OMG YES! GREATEST COLTS NEWS OF THE LAST YEAR! Jim 'I'll just call a timeout to let the Jets almost guarantee the game' Caldwell was fired!

The iPad/iPhone/iPod thread is up to its 4th OT now. Are there novelty games? Yes. Some of them are fun. You'll hear the argument "but they aren't real gamezzzzz" which is bullshit. There are a lot of games for iOS that are deep and worth playing. The thing is I almost always have my iPad with me. I use it to post on GAF, for one. So it's my go-to device when I have a little time during the day to play something.

Is it perfect? No. But I don't think either the DS or the PSP is perfect either.

Too bad all the football games suck on it.

I love my android phone but I may need to switch to an iphone because all the good games only go to iOS.

Or complement my phone with an ipad. Maybe my tax return...

I have an iPhone with all these games I never play, but was thinking of getting a tablet. I tried out the Kindle Fire but it's just not functional for what I'd like. Trying to figure out if I should wait for more Tegra3 tabs to hit or look at the less expensive Tegra2s

Tegra 3 is already on it way, so it worth the wait. Wait for the Transformer Prime Jr which is a tegra 3 tablet for $250

Candlestick crowd noise explosion heard from the field level at the end of the game:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YFa2yRu7ZQ

Reminds me of the Saints NFCCG after Hartley's kick. Pure fucking euphoria.
That game was really close. Probably the most exciting game that happened this year. Our offense showed up despite a bunch of turnovers, your defense definitely showed up, and both teams fought hard, giving 100% on the field. In the end, you guys won in the final seconds but it was close and it was awesome. Im glad we went out like that instead of being blown out. Also the Packers shit getting pushed in by the giants made this loss a lot easier to take.

A Saints fan talks about his terrible experience at Candlestick Park last Saturday:

I’m posting a letter to the editor from a shocked Saints fan that ran in the Tuesday edition of the San Francisco Chronicle because it deserves a broader community discussion. The letter, written by Don Moses of Mill Valley, describes ugly and profane epithets hurled at him and his two teenage daughters when they went to Saturday’s 49ers game against the New Orleans Saints. Moses decries the combative fan culture. His was not the only letter The Chronicle received from horrified Saints fans.

Another Saints fan who was at the game posted this on a New Orleans life website.

What do you think?

Ugly side of 49ers’ big game
Letters to the editor, Jan. 17

I’ve lived in the Bay Area for 25 years but have remained a staunch Saints fan with close ties to New Orleans. My family still lives in New Orleans and has held our season tickets since 1967. I “get” the emotion of the game, the moment and the enthusiasm of the 49er fans.

Despite the extraordinary setting at the ’Stick, we were shocked by the hostility, vulgarity and intimidation that rained down on me and my two teenage daughters from the moment we stepped into the parking lots. Yes, we were proudly wearing our Saints colors; that’s what loyal fans do. And yes, we expected some good-natured jeering.

We had vulgarities screamed at us repeatedly in the parking lots and literally nonstop by the hooligans around us in the stands. While walking through the lots we had footballs thrown at us, guys screaming curses in our faces — my daughters asked if I had heard the guy who yelled “your mother’s a whore,” which I had, but couldn’t show a reaction for fear for my daughters’ and my own safety. We finally took to shadowing two cops that were strolling through the lots until we dashed for what we thought would be the relative sanity of the stadium.

The stadium was no better. Every other word from dozens of fans around us was an f-bomb shouted at the top of their lungs. There were seven or eight large 30- to 35-year-old guys directly behind us who cursed and threatened us the entire game. After one string of profanities I turned around to look at them and the most obnoxious and combative of the bunch yelled, “Do not turn around again! Do not ever turn around again” and punctuated it with a profanity. They used gay slurs repeatedly at the husband of a middle-aged couple in front of us, the only other Saints fan in our area, and called his wife a bitch.

One of my daughters asked me, “Why don’t you do something, Daddy?” Do what? Fight 10 guys, call/text security when all those guys behind me would know who would have fingered them?

Leave early? We almost did.

The hostility and threats of violence were a constant throughout our experience. It appeared to be ingrained in the fans’ culture, similar to the hooliganism that destroyed the reputation of English soccer. The long wait for the playoffs, the excitement of a big game? No excuse. I’ve been to big games in venues around the world and believe me, I’ve been a Saints fan my whole life so I certainly know about long playoff waits. The Vikings fans in the tailgate parties before the NFC championship game were eating crayfish and dancing along with the Saints fans — they weren’t threatened, they were having a great time.

