Leaning towards the white ipad. Do white iPad 2 owners see any age in the white color? Or does the white still look fresh and new like the first day you bought it?

See previous page.

Would I realistically run out of 16b fast? Never used a tablet and I am flabbergasted by the small ammount of on board memory and the rediculous price increase for more memory.

I did on my iPhone with games. Having to delete and re-download stuff is annoying.

And I'm sure games for this will will reach 1gb or more more often.

Apple doesn't even give out RAM stats at all. Which is probably just as well in the tablet marketplace, given the near-total disconnect between apparent specs of tablets and real-world user experience. Not to say more RAM wouldn't be great, of course, but I don't read anything in to the particular amount of RAM it has.

well, its definitely no joke in either case, and i'm not really a fan of android performance capabilities. apple knows how to design their software to fit the hardware.

i'd probably guess it has 4gigs of ram, at the very least 2 gigs.

current consoles have like 512mb of ram.

iphoto! icalledit.gif

Really hope they let me send my snaps off to be printed and physically mailed. Will make grandma the happiest woman on the planet

and, boom, iphoto is announced. very good, very good. the organization stuff better be top notch. editing is already very robust with third party apps.

edit:

It’s all about photo editing — effects, editing, photo-beaming (from device to device), and new photo journals.

hmmm

Can anyone else remotely launch a competitor to this? I'm trying to see how they'd plan on doing that at a $500 price point. IDK WTF I'd do if I was an Android tablet maker. Try and launch something between the iPad 2 and iPad 3 @ $300? IDK...

"you can beam photos directly between devices"

This is what it's all about, I'll be taking photos and recording with my 4S and then beaming them to the iPad at once

Seeing all this functionality on the iPad I can't help but feel some envy towards women. Carrying a purse around makes it possible to carry an iPad around all the time. That just isn't practical for guys, which makes it more of a home product for me. That makes it a much more questionable buy....

iPhoto is surprisingly good. I'm not a big fan of Picasa and despite owning a Mac of some sort for maybe 10 years now I never got into iPhoto until last week when I was doing some maintenance on my photos and I was really surprised to see that it works as well as it does.

Honestly allowing iPhoto to do full-resolution iCloud backups of all your photos would be a total killer app. We've got maybe 30-35 gigs of photos and there's no good remote backup solution for them.

Edit: Automatic deduping/comparison is useful too, especially since most camera phones have HDR now so a lot of people have duplicate images.

Have they mentioned pricing for the LTE models? Is it still the 130$ premium?

4gigs?!?!! holy shit, don't be so stingy with the drugs

lol they will fight at $300 price point for sure

Just get a tote bag?

I cannot imagine how they managed to go on stage to demo an inking app with a straight face without any talk of a pressure sensitive stylus.

It's probably some bullshit about keeping the branding about "touch" and not confusing consumers (which it wouldn't).

Either that or Wacom would sue them...

Basically it renders drawing on iPad a toy and keeps it from being something actually useful.

Probably quicker than this generation. Chip manufacturers are all pushing for lower power requirements and energy efficiency more than ever.

No doubt. If it only takes, say, 3 years or less for the iPad to catch up with the 720 or whatever, it's going to be pretty weird. :lol

It's not a quad-core. It's a dual-core with quad-core graphics. You guys bought right into Apple's rhetoric, huh?

Don't get me wrong, iPad 3 is a beast, and I would get one just for that sexy retina display it'll have, but statements like that will make iPad 3 owners to brag when the device is still behind other tech, only because "numbers are bigger".

It's still a pretty pretty device!

Ok, I don't know if I want 32gb or 16 gb 4g. I kind of would rather not have to worry about space, especially since this looks like it's going to be awesome for media. I would fucking love to get that SD card thing and plug my SD card in from my camera to look at my freshly taken pictures.

I got a white iPad 2 and it still looks fresh. No color differentiation in the white.

no hate. But touting that you finally managed to squeak 1gb of memory in your mega tablet in 2012 is a joke

Memory is actually a big energy sink that drags battery performance when these devices are asleep, since it always has to be on. Microsoft was having issues with it as well.

I don't believe Apple needs buttons, but I do think haptic touch will be a game changer, pun intended. It is what I really want out of a touch device and changes the way games can be played.

You'll probably have to wait for another tablet line failure if you want to get a high-end tablet for that money, tbh.
What would justify buying an iPad over a laptop when they're practically in the same price range? Not trolling, I'd like to buy that new iPad but I feel like it's overpriced even though it has no real competitors in the tablet market.

Eh... I have a backpack I take basically everywhere with me. In this day and age I just have to much shit I want/need to carry around with me. Granted if I'm going to something purely outside like say a sporting event or something I don't bring it. Most everywhere else though I just grab my bag when I'm headed out the door and throw it in the passenger seat of my car.
