I was hoping for a re unveiling of something serious.

That's coming at E3...
We've known that for quite a while now...

When you talk about experience what are you referring too, exactly?

I think it is safe to assume that Nintendo, MS, and Sony have staff monitoring NeoGAF. We know more than a few development houses monitor and sometimes directly interact on the boards here.
Also, and I could be wrong, don't capacitive screens have issues registering certain skin types (such as aged skin)? That might be a problem if Nintendo is aiming to get grandma and grandpa interested in another machine.
So you're that guy who visits my local Best Buy!
Both the 3DS and DSi have IPS panels. I don't see how it's too much credit. Nintendo may be cheap but they're not that cheap. Nitendo Spends the money where it counts and cuts costs where they can get away with it. Resolution they can get away with, viewing angle they can not.
I'm pretty sure most people in high positions are smart enough to ignore the font of stupidity pouring out of this thread.
Using my DS (and later 3DS which admittedly was much better than the DS) since launch and using various smart phones (and more recently the iPad) over the years. Prefer the capacitive responsiveness by far.
Now it's obvious Nintendo isn't going to change, I just find it strange people defend them for sticking to single touch + styli when the tech world as a whole has moved on.
Hmm, I haven't heard of that being a problem. I guess if your skin is very dry, which would logically make it less conductive, there could be some issues.
What's up with the analog stick placement?

Accuracy for what.Unless a game uses multi touch a resistive screen and stylus is guaranteed to be superior due to accuracy.
While I concede that capacitive screens (at least the ones I've tried on the Iphone, Ipad, Ipod Touch and Samsung Galaxy) are quite responsive, I find their accuracy to be lacking enough that I prefer resistive that I prefer the DS/3DS screens for gaming.

It's true that you can't just touch it with the finger flatly like on a capacitive touchscreen, but using the fingertip, it doesn't need a lot of pressure at all. Just try to apply pressure on a blank app on the DSi or 3DS until it registers. I can guarantee you it will respond at a much weaker force than you are thinking right now.A capacitive screen is much more responsive. You lightly touch it with a finger, and it reacts. Not so with a resistive screen. You need a lot more pressure, preferably with a stylus - which is what Nintendo is using. A capacitive screen would allow much more convenient switching between using the buttons and interacting with the screen.
But both options are very accurate, even if a resistive pad is slightly more accurate I just don't see any situations where it would be relevant for what the Wii U pad is doing.Everything? Every time you touch the screen?
11 pages for 2 photos? Really? Are the news really that slow today?
This is the most info we got about next gen consoles at CES.12 pages for 2 photos? Really? Are the news really that slow today?

Best part?
One of the photos is from E3.
That's even better!
Iwata Keynote at GDC, c'mon...![]()
Is anyone from Nintendo gonna be at GDC?
All we know right now is that Nintendo will be there. Keynotes are announced later.
3DS does not have an IPS panel. The viewing angle is mediocre at best.
I don't want to use a fucking stylus for this thing. If you have to use the stylus, it means either using the screens or the buttons, with awkward transitions from one to another. I want to use the buttons with quick swipes of my fingers when I need to do something on the touch screen. I don't wanna be picking up/putting down the stylus all the time.
Resistive touch screens work fine with fingers too, you know. Resistive panels react to pressure, not electrical conductance like a capacitive panel. They're material agnostic.I don't want to use a fucking stylus for this thing. Ok. For some reason I thought I read somewhere that they werent gonna be there at all this year.
Agreed. For whatever reason (too many colors in their games, console is white, they saw some kids playing a Nintendo game once, or Mario just isn't a bald space marine) the haters in this thread have already made up their minds. All of this arguing over resistive and capacitive, and yet it's not the deal breaker for anyone here. Not even one person. And don't lie and say that it is; you know that you decided not to buy it for another reason.
That's how it is in every Nintendo thread.Agreed. For whatever reason (too many colors in their games, console is white, they saw some kids playing a Nintendo game once, or Mario just isn't a bald space marine) the haters in this thread have already made up their minds.

What if I already made up my mind to be tsundere toward the WiiU, just like I did toward the 3DS?All of this arguing over resistive and capacitive, and yet it's not the deal breaker for anyone here. has Nintendo actually shown anything yet? Serious question!
I can't recall all the specifics of the controller from E3, but can anyone tell if it has changed at all? down to minor cosmetic changes, like what we saw with the wii remote prerelease.
Ideally it would be the same hardware that's been trotted out for CES with the better redesigned, closer to final hardware, saved for E3. Hoping for real analog sticks and things like that.
