I wouldn't blame the loss on the D at all, but putting it all on Rodgers is pretty harsh. He had some throws out of character, but the turnovers and drops were pretty crucial. And on top of that he had to convert 5(?) 1st downs using his legs?

I have no problem with pinning most of our problems in this game on our defense. Eli had 274~ish passing yards in the first mother fucking half. Both of their first half TDs should have never happened. They stepped it up in the second half, but that was after getting 20 points dropped on them.

Rodgers certainly was ineffective at times in the passing game, missing some big play opportunities. But like brought up earlier, he kept shit going with his legs and was the only guy working for anything on offense.

i always showed up after lakers titles broham, check the posts ;)

and you take this shit too seriously tebow christ

Oh don't worry, I don't.

WHO'S GOT IT BETTER THAN A FAN WITH NO POST SEASON ROOTING INTEREST?

NOBODY.

Seriously though, it should be a good game next week between you guys and the Giants.

The Ravens would have a shot in their game if they had a QB.

oh man. I was a the bars today with a good friend who is a big packer fan. I had no rooting interest, of course. What a game.

I think Rodgers not playing week 17 really hurt them. His timing was off. The receivers dropping and fumbling all those balls. Wow. I think you play that game 10 times, Pack win 8 of them at least. But hey, you only get 1 shot to win and gotta make the most of it, and the Giants did.

Excited for another Niners home game and re-match with Eli. Oh man, so close to the superbowl!

Capers deserves plenty of credit for our awful defense. If the scheme doesn't fit your personnel you have to make adjustments to your scheme, and he never did.

I finished up a project for my daughter, pretty much mellowed me out.

Is your daughter performing a one-woman play? Seriously, though, cool setup; she's lucky.

I just don't get this loss. No good reason why they shit the bed in so many aspects. Doesn't speak well in terms of preparation, either coaches or players.

Really glad I didn't drink today. No need to have TWO reasons to feel like shit tomorrow.

The Packers played a ton of no-huddle in the second half, and Rodgers was checking out of routes, plays and sides constantly. Blaming the plays that are run for failure is as much on Rodgers as McCarthy.

Rodgers was clearly going deep because he was frustrated with drops and missed portections, at least that's how it appeared to me.
I can't really argue with any of that. That said, I kinda expect my QB to be a bit of a hothead in the moment (given all the mental errors), and the coach to reel him back in.

If there's some solace I take from this, it's this: Rodgers has the Jordan-gene, and he'll stew over this one for the whole offseason and come back an better player for it.

Doubtful. How do you scheme around no pass rush?

Reading a ton of Packers fans wanting Capers head on a few other sites I visit. Does Packers-Gaf agree with that? I made the point the point that his scheme served you guys well last season and no one wanted to hear it.....

I don't put it on him. They were constantly put in bad position, but when they had the chance to make stops they just dropped shoulders instead of tackling guys. It's stupid -- yet about 80% of the league does it. It's not a scheme problem as much as a player problem.

My biggest hope for the off season is to get a quality DE so Clay doesn't have to take on 3 guys every time he gets the chance to pass rush.

Also want Walden and Finley off the team, but Finley will probably hang around. Needs to get his head screwed on straight though.

Sign Matt Flynn!!

Grandpa Capers isn't going to Oakland.

Sure it's boring as hell to live in Wisconsin but I imagine he'd rather be bored to death in Green Bay than literally dead in Oakland.

If Finely demands too large of a contract he is gone. I likely expect he is going to want to *get paid*, and we will let him walk. Good riddance if you ask me. He is a big target and get opens but drops way too many passes so its better to not distract our QB with an open TE that can't catch.

Missed this one. To answer in brief:

No, no, and fuck no. We need pass rushers, and safeties who can tackle (Nick Collins please get well soon!). The scheme is fine.

I laughed out loud.

Franchise tag. I can't imagine they let him walk, regardless of attitude, bitchiness, etc.

Nah, not at all, I love Capers.

Need some more pressure from the line and the rest of the D will fall into place like it did last year.

They've dealt with that all season though. 20 points ain't shit.

Down 10, yet they were bombing it deep. The one to Jordy sticks out in my mind, in particular.
Yeah, that one definitely sticks out... just some unnecessary/out of character attempts.

:jnc

Check PM!!!

She's my wife now!

As for the rest of the playoffs, I want good games. Keep'em competitive and exciting.
Gotta hit the sack though, have to go to breakfast with my family in the morning before they leave town.

Packers-GAF for life.

Thought as much. Still very surprised by how much of a slide guys like Raji had in their play this season. I know Cullen Jenkins was a huge part of that SB teams front but I didn't expect BJ to drop off that much with him gone. Same for some of those corners who were pretty damned great in that run last season.

Seriously fucking incredible game yesterday. That was a 4th quarter for the ages, and I'm pretty sure I lost two years of my life while watching it. After Graham ran that touchdown in, I was so broken.

I have been critical of VD all year, but he came through at the right moment and shut me up especially for a week.

I'm still hyped from the game. Insanity.

Bring on the Giants!

Fellow son of an immigrant?

Awesome

Niners fan that is somehow also a Laker fan?

...

Clearly the best combo for Basketball/Football.

lolrams.

I THINK ABOUT IT EVERY NIGHT AND DAY!
SPREAD HIS PASSES AND FLY AWAY!
I B-ELI-EVE ELI SOARS!

He will go no further than the Canucks.

Lol if Ray Rice doesn't get more then 20-30 carries

Since everyone keeps going "we demolished them at their home in the playoffs" look at Berts numbers.

Flacco was 4-10 for 36 yards in that game lol

I was too lazy to run down to the Dairy Queen, so I ate an entire bag of butter popcorn and washed it down with three bottles of Leinenkugel Sunset Wheat.
I'm recovering from being sick, so I angrily drank some soup and a bottle of water.

Hopefully my emotions subside by the time I'm completely better and I won't have to punish the liver.

The Packers became totally one dimensional. It even looked like the same pass play over and over at times. Even a good QB will make mistakes if you increase his pass attempts. For all the talk of Brees not throwing INTs, he gave up two picks versus the Niners because the Saints went all-pass. If you dropback 40+ times, there will likely be a fumble or INT.

That doesn't excuse it, and thats also one of my points for reasoning that we were never really that good (read: complete) of a football team. You can't force the passing game to carry you the entire way, defense has to pull their own weight at some point to get another set of rings.

Flacco is awful. The one Ravens fan in here admitted as such. The Patriots shat all over themselves in that game.

yeah. he knew of the Lakers before coming over and Jerry West. I believe the few games he watched all had the Lakers on 'em. Came to San Fran where he was a Laker fan right away and learned about American Football (he never heard of it before) and liked it and took up the Niners. It probably helped that the Lakers drafted Magic a few years after he came over.

Niners are the only non SoCal team I root for. Just passed it on, especially since the Rams/Raiders left when I was mostly into soccer and basketball.

I want to re-watch the game, already. So crazy how up and down my emotions were.

I think we got too caught up in our 'money' play, like a kid playing Madden. Spam the shit out of that PA Deep Pass. Nobody will ever catch on right?

Wow, looking over the stats the ravens rushed 52 times that game.

You can throw 40+ and get away with it if you are close or winning. When you are trailing its a totally different story.

When you are trailing by couple of scores and not much of running game, teams can jail break rush the QB , while back seven falls back. That's when INT happens.

AGOD avoided that situation all the regular season. Brees/Stafford/Rodgers threw the INT because they were playing catch up with not much of running game.
