I feel good today though... except for when I woke up and looked down and I still had my Packers t-shirt on which immediately reminded me of the game.
I'm more bummed about the Wild Card game than I was this one.
That year things were going very, very well - we just got shredded by Kurt Warner and the silly sally face mask non-call.

This year felt like a loss was inevitable. I hoped I'd be wrong and they could have made a run but not with all those mistakes.

Oh well. Life goes on.

Thanks. I heard on the radio that the Ravens didn't play a team in the top 10 in offense this season, but I suspected that they were still really good. In the games I watched them play the defense was lights out.

Alright fellow Pats fans this may be shocking but I believe the Pats defense has improved. We will know for certain this week against the Ravens. Chung/Spikes being healthy is the obvious reason, but moving McCourty to safety has really helped the defense. McCourty has been solid at safety, but Sterling Moore replacing McCourty has been big. Moore has been solid for the Pats. Maybe it's just me hoping they are getting better. This weekend we will find out if the Pats defense has improved, and are no longer the worst defense in the NFL.

Think you guys can be had in the middle of the field or on play action. But during the denver game your D played very well a lot better that in the season.

P.S. Why on Godger's green earth would you cut Driver?

$4.8 million contract is a little pricey but dude had a good year. Ask him to take a pay cut if need be but if they let Driver go for that moron Finley I will be very upset.

I don't put any faith in yesterday's game to judge how the ravens will play Sunday. The texans D really surprised me how well they played and we didn't get any pressure at all. That won't happen against the patriots. And hopefully cam remembers not to try and make flacco win the game.

Outside of wilfork I don't fear their d line at all so hopefully our offense can actually have more than 3 seconds to set up.

Ravens 30
Pats 21

So i watched all the games this weekend. Does anyone else think the rules changed for the playoffs or they aren't enforcing them the same? I saw multiple "defenseless receiver" hits, late hits on QB's hands to the head on QBs late hits on QBs and the only one that was called was the non helmet to helmet hit on Rogers by Osi.

The Saints were lucky to even be in that game after the amount of turnovers they gave up.

The refs were trying to give the game to the packers or they were just blind and incompetent.

Tebow - lols

The Ravens will need to be better on offense and defense than they were yesterday if they want to beat the Pats. I can't believe they didnt commit a single penalty, not one. There should have been one on Boldin for mugging Jason Allen. I can't believe the Texans were in Flaccos face all day, sacked 5 times and he didnt have a single turnover. That defense was amazing, 17 of the points came off of turnovers at least 2 of which gave the Ravens excellent field position. Also Jackson played well, haters be damned.

Harbaugh was stupid to challenge the foster run. Whats the gain? He wasn't even touched until it was a first down so all your taking back is a few yards even if you win. I don't understand the thinking most coaches have when challenging. What's funny is Coughlin is one of the best at challenging and he got jobbed on his one challenge.

Jacoby should be gone.

Yates, tough game. But good game plan by the ravens to just play coverage and confuse him, it clearly worked. I thought he still made some good plays. They could have easily won that if not for Jacoby's big mistake, when you have a rookie everyone else needs to play better, they could have survived two of his interceptions the way the defense was playing. And maybe they wouldnt have had to throw the ball as much if they weren't playing catch up from the beginning.
Let Yates be the backup for the next year or two and learn and i think he could be pretty good.

Very impressed with the Oline, no one runs on the Ravens, especially up the middle and the Texans did it yesterday.

Foster is a fucking beast, sign. him. now.

All that said, lets go Giants!

If Flacco can't exploit that secondary he gets the elite label stripped from him once and for all.

Why do I care in ten years? Rodgers legacy is meaningless to me. I'm a Packers fan. Players come and go.
You don't need to care in 10 years, but other people will. That's all I'm saying, those who bring up 'legacy' after 4 years are doing it wrong.

P.S. Why on Godger's green earth would you cut Driver?

Well, he'll be set for more than $5 million next year. So it's either paycut or cut time. If he takes the paycut I wonder what happens with the presumptive #6, Gurley.

For the most part, it seems like the refs are trying to be more "hands off" in the playoffs so that their calls don't play as much of a factor into the final result. Of course, that doesn't mean that we still won't have refs making idiotic calls (i.e. Giants/Packers game), but it's a welcome change for the most part.

I read on Twitter $4.8 million.

Gurley seems interesting but very young/raw. He has talent and promise but so does Finley and look how he turned out this year.

I also think Grant is gone which kinda bums me out given how he played down the stretch.
Starks is failure in Pass-Pro and can't catch the ball.

Alex Green interests me. Can't wait to see what he can do.

also, pull your heads out of your asses houston, death threats and burning jerseys on Jacoby's lawn? Its a fucking football game, grow the fuck up.

