Wii U Spotted At CES

Don't you have to hold the tablet up in certain instances, to get some overlap between its screen and the TV?

That sounds terribad, like using an iPad to take pictures bad.

Doesnt seem like the best design choice if you have to rest the controller.

What the hell? Do you only ever play standing up, or do you just do it with your arms out in front of you. The only controller that requires you to not do this that i can think of is the original Wii. And i bet you bitched about that too.

I remenber a bunch GAFers moaning about having to hold a DS3 with one hand when the Move was announced.

Good luck with that.
No worries here. While writing this post I'm holding my iPad2 exactly like in that pic. Feels just fine.

that's just a gimmick that might be used wherever developers want (my bet is rarely lol). It's nothing you have to inherently do.

You play games with your arms suspended in the air?

I remember everyone griping about this when Wii was announced. "You have to hold your hands up and move them? Surely my frail wrists cannot support that."

Did anyone actually have a problem with Wii? I know I never did.

Then again, my wrists are freakishly strong.

For something like that, which is no different to using a Bamboo tablet to draw something on my laptop, the lap is just fine.

I don't have a problem with the controller. I'm sure it'll be comfortable enough to hold and not so heavy that it'd be uncomfortable. I'm actually pretty fond of the controller, I think it could be cool.

Really the only legitimate complaint about the Wii U controller is the use of slide pads over analog sticks. The thing loses no core functionality outside of that change, so at worst we have a normal controller with a screen that has some basic UI info on it while we play on our TV and some gimpy (but totally usable) analog pads.

and a lot of money wasted?

For what it's worth, I saw a couple people doing this at last year's Burning Man. It was really, really smart, because they could easily see what was being filmed even though they were reaching as high as they could to get over the crowds. I had to struggle with my point'n'shoot hand camera with its tiny screen to do the same, and my Nikon D70 doesn't even have a live display (unless I massively misread the instruction booklet)!

Reggie is supposed to be on soon. I would guess talking about Wii U. Can't wait for interview ROUND 2!!! Don't understand what happened to the other Wii U thread...

Geoff is SOOO GOOD. He even hammered one of the AT&T rep's for still dropping calls even though the rep was boasting about spending $20million on improving network infrastructure.

I like the tablet with 2 detachable nunchucks at each side. Nice design. It might be a better choice for the wii u table. Just put an infrared camera at the end of one of the nunchucks and you could replace the wiimote and have a more versatile tablet controller. There's a description at endgadget's webiste.

Interesting...I wonder if it'd be possible to use the existing wiimote and do something like that considering it already has an peripheral port

Does anyone have a link for the Reggie interview...!?

I thought it was 4 PM PST meaning not until roughly another 3 hours?

People watching the stream, I'm just going on what they said verbatim "I'll talk with Reggie soon"

who knows, but it's gotta be within the hour

Will repost again when live

Here's what I expect from the Reggie interview.
At the very end Reggie says he does in fact have something to show.
A video is played.
"The game that started a legend is reborn..." is shown on the screen.
Cue video of a Wii U Zelda 1 remake with Link fucking shit up, set to Drowning Pool's "Let The Bodies Hit The Floor."
Nintendo wins E3 months before it even starts.

3 hours? Don't think so, but thanks for the time. Should be within the next hour.

your reaching buddy.

Please tell me you see the difference between controlling a DS3 controller with a move controller versus controlling a WiiU tablet with a stylus

one is a helluva lot natural than the other, and the DS3+Move was a big deal because Nintendo already showed them how to do it right (Nunchuck)

But the question was about Wii U having extensive online support, including backwater features like Achievements

If not, MINUS ONE MILLION POINTS FOR NINTENDO ARRRGHHH

Uh oh Geoff says there will be a life-changing reveal

I'm excited about the interview and I don't know why. I'm fairly certain the interview won't give us anything significant. What I'm most curious to see is if the reactions in this thread are as hilarious as the ones in the Microsoft thread last night.

Reggie must be shaking.

Iwata has him tied to a chair, slapping him shouting japanese at him.

"困難にしてみてください。ハーダーをしてみてください。!!!"

Oooh, he promises the WiiU will actually BE there, and major "new reveal"... D:

It should be entertaining because if its anything like last time lots of tension and reggie probably wanting to punch someone

I have no earplugs here at work. Since I can't hear what Reggie is saying, I won't mind if you guys lie your asses off and make shit up to get me hyped.

"ANOTHER REVEAL WILL CHANGE THE WAY YOU LIVE"
"SERIOUSLY PEOPLE, LISTEN TO EVERYTHING I SAY. I'M IMPORTANT"
"BIG DEAL OVER HERE, GUYS? GUYS?"
