some analysis right there.
It's not going to happen.
Nintendo will likely allow for an Origin like service on the Wii U.
However, they will never (repeat) NEVER, allow a third party to completely run their service from head to toe.

Seems like Pachter is huge on the console's future

I took a quick peek at this thread, and I thought I read "Wii U-2." This seems like a good music special edition bundle console.

"Nintendo has to simply stop living in the past in 2012,"
Nintendo is living in the past, but Sony and MS adopted motion controls because Nintendo did. I mean, this doesn't even make sense. On it's face Nintendo has consistently been a trend setter in the industry. If you want to talk to a company living in the past talk to Sony about their controller.
Did Pachter just predict that developers are too dumb to figure out the controller AND they hate Nintendo?
Yep, I predict that the PS4 will have an innovative new controller.Nintendo is living in the past, but Sony and MS adopted motion controls because Nintendo did. I mean, this doesn't even make sense. I doubt it'll have a screen, but who knows eh?Yep, I predict that the PS4 will have an innovative new controller.
It's called...
The Dualshock 4!
Now with an all-new completely innovative and not at all shoehorned touchscreen!
Well it's Sony, they just love copying Nintendo's "gimmicks."I doubt it'll have a screen, but who knows eh?
Finally there's something Sony can't blatantly copy from Nintendo. They love sticking with the same basic DualShock design.Well it's Sony, they just love copying Nintendo's "gimmicks."
But I really don't know how they could put a screen on a Dualshock.

Speaking of the DualShock I really hope they redesign it.

Whenever I play DQ8 it feels like I'm using basically the same controller I was using in 1991.Finally there's something Sony can't blatantly copy from Nintendo. They love sticking with the same basic DualShock design.
PS4 Tablet controller confirmed. Nintendo might as well pack it up.From the other "PS4 is more powerful" thread:
"Expect a small controller surprise"