I completely forgot that Vernon Davis was the one Singletary kicked off the field and threw under the bus a couple of years ago. He deserved a moment like Saturday, that lessens the sting a bit, but not much. I defintely understand his reaction afterwards more.

I was still pretty pissed about the loss yesterday coming into work. I felt like the Texans thoroughly outplayed the Ravens in that game. Held Rice in check, held garbo Flacco in check. Foster went off, Aj had 100+ receiving yards. Even with Yates 3 INTs, they could have won that game.

Jacoby Jones is getting killed down here. There's no way I can see him back on this squad next year. None. Another thing I noticed was the Texans gained a little respect yesterday. The comments I read from the Ravens players were all complementary of the Texans. They actually seemed to get a little irritated that the media kept insinuating that they should have blown us out. They come here next season and I imagine that will be one of the loudest games of the season.

Moving forward team has tremendous upside and I'd go so far to say they can be AFC favorites next year. They are loaded everywhere on defense and they are all on the right side of 30 and in the middle of their contracts. Gonna have to figure out what to do with Mario though.

thats the best part i think, not a single starter or important contributor is over the age of 31, and almost everyone but mario and Foster are under contract. And that goes to credit Rick Smith. Before the season started i almost made a post stating how good of a job he's done and how loaded this team is. Sure he's missed on a couple of picks and a couple of free agents what team hasnt? But Manning, Joseph, Antonio smith, JJ Watt and Brooks Reed, all acquired this year through draft and free agency (except Antonio) all made major contributions to this team in the playoffs.

I would love to somehow keep mario, rotating mario, reed(who had a pretty good game yesterday) and barwin to keep them all fresh? Fuck yea. I think with mario on the field less he'll be less injury prone.

Thing is Reed played his way into a starter role, and he will be much cheaper than Mario. That's gonna be a tough situation. Also have to remember that the Texans have to resign Chris Myers and come up with dat dough for Foster.

Jacoby's gotta be gone. Gonna be hard to do with that deal, but it's gotta happen. He hasn't shown more than 2-3 games in a row where he puts it together before remembering he's Jacoby his entire 5 years (I think) in the league.

We have to bring in a legit #2 WR whether it's in the draft or free agent. As far as I know, the entire defense should be intact. Have to upgrade at CB2 as well, Kareem needs to go crawl in a cave. The only reason Kareem hasn't regressed is there was no way to go down from last year. When teams realize they can throw at will on him, it gets ugly.

The team played a hell of a game on both sides of the ball, the offensive line was freaking nails, too bad TJ made some awful throws. I have no problems with the play calling though, as some people I've heard seem to have. These are the same plays that people were bitching about (myself included) that Kubiak wasn't calling/Schaub wasn't throwing earlier this season and in the past. It was bad execution, not bad play calling.

Yup...number 2 receiver is a must. After that I'd go CB, but beyond that the picks will be for depth.

Good problem to have.

except for you know, yesterday where he batted two balls away and three of the other catches he gave up were ridiculous one handed catches or incredible throws that no one but the receiver was getting. What they need to upgrade is Jason Allen.

Everyone is talking about the similarities between TO's TD against the Packers in '99 and The Disease's game-winning grab on Sunday. But I haven't seen this other comparison pointed out: Alex Smith running on a bootleg on a key third down was just like Steve Young in the regular season game against the Cowboys in '94. The couldn't slay the 'Boys for three straight years, and then they come out in a huge matchup and run bootlegs to Haley's side all game long. That's exactly how Harbaugh attacked the Saints on that amazing play.

ELI-TE my ass. Eli got out quarterbacked by Rex Grossman TWICE this year. As has been the case for all of the successful Giants teams in their history, it's been about their defensive line and/or linebackers. Eli getting another free pass. smh

TheFatOne in being positive shocker!

I know the defense looked very good against denver, especially how they man handled the offensive line and got pressure to Tebow, but I'm not sure if this was just an inspired performance or an indication of things to come. It WAS only a few weeks ago that the defense had terrible starts against the Dolphins and Bills so I'm hoping that's all in the past.

I like our chances now more than in 2009 though; we're stronger with all of our big offensive players healthy, the Ravens are a little weaker and many players will want revenge.

forgot to say:
lol passing league, defense doesnt matter etc etc. 3 of the last 4 teams, play good defense and can run the ball. Yes you still need a good QB, just ask Houston this morning :(

except for you know, yesterday where he batted two balls away and three of the other catches he gave up were ridiculous one handed catches or incredible throws that no one but the receiver was getting. What they need to upgrade is Jason Allen.

I disagree to an extent... they just need to upgrade the CB2 position period, and let Allen/Kareem battle for the nickel with McManis.

