Cheap Arse Gaffer (Euro Gaming) Thread 2 - Add to your backlog with ease

People are more likely to complain than post thanks about a company on the Internet. Obviously, Zavvi are doing something wrong to get those complaints, but they are still getting stuff out to 1000s of people every week.

That's what I thought when I was looking at the reviews for G.a.m.e.s.b.a.s.e.m.e.n.t. Then they screwed me, got banned from Gaf, and now seemingly have vanished from the internet.

That site looks awfully dodgy

Coolshop is fine, they are a well known Danish retailer. The site is fine too, they just have not bothered to invest in a decent designer. I would not (knowingly) post a link to a dodgy site. *insert Zavvi joke here*

This is there TrustPilot review graph...

Most of the red is from a Forza 4 LE mess up from last year. From what I remember, it was a GAME exclusive and they could not sell it even though they listed it.

Yeah, but they triple charged people for items, and were fucking with people before a product even went out the warehouse door - and then is debatable if they even had one. They were knowingly trying to con people, and pretty much everyone that dealt with them had bad things to say. Zavvi may fail at a few things, but they are not trying to con people.

Coolshop (at least the danish store) is incredible.

The only negative is they might send you rerelease/platinum versions of games even if the picture shows the normal boxart, so be wary of that if you care about these sort of things (i do :P).

I can vouch for Coolshop, the UK site. They sent me Inazuma Eleven way before Nintendo officially released it in the UK and they also sent me a copy of Sam & Max Ep 2 for the Wii which is an obscure as fuck title they had on a budget price. So whatever they advertise on their site, they have (in my experience).

How many of these 'obscure/hard to find' titles are EU mainland variants, though?

Well the two I ordered from them are PAL-UK and it would have been easier to cock it up as the Inazuma game was available everywhere else in Europe except the UK back then, don't know if that's a good enough guarantee. They also shipped incredibly fast (1-day delivery).

UK only, discrimination!

Wut! They don't deliver outside the UK and Ireland. Another funny thing is that the other Coolshops in Denmark, Norway, etc are far more expensive than the UK shop. Wipeout 2048 costs 50 euro in the Danish online shop.

Screw you HMV. Coolshop will save us!!

Modnation Racers Road Trip (Vita) - £22.97 @ Coolshop
WipEout 2048 (Vita) - £22.97 @ Coolshop
Everybody's Golf (Vita) - £22.97 @ Coolshop

What are coolshops delivery times like? Would I get it on release day?

So tempted to get WipEout at that price.

Edit: Ordered it anyway. Now hopefully a deal for the Vita will pop up, starter pack included. Got it preordered from shopto for now.

I wonder if £25 was a mis-price or they just think that they can raise it to £30 or something and still get loads of sales, annoying when they do stuff like that especially when the value didn't really look like it was an error.

Amazon did something similar yesterday with WWE-12, it was £17.99 on Monday and had swiftly been bumped up to £25 on Tuesday.

I can't speak to whether or not they actually honored those though, although in my experience Amazon usually do in fairness, but they have a habit of raising the price at soon as it tops the charts.

My £10 copy of Shadows of the Damned still hasn't shipped from Play.com.
I ordered 22 days ago. Maybe I should just cancel.

It doesn't seem to be available at all anymore. Zavvi even canceled my order from last month instead of sitting it out.

Just had a shipping email from Zavvi for RE Revelations with Circle Pad Pro.

I've never really used them before, are they generally bad in actually shipping it out or is it the time between shipping and delivery?

The time between shipping and arrival has been terrible for the past year or so, ever since they started with the free shipping to Europe.
But they have changed that policy several months ago and now ask €1,21 for shipping which resulted in games arriving a lot quicker in my experience.
Even had a game or two arrive in 3 days!
Something that never happened with them before.

But I'd still count on it taking a week. It's just been shipped, so I'd expect it by Friday of next week.

Word of warning: When you put Sonic Generations into your shopping cart at Play.com, it comes up as £17.99, not the advertised £8.99.

That's to Europe though, mine is just being sent within the UK.

Useless for mainland Europe :/ Damn Amazon.co.uk shipping rates.

Make sure to order another item that is shipped by Amazon itself and that the total amount is over £25 (or something like that).
Then select to have the items shipped in a single package a then you should get the option for free super saving shipping.

Works like a charm, unless the item you want is being sold by a 3rd party.

Ah I see.
No idea then really...
With a bit of luck this Friday, but most likely Monday perhaps?

This is why we can't have good things...

And so people who actually want to play those games get screwed over and over again by scalpers. SMH.

normally i'd say really, is it worth the hassle

but

1. with amazon prime the 2 sonic games will be here tomorrow
2. my card isn't charged because i already have some gift balance
3. i can send them in for free and using the same packaging
4. they'll automatically add the gift card to my account
