Wii U Spotted At CES

Except for the fact that not nearly all tablets and smartphones cost that kind of money and they all have CPU's, RAM etc. embedded. While the Wii U just has some hardware handling the button inputs, a wireless receiver and a screen. But sure keep living in the past and making up excuses.

Good point. They better 1080p SAMOLED+ that shit up! After all, it's not like there's any chance that the screen costs more than all of the components combined excluding the battery.

The screen is good. It doesn't need to be top-of-the-line, especially if it means that it costs $100 to make. If the screen is bright, which it is, and colors look good, which they do, there's nothing wrong.

Can someone please tell me why are there 15 pages of this thread?

is there some news to be discussed or is it still speculation like the Wii U thread?

Anyone saying the Wii had an incredible library is suffering from a ridiculous case of nostalgia glasses.

How would nostalgia give people the impression that the Wii had an incredible library?

Do you even know what nostalgia is?

Nostalgia would make it seem worse than it really is.

Everyone's bitching that the controller isn't an iPad, despite the fact that none of them are really factoring that into their decision on whether or not to buy it.

This post is a joke.

It must be a joke.

It offers nothing new.

It's offers new opportunities to open the floodgates to anyone who thinks the Wii U will fail is a fact even if we know nothing about it except how the controller works.

Some people here talks as if they knew everything about the Wii U, as if they knew exactly what was inside to the numbers of screws it uses.

?

This is better than an iPad by about a billion times. I feel sorry for all the kiddywinks of today who only get to play Angry Birds rather than checkout person. Good times.

With the next 3 systems there won't be the great chasm in GFX and effects there is now between the PS360 and the Wii.

Online features and functions will be the deciding factor next gen not IQ.

The Wii has a really great library, it just doesn't have as many AAA as the other systems. This is not a bad thing though, as I tend to like quirky, under the radar games.

To me, saying the Wii has a bad library is kinda like a movie fan who only watches Transformers and Armageddon. Whatever floats your boat, I guess.

I'm here just to hate on the non-matte design but I would not dare say Wii is home to indie-auteur games either. It's home to the King of Franchises.

Oh no! Someone posts on GAF and likes the Wii. How can this be? I thought we were all gamers here!

I like the Wii too, but other than Nintendo's admittedly excellent games, its library is extremely limited in comparison to the other two consoles. I think it's very hard to deny that honestly.

Doesn't that just depend on your preferences?

I see nothing weird about the Wii being your favourite console. I went Wii and PC, and as such never felt the need to buy a PS3 or 360.

Except that all recent Nintendo consoles had underwhelming game libraries when compared to the competition.

I'm talking about the "Wii U will fail/sucks, etc." stuff. I thought the message I quoted was talking about that too.

And all is forgiven when the first megaton title is revealed.

that Yoshi Island HD rumor is yummy.
Curious about a Rare's Retro's WiiU offering of course, but I haven't heard about a lot of new recruits there so I wonder if they do something FPSy how they can compete against Activision and MS in that domain.

Online and console functions? Two things Nintendo struggles with mightily. Nintendo hopes you're wrong.

Code:
                 Wii 360 PS3
Disaster: ✓ ✗ ✗
Day of Crisis

Lego pictures in a Nintendo thread, I am not surprised :P
Well they both appeal to adults and have won Best Gift for Christmas for many years.

I'm assuming you mean Retro?

Kids can easily enjoy (and adapt to) both. My son loves Lego, cars and books and he loves games like Mario and Angry Birds.

I doubt there are many people who just let a kid play angry birds all day :P.

The Wii is my favourite consoles this gen and I don't think the WiiU will be as good.
I've had my share of fun with the Wii too, my shelf holds 31 Wii games right now, I actually stopped playing on the 360 for a full year when the Wii released.
But I still don't get how you can think the Wii is your favorite. Why?

Sure, we got;
Mario Galaxy 1 and 2
Xenoblade Chronicles
Zelda TP and SS
Donkey King Returns,
New Super Mario Bros Wii
etc

As a nostalgic I've had tons of fun with WiiWare and VC too, while they still released games for it.

I'm sure there are a few mroe games to list but none that pops up in my mind right now. And notice that those games up there are almost only Nintendo games. That's the problem I have with Wii. The third party support has been a joke. We got plenty of shovelware but almost no true AAA games from third party devs.

Meanwhile, both the PS3 and the 360 has been superb when it comes to third party AAA games. And XBLA and PSN has been at least as good as WiiWare, if not better, and they're still releasing games there.
Now, third party games are usually quite bad on PS3 compared to the 360 version so I usually play them on the 360 instead, so I guess the PS3 has been more like a Wii for me in that there are mostly Sony's own games that has been making the console truly shine. Still if you don't mind a few framedrops here and there the games are at least there as a choice. On Wii we rarely got the chance to play those games.

Obviously third party games weren't a factor in their enjoyment of the system. Even if all the games you got for Wii were from Nintendo, and enjoyed those games more than the games you got for the other systems, you will still say the Wii was your favorite system, because that was your experience. If you didn't care for whatever PSN game there was, then you simply didn't care.

You can hardly call Mario and Zelda games megatons if they're expected like always?

?

They are expected eventually, but they are still megatons because that's what everyone is waiting to see.