I think Allen is slightly better than Kareem. Kareem constantly gets beat, Allen occasionally will make a play on the ball. Kareem Jackson is an overpaid Demarcus Faggins. Neither are good though, but I think Allen is at least slightly above awful.

I'd like DD to stay, but they're definitely stacked at the position. It's a shame the old man couldn't teach everyone else how to catch yesterday.

And I talk shit on Finley as much as everyone else on Packers-GAF, so I don't know why I feel this way, but I still have hope for him. Maybe a real off-season and without dealing with rehab oh god what am I saying I should just delete this post

And I liked this response to a fan from Vic on packers.com (the later half about people trying to blame the D for yesterday):
Q: After the Saints-49ers game, is it safe to say defense still wins?

A: ... Defense wins championships? What defense? The 49ers gave up 32 points to the Saints. The Giants gave up 388 yards to the Packers. The Ravens were run on for 132 yards by Arian Foster. The Steelers had the No. 1 defense in the league and they got torched for 316 yards by a guy who has trouble making the ball spin. Who’s playing defense? I understand that somebody has to be No. 1, but I would hardly compare any defense of today to the 1985 Bears, 2000 Ravens or ’76 Steelers. Yet, I’m receiving an avalanche of e-mails from Packers fans who are all of a sudden convinced that defense wins championships. Is that the excuse? How about those turnovers and dropped passes? The Giants ran six offensive plays in the third quarter; the Packers defense pitched two three-and-outs. That was the Packers’ chance to get back into the game, but it didn’t. I can’t help but wonder what would’ve happened had the Packers tied the game in the third quarter. If we’re going to analyze this game, then let’s be fair.

Brees got out quaterbacked by Fat Taco and Crappy Sam's backup.

According to JS, it was around there this year. Here. Maybe it's not backloaded but I don't think it really matters. $4.8, $5+, still more than nearly everyone. Too much.

Yeah, Grant is probably gone but who knows. The thing about the young RBs they have is that none of them have had an offseason with the team yet. In the offseason hopefully they learn to block first and move from there. They all seemed to have some potential.

It's gonna be tough for Vic the next few weeks with the questions he'll be dealing with. Good answer to that one, though.

Yup. Thank god that 27th ranked defense was there carrying the team the whole season to get them to the playoffs! I don't know what the Giants would have done without them. I mean it was the defense with those 15 4th quarter touchdowns and 5 come from behind wins, right? Or that monster Giants run game that decided to show up in Week 15....

Those 600+ yards and 6 TD's have nothing to do with either those playoff wins either, right? I don't even care about the elite label shit but it's laughable to not give him his due.

His attitude is a problem. That and after yesterday you can clearly tell Aaron hates his guts.

I think Finley's back but I wonder if they'd try to use Gurley like Finley.
Basically make him a "Wide Receiver acting like a TE" whereas Finley is a Tight End who acts like a WR.

That is true. I really like Saine though. Good in pass pro, can catch, plays special teams and decent enough at running.

Defenses force turnovers.

Since 2007 Eli is 6-1 in the playoffs, his only loss was against the Eagles. Giants got the SB wrapped up this year since the Eagles arnt around to stop Eli.

So apparently lil Schotty learned the digit/Coryell system under Cam Cameron while they were on his dad's staff in SD. I don't like this particular branch of that coaching tree :(

He's fucking terrible dude, Schotty's concocted his own unique amalgam of shit and it's wholly his own.

I'm eating crow because I thought he wouldn't sniff another job unless his father gave him one.

Maybe it was just the Jets, Pennington really didn't have the weapons or the arm and Sanchez stunk, but I just can't put it entirely on the personnel. Watching his offense you know it's more a problem with his play calling than the players.

May work out though, Saban considered him, Fishers not a dope, so they must know something outsiders don't.

Look on the brightside, you still have the Texans.

He had a good game yesterday, but that's not enough for me to think he's suddenly a good player. I'm not sure he knew how to look for the ball until Sunday. Not enough to think Kareem Jackson and Jason Allen are the solution at the position at this point.

You know this is the one thing Singletary did right.

VD was a completely different player after this.
Realized it was about the team and not just about him.

How the fuck does an OC that called 69 passes for Sanchez against the Giants in a 1 score game find another job? NFL teams can be so stupid some times. Fisher should have tried some up and coming coach rather then a guy that failed totally in his last job.

"Defense wins championships" Is kind of a false statement. Here's a better one.

You can't win on one side of the ball.

Been saying it all year - Packers D was shit, so when the Offense sputtered (as offenses will do) the Packers had nothing to back themselves up with. It's silly to think that any team can play 19 games of flawless offense.