Every 49ers fan, the team and it’s owners should be ashamed and embarrassed to wear the red and gold today. They won the game but are losers in every other way.

I definitely like the 7" form factor, so I am really interested in that. But it's hard to trust ASUS with regards to their release dates

edit: Guess what Don Moses, the world went in the crapper a few years ago. It's regrettable that society crumbled, but it's on you for taking underage children to hostile territory and wearing the opposing team's jerseys.

LOL Fuck outta here, that's nowhere near shit talking for Rolle.

I heard the whole interview, futurevoid even referenced it earlier, it wasn't even close to how the article is making it sound. Tebow-damn the media is a circus.

lulz just fucking around. i think its funny how PC athletes can be at times. once the games start they aren't being PC with each other on the field but in the press most of the time it's the same answers from the same guys

Just realized I hadn't made any picks for this weekend.

i commented on this on the 49ers mb too. a bad situation but i don't like the end of the letter.

1. it's very unfortunate that this happened with kids around. i don't condone this at all.
2. i would never take my kid to a road playoff game
3. again, while i sympathize with this guy having to deal with that, he can fuck off for saying niners fans should be ashamed. seriously, go fuck yourself dude. i have nothing to do with these guys that talked shit to you but you want me to be ashamed for being a niners fan?

hey i was reading in the paper a few weeks ago that a child molesting rapist was arrested. he was a saints fan. all saints fans should be ashamed of what this man did!

wait, you don't want to be grouped with an asshole who did something that you had no control over as a saints fan??

Lulz, we should be ashamed as fans? Yea, so saints fans were treated rough at an away playoff game, big deal. Were they physically harmed? No? Then stop getting so indignant about it. Isn't this exact thing going to happen in most stadiums with the home teams fans? I doubt every saints fans experience was this "traumatic".

What a bitch. Was he expecting hugs and free hand jobs going to Candlestick? Its a playoff game where the winner goes to the CC game in a stadium that hasn't seen a playoff game in years and years, from a team who has a very rich tradition in terms of success. No matter what stadium you go to in the NFL, during a game with implications such as that game, you will be harassed if you wear the other team's colors. No reason 49ers fans should be ashamed. The guy should be ashamed for bringing his daughter(s) to the game. Fucking negligence on his part

Yes, we were proudly wearing our Saints colors; that’s what loyal fans do.

Now that's just asking for trouble. What did he expect?

I'd never dare to go to an away match wearing my team's jersey. I'd have to travel with a lot of fellow fans to pull that off, and have tickets for the visitor's block.

Here in Germany, in most stadiums it's even forbidden to wear the opponent's colors in the parts of the stadiums where the most loyal home fans are.

Also, what did happen to him? He got ridiculed! It's not like he and his familiy was viciously attacked and beaten.

I don't want to defend any classless behavior on part of some Niners fans. But I can't feel ashamed about it either. That guy was incredibly naive to expect anything else.

I dont have an iOS device and figured its time to get one for games. Figuring on gettnig the Ipad with my graduation money but still debating on maybe the touch since I already have a hp touchpad which will soon get the new android OS.

Just watched the Rolle interview. It is sorta sick how writers really take that line out of context for the headline. He acknowledges Alex Smith as a great quarterback and honestly doesn't sound cocky at all. He's really saying exactly what you want to hear from an athlete-at least what most athletes seem to be trained to say.

The media will spin shit into anything just to make it look like a controversial story, especially in a time now.

It's funny because Rolle has talked *so much* shit this season, this is completely harmless and damn near complimentary. He learned his lesson after he said that the Giants would beat the Redskins 99 times out of 100 and that Rex is a mediocre QB.

BTW started rewatching that NYG@SF game from earlier in the season last night, only got two possessions in though. The Giants running game up the gut was actually pretty good to start, however on passing plays, Soap was a load. He was constantly in the backfield. Jacobs, who completely stones most rushers, was having a very hard time with Soap. The Niner secondary was also playing pretty deep in it's zone schemes. The Giants hit stuff underneath all drive long until, even in the red zone.

Watching the Niner O operate, Alex Smith tore up the Giant secondary. Delaine Walker was huge. For some reason the secondary was playing off man coverage, made zero sense to me.

I went to a road playoff game at Yankee Stadium wearing my Red Sox gear and wasn't afraid in the slightest. And I heard shit but it wasn't anything like what this dude heard. I realize baseball isn't football but yeah I wouldn't bring two teenage daughters to a football game like that either.

