Mass Effect 3 SPOILER THREAD: LOTS OF SPECULATION FROM EVERYONE

Well he was the one Neogaf'ers have posted past interviews with in the last couple pages that indicate huge issues with the ending compared to what he was saying. He is pretty clear as to what we would get...which is not what we would get.

I will say this. With the donations(Not alot but that news story is quickly being put on on major news outlets and gaming outlets), the outcry itself. I could see a company looking at it. Again not to forget it HAS happened where a company adjusted the ending to a game due to complaints.

If you are talking about the Giant Bomb interview yes he did actually say that, but maybe he was telling the truth at the time. The company could have been and is too close to the project to realize their choice of ending was wrong and now they want to try and correct that mistake. The Shepard alive destory ending contradicts this, but maybe that was for something else. I could also see the codex messages being evidence against it, but I have to imagine adding those things take all of 5minutes and are managed server side so an app update isn't even need for new ones.

Hudson tweeted how great the Deception book was and then it turned out to have a ton of errors and terrible writing.
This is disheartening and is harder to defend the best I could say is maybe he took somebody else's word for it, which still isn't a good thing.

I just don't understand how someone who wrote all of those interesting stories/dialogues on the missions can write the same drivel for the ending? I'd just assume that different people write different parts of the game. In that case, can someone on Bioware please fire whoever wrote the ending and stick one of the more competent writers to rewrite the ending? Thx!

Destroy ending with 5000 or more galactic readiness gives you 5 sec of Shep's hard breathing and most organic life surviving, one assumes.

I've held this opinion since the beginning, but I think ME3 features both the highest highs and the lowest lows of the ME series' writing quality.

The scene with Liara's time capsule and Garrus at the Citadel are both incredible moments - up there with the best.

Yet the game is still chock full of awful, campy dialog and lacks some of the humor and wit that is present in ME2. And of course the ending, which goes without saying. Okay I'll say it anyway the ending is balls.

Oh I'm full Paragon, I wonder if it won't let me do it then.
Did you make him shoot himself? You don't get the option to shoot him if you did. For obvious reasons. Well, you could shoot his corpse a few times out of spite, but Shepard has bigger problems than that at the time.

That would be something if fans raised the money to develop proper endings. It would be an offer EA couldn't refuse but still would managed to mess up in some capacity.
When they see that people are ready to spend the cash on it, there's no way they'll let BW go without an expansion/DLC.

Someone should really make a thread about the child's play drive.

Not it!

I think the issue is that perhaps a thread that talks about a drive that asks to change the ending could be considered something of a spoiler in that it helps set certain expectations for people?

i was full Paragon until Kai Leng tried to stab me in the back. the Renegade option is FUCKING AWESOME.

So badass...

that's what i did too. so gooddddddddddddddddddddddd

but people said it isn't that much different from not prompting the renegade option

Wow, anyone else noticed that the Child's Play charity deal that was setup to change the endings has reached over $23,000???

I'm amazed and in awe.

I kind of feel it would be inappropriate for Bioware to accept the money from this.

A) They didn't ask for it.
B) They aren't some tiny dev like Double Fine and are an EA owned studio.
C) With Mircosoft's policy people with have to pay for it no matter what.

It would set a bad precedent throw enough money at us and we will do what you want.

It's ridiculous that a company with unlimited resources couldn't craft a sword that doesn't get broken by a fist.

It's less badass and more just very very stupid

aw, really? felt good at the time, lol

i enjoyed my Omni-Blade stabbing him in the gut :D

The money will be refunded no doubt. It's just to show to Bioware how serious everyone is about how much they feel duped by the ending.

All right, let me try again. See if I can't get a better ending. The Synergy was shit.

Also, yeah, you have to choose Renegade dialogue right before he goes nuts and you'll get a chance to shoot him. Otherwise, if you go straight paragon he'll just shoot himself.

Not sure what that gaming site (RPS?) was bitching about hte other day when they were "forced to choose Renegade" after being pure Paragon.

