They could at least push up the FEB to - RIGHT NOW! Most of the people getting it early don't have the FEB.
They already shouldn't be "too happy" given all the people getting the system early who aren't FEB buyers.
I don't know if I can hold out any longer. I told myself I would not get this at launch.
Played a demo unit a couple nights ago at GameStop and now I can't stop thinking that I need a Vita at launch.

Just got back from the Gamestop and picked up my 16GB card, Charging Dock and Sony branded screen protectors. They got their FEB's in today and are doing a midnight for the FEB's on Tuesday. The manager was not happy about having to work a midnight on Valentines day for the 15 FEB preorders that this particular store has. >={
I actually have the Hori protectors on order from Amazon but may cancel that order if I'm happy with the Sony's. Or I may put a Sony protector on the back and put the Hori on the front since it provides fuller protection and is cheap as chips.

Sounded like he got confused by the set up messages and turned it off sometime in that process.
Either that or bad luck.
Vita won't turn on until you charge it for a certain amount of time. So that was probably what made him think it was bricked.

Yeah, it's definitely finicky with the power in not so obvious ways.
I believe the only launch system issue apart from that one was my memory card issue (which was easily rectified).
Yeah, they should. As more and more leak out, it's hard not to get irritated as I made a commitment to Sony months ago with my preorder.

All my local shops have a demo unit in now - whilst I was pretending to look at boxes hoping the guy would come over and demo it to me, I noticed that everybody else he tried to show it to had a complete lack of interest in it - most didn't even seem to know a new console was even about to come out, and when he tried explain the functionality they tended to just grunt and pay no real interest.
Maybe it was just a tough crowd, but it's made me a little worried seeing so much apathy towards something I'm about to invest in - I think due to the look of the machine and the lack of a unique selling point it really needs much more advertising. We all have touch screens in our pockets these-days
On the bright side, I think I made his day by actually wanting to try it out and nosey at it. And yes, it's bloody lovely.

I was so excited to play with one. I played with it for like an hour or something and I was the only one who even approached the demo person.

The 3DS was definitely marketed better and that performed underwhelmingly until the price drop right? I hope the Vita does well enough to justify games being developed for it and localized. I love my PSP and what happened to that makes me really sad.

Same here...I've had my system preordered on amazon for about a month now, and I'm going nuts seeing how other people have been able to get it early through other means. I'm tempted to cancel my amazon order now that I heard my local gamestop is having a midnight release...but I feel really stupid if I do that, and end up paying the $18 extra in sales tax right now just to get it 12 hours early, ugh. That's almost half the cost of another game.

what other people think of a system i'm interested in makes no difference to me. i fell in love (ok, little bit of hyperbole there) with the hardware the first time i saw it. i don't care if no one else in the world buys one. i want one day one. i'm super hyped. word of mouth will sell this thing. look at the 3ds. a friend of mine that doesn't really game much asked me if i got a new ds the other day (because my ds is crimson and black and my 3ds is black). i said, no, it's a 3ds. he didn't even know what that was (he knows playstation and xbox and that's it). i showed it to him and he thought it was awesome. 3d with no glasses blew his mind and now he wants one. wait till he gets a load of this thing. he is amazed by his kindle fire. the vita will surely blow his mind.

Nice thanks. Very cool unboxing actually, showed me everything I wanted to see. I'm still glad I'm getting that FEB for that carrying case. Seeing it up close, I really do like that case. I didn't know it had a compartment for cables also. Looks like the perfect case for me.
Only played it for ~10 mins last september but seemed to be a great little timewaster to me. Sometime you keep going back to to try and beat your top score and shit.

Dayummmmm... last night I checked the estimated delivery date for HSG from Amazon.com. It said 15th. I cancelled, and then re-ordered it, and it had updated to Feb. 13th. I did that at about... somewhere between 7 and 9PM E.S.T. The game got here before 5PM today. WOW!
I guess I might as well get the rest of my gear since I'm going to be staring at this one box anyway.

At least you didn't go for the true first edition by importing one, haha...
(yeah, I imported one, but I got it from Amazon Japan and had a friend forward it, so I only really had to pay extra for shipping + weak dollar)
Tain: D-pad is fine imho. Only problem I have is that sometimes my thumb hits the left stick a bit. Screen is awesome, playing the retro game collections on it is amazing.
Also someone who isn't me needs to test Gradius Collection...
