Wii U Spotted At CES

The WiiU is the ugliest console I've ever seen.

Either this guy's hands are huge or the controller is smaller than I thought.
Yea that's about the size. Like I've said, holding is not that bad and actually is decently comfortable. The "stick" quality was complete crap and I hope it was just due to the E3 build.

Ok, observations...

1) Interesting, if unsurprising shots of games.

2) The uPad looks a lot better in those images.

3) But NOT liking the placement of the analog pads. That guy's thumbs look awfully scrunched up. Between that, the closeness of the buttons in general, and the thinness of the uPad, this controller is not looking like it's going to be a tall man's friend...:(

The controller is growing on me but the console still looks like an external hard drive.

I totally agree. And while i doubt that will be the final design for the system I could care less if it is. However the more I see of the controller the more excited I get about its possibilities. This has the potential to be truly revolutionary (no pun intended)

I see 4 baby marios on the second shot, so the babies finally got their own game?

edit: well in the hud they look like baby marios but the models look like toads, maybe NSB Wii U will have 3D levels, sounds nice

Wow.... I really hope the console's final build looks better than that lol. Nintendo's consoles used to look so cool :(

I dig the controller though. Apparently it's comfortable too so that's good to hear. I still dislike the circle pads though, so hopefully they feel more "home console" and less "handheld" like the 3DS, if that makes sense.

What do you mean "final controller"? It's the only version we've seen so far...

I mean Final Controller as in this will be the controller that will be shipped at the Wii U launch. I don't care if it's the only version we've seen it looks like this will be the final controller for the system when it launches. I was hoping for a redesign or something because this controller has not grown on me and I've only grown more disdain for it as time has gone on.

Was also hoping circle pads would be replaced with analog sticks guess not...

Yeah that's the thing, other Nintendo console haven't looked this bland, they used to look interesting but now they're just making a white box.

This is the e3 '11 build of the wiiu which is not fully indicative of what the retail build will be like.

360 feels so ugly now. I remember when it looked cool. PS3 has always been ugly. At least a rectangle is so neutral it can't look bad.

these things always look smaller IRL. I remember when the first wave of 7 inch tablets came out, I was floored when I saw them in stores, so much smaller than I thought, and in the pictures online.

B-b-but they'll have to make it even LESS powerful!

Hey, that's a real concern of mine. :(

Outside of being a little long, I don't think the Wii U is that large as it is.

I definitely want a redesign though. The Wii's design was minimalist but inspired. This is just a lazy attempt to evoke the Wii's look. They didn't even bother to create a chic stand for the thing.
