Why do so many Doom Bringer get scorched earth instead of lvl doom? It's one of the biggest nukes early game.
less mana cost, heals urself, SE also does more dmg as long as u stay on them, which doom likes to do anyways, also gives bonus ms

I like Tobi more then Purge when it comes to commentating on a tournament game (Purge's Tutorial Videos are great though), but I think we can agree both just stomp all over Luminous. I think I would take the auto director over Luminous.
luminous is great, you just can't see it.
Well, I clearly don't see it. Find me a VOD of a game that you think would prove he is great.
Thanks tonne JT.
I'm Tiny, in a lane up against Drow Ranger and Sniper. Is there anything I can do to get some last hits?
You haven't even said why he's bad, so how can I fill a criteria where I think he's good?
I asked this last week but would it be possible to do something like this within the neogaf dota group for the beginners? Watching this was incredibly informative and I can't help but think it would be even moreso as a participant.

Lumi's good in the sense that he has a very good understanding of game mechanics. His team synergy and pick/ban analysis leaves some room to improve though, and he is notorious for missing kills, but all in all he's a very good caster.
Purge sucks, IDK why you guys like him. Tobi is just loud and excitable, nothing else there, although I applaud his ability to get non-dota players interested in the game. Honestly, the only good dota caster that I enjoyed was MadMortigan.
Here's a pretty good read on casters and why they're all shitty in dota:

We tried doing this a few days ago and people only managed to learn so much. I recall dying a few times while trying to type out tips for the new guy. lol
I think the better idea is to do this against easy bots. You can pause the game and give tips on specific scenarios as you go along without being concerned about the pacing for the other team.

Ah...Voice chat should be a prerequisite for all participants. I can't imagine teaching this game while typing and playing at the same time. Any chance you guys doing this again? Or is this a no go from this point on?
So, here are my general thoughts on DOTA2 after playing a week of beta (mostly just compared to HoN).
The bad:
-I felt like HoN moved in a more overall positive direction than dota by emphasizing faster paced games, more ganking, and "skill shots" on some of their well-designed heroes (and I'd readily acknowledge that many do not fit this description). I really do not enjoy farm-fest games that end with spectre-domination in the 60th minute...this sort of game to me really represents the stagnant aspects of the genre, and i'd like to see it change. I don't have a problem with carries fulfilling their roles, but the game should be able to be won reliably earlier on, so that every game doesn't just devolve into carry v carry. Perhaps there just aren't enough good gank/push heroes implemented yet?
And finally some random questions that have come up:
-How do I whisper another player (who isn't on my friends list)?
-Is there a banlist or any plans to implement one?
-Has icefrog given an ETA on getting SD and other game modes in to the game?
-Were there some console commands that I am supposed to input to make the game more responsive / reduce lag? Also...I don't know how to open the console.
-Are there plans to implement a stat tracking system that also matches players according to skill ala PSR in HoN?
Also Tobi+Synderen rocks, eff the haters.
Yep Tobi+Synderen is the best casting combo atm. Waga is an alright stand in, Maelk isn't. PremierLeague guys are just kind of dull with lots of pauses and dead air, not detrimental though.
Test Client, so Bane, TA, PA, and Gyro.Hopefully Bane today?

you guys leave luminous alone. :O
his sniper may suck, but his casting is awesome.
Why not ask for this weeks lottery numbers too?![]()
:lol. Have no idea how people have a problem with this.
Only an issue for new players, and they could just follow the recommended items anyway.
I hope we get at least 1 hero in stable. Bane would be a good choice since he's been done for a while most likely. So he's stable enough I would think.
And hopefully we get the assassins duo in the test client then.
Tobi is better.
This Purge guy is better than both of them though.
And WTF at Doom Bringer pick, first time I've seen him since the Internationals.
Recommended items are pretty fucking bad though.
Depends on the hero, they're generally decent and very few are completely wrong.
Amended!Just want to make a minor correction, you should start with Gauntlets of strength, not a Bracer.
Yeah, he really needs that Scepter somewhere on the recommended list. It's a constant point of annoyance every time I play him. Most of them seem to be missing at least 2 regular pickups under core or situational and tons of why would you ever get this choices under situational.
I think im just really pissed off at the Dark Seer list when I played him the other day.
Another negative preview of Dota 2. I think having a public beta without any sort of implemented teaching tools was a massive blunder on Valve's part. I've read many negative impressions online and several of my friends didn't enjoy the game because it assumes you are xXxGoSuPr0xXx.
YES. Fucking YES."The interfacing also hurts the game as well, taking up way too much of the screen for comfort. Given the level of zoom on the action, this can lead to situations where you end up clicking on your HUD instead of a spot on the playfield in an attempt to run away."
hnrghrgbg It better be a big update next week!!
Not to be a white knight here but...
It's a free game.
A free great game.
Let go of the sense of entitlement, and get used to Valve Time.
Could at least tell us earlier, I'm sure they've know for days, or at least hours.