You have to make compromises somewhere. Do you want him to be able to walk and not have to go around eating other people's cereal, or a sword that won't break?

The money is going to Charity though. It's to raise awareness about people hating the ending and showing they are willing to spend money to change it.

And yeah, Space Katanas aren't very tough...

The scene with Liara's time capsule and Garrus at the Citadel are both incredible moments - up there with the best.

I wish there's a video capture function or better, FMV viewer on the console version because I want to relive those moments again and again without replaying the game for a long time. I think I did save in some points before those scenes but I can't remember which saves they are because there's no detail information about each save apart from your location.

Still think we should start a kickstart for bioware to help them fund the new ending without publisher support. Because like it or not, it will cost a shit ton to redo -- and if you want it for free that's the only way... i'd be down chipping in.

Also, listen to the Giantbomb podcast with Casey Hudson, it's basically all lies. He says vocally what people have been saying, "The ending is an accumulation of your choices as shepard" ect. ect.

All the money goes to the Child's Play charity, not to Bioware. This achieves a few things:

a) people are putting their money where their mouth is
b) at the same time, they're not forgiving Bioware for a crappy ending
c) it's also a way to get a better ending without giving money to Bioware for an unfinished product (IMO)
d) it gets more attention (or should) than petition #6340932
e) best of all, it's for a good cause

The problem with this is that Bioware is under a contract with EA (at least I assume so) so if they try to circumvent EA, they might lose EA support/funding for later ventures.

Kai Leng just seemed really stupid. Like, the idea of a Cerberus super agent was kinda cool but Leng was like, trying too hard to look cool and badass. It's especially funny with how easy he was to beat and how Shep beats him.

I think they're all the same asides from different colors of explosions.

Youtube it? That's what I did for Liara's gift (Non-Romance). Great scene.

I didn't realize the charity thing was actually a charity. I thought it was some cheeky "we'll pay for the new ending if you won't" initiative. Well in, for whoever threw $10k at it.

As for Mr Hudson, you can't take anything he ever says at face value. He's there for PR and to keep people aware and positive about his game. I would expect most people in his position to be filthy liars.

Yeah I found Leng to be a terrible villain. He looked awful - that ponytail was lulz-worthy and they gave him that really stupid eye cover - and he brought nothing to the table as a character. Looked like the first sketch from a somewhat gifted high school art student trying to make a future ninja character. Can't believe that chump took out Thane, even if Thane was half-dead already, nevermind that he almost killed Miranda. He was so non-threatening and dull.

I had no idea what Thane was thinking, running to cereal ninja like that. He had a gun. Duder had a knife.

i swear they were trying to make him like Darth Maul or something.

So I have not played Mass Effect 3, nor will I for a while, so I don't really care about spoilers too much. However, I have a question...

Apparently this ending is really fucking bad. Can anyone give me a recap as to what happens, why it's terrible, and why it's worth donating $25000 to get changed?

Imagine that Frodo got rid of the ring and is now lying there with Sam when a giant eagle picks him up and carries him into magic elf land where he is told by a tiny midget elf that he was the master behind Sauron and now Frodo has to make a choice between killing all the orcs and other such magical beings which would include elves, controlling them and becoming the new lord of dark shit or making everyone half-orc-elf-human-hobbit-dwarfs. Then you see a cutscene where green clouds explode from Mordor and there's a clip of everyone growing elf-ears.

There is actually 1 ending, three colors, no payoff from 5 years of gaming, and a chubby kid who casts spells and mesmorizes Shepard into not asking any questions and choosing from 3 options.
Die quick
Die quick
Appear to die quick

Now take those die quick options and tie them to choices that have no fucking connection to the prior themes, and then you have about 1/10th of what is wrong. And that ignores the logic issues, errors, teleporting people, and cowardly squad-members loosing their nuts and running for their lives leaving you to...NOT die possibly.