The whole area has seen some pretty bad sport stories though lately with that guy that was in the coma, etc. I thought everyone in California smoked weed. What is this shit?

Yankee fans are pretty tame overall. I've seen one or two fights in the stands but nothing really crazy. I wouldn't, however, where Yankee gear to a Red Sox game.

I somewhat agree with you, he should know better but shouldn't he have a right to be able to bring his daughters to a game and not be harrassed like that?

It sucks that alcohol mixed with some sports usually ends up like this though.

Also agree with FMT on the last sentence, he's a little bitch for that.

Ed Reed on Texans pressuring Joe Flaccid

"I think Joe was kind of rattled a little bit by (Houston's) defense," Reed said on SiriusXM NFL Radio on Monday, according to ProFootballTalk. "(The Texans) had a lot of guys in the box on him. And, I mean, they were getting to him. I think a couple times he needed to get rid of the ball. I don't know how much of the play-calling ... but it just didn't look like he had a hold on the offense. ... It was just kind of like (Baltimore's coaches) was telling him to do, throw the ball or get it here, you know, get it to certain guys. And he can't play like that."

Flacco was sacked five times and hurried by Texans defenders more than that in the win. Reed said Tuesday part of the blame for that falls on Baltimore's offensive line.

"[T]he offensive line gotta block better," Reed said, according to ProFootballTalk. "You know, they gotta communicate better, gotta pick up blocks (and) Joe's gotta get the ball out of his hand."

Kills me that they lost this game. I hate flacco. He's the Pau Gasol of the NFL to me.

If what he says those fans were doing is true, that would have gotten them tossed out and season tickets (if applicable) revoked at the Georgia Dome. I've seen some fans do some despicable crap and get reported to security and next thing you know the police show up with security and promptly toss the offending jerk.

Some good natured jeering is one thing. Acting like a total douche is another especially when the other fan hasn't said a damn thing to you or is being overly demonstrative about every good play that their team makes.

Yes, he shouldn't have called out all of the fans to be ashamed but he has every right to be upset by the treatment of the fans he DID encounter. People need to show some class.

Fuck you clowns who say he shouldn't take his kids to the game. Its a football game not a deathmatch.

I'm waffling. Eventually I'm sure I'll get one but software for $50 seems absurd. I'll wait for a price drop on the system. At least that's what I say. Then MLB will come out and I'll have to get it.

Cloud saves! I'm tempted especially since I have $50 in reward certificates at Best Buy.

I wore a pink red sox t-shirt, size ladies medium or something to a Red Sox game. I changed the number to read .233 (instead of 33) and changed the C to a C-. It was 2007 or 2008, the year Varitek really struggled and the Red Sox were flat ass. My buddy got me seats in the owners box (not the suite, but the "box" of seats next to the dugout. It was awesome. At first I was a touch worried, but one of the clubhouse "kids" asked if I wanted Varitek to sign it.

The fans were not amused, but knowing Boston it was probably because they thought only a qweeeeeaah would wear a pink shirt.

All that said, I did not get into a fight nor fear for my life. It's all old people at Red Sox games.

Yeah back in '05, I had a couple buddies come in from New York and wear fully decked out matching Posada and Rivera jerseys. This was to a game against the Tigers. They were jeered and booed but I knew a guy on the team at the time and we went and sat with the player's wives. Which was cool but you couldn't say ANYTHING without one of the ushers warning you. Stupid kids!

I wouldn't have brought them to the bleachers. That would be a huge mistake.

There are bad fans everywhere but not sure if it's changed for the worse over the past couple of years.

I can understand where the guy in that letter is coming from, except for the last sentence. His "every niners fan should be ashamed" line sticks out to me as the pathetic whining of a bitter-tear'd old man who felt emaciated in front of his daughters.

I'm sure he got heckled and harassed. The rest? I don't buy it. Especially the picture of the parking lot he is trying to paint. Yes, I'm sure the tailgaters all lined up and rained footballs down on every Saints fan who dared set foot on the property. Give me a break dude. And in my opinion, if he didn't call security he has no right to bitch. He chose to put up with it.

L O L

Varitek fucking sucks.

He sounded more concerned with proving how manly he is than with his daughters being in a potentially dangerous situation, according to him anyway.

Dunno, sounds like a sore loser to me pondering suing Harbough for shaking his hand too hard.
