Mass Effect 3 SPOILER THREAD: LOTS OF SPECULATION FROM EVERYONE

Because people were freaking out. Doesn't mean they denied the Indoctrination rumors. #istillbelieve

If they consider changing the ending, that theory provides a nice route to go forward on. Even if they deny it outright, that's not ruling it out. Important thing is to get them to change the ending.

Odds aren't good of that, but then, they're getting a pretty epic shitstorm right now. And Shepard wouldn't quit despite the odds, so I say keep at it.

I really don't think Bioware could design a final boss that's actually good. We'd get Reaperbaby 2.0 or some QTE fest.

And a conversation with Anderson is the perfect denouement, anyways.

TO BE CLEAR:
The app in question was created by Geoff Keighley of Gametrailers. It was made from materials he collected, with support from BioWare, in the weeks before Mass Effect 3 is launched. This app is NOT BioWare's "official response about the endings of the game", or similar. We will be addressing the endings in the future as I have indicated in this thread.

You are welcome to discuss this app and it's content, but please follow the site rules when you post. We do not allow swearing, fighting or abuse of staff, moderators or our company.

If anybody is going to the panel in a group of three, could you please dress up as red, blue, and green?

Final bosses are classic good game design staples.

Look at what the alternative was. A super long cutscene with Anderson and TIM talking. Woo, it's not as gamey!

ME2 could have lived without a final boss. ME3 was worse for it.

They wanted a final boss fight that was all intelligence.

Err...That was all Dialogue Wheel

Which is what made the Star Child so annoying. We'd already had the climax.

Does anybody actually have the app?

I'd like to get context on Hudson's quote about the future of the franchise and new content being set during or prior to ME3's end. I wan't to know if the quote was in reference to DLC, or something else.

They better choose that address wisely. To make the fans happy, they need something like gaming's version of Gettysburg.

Looks like someone is having fun.

I don't understand the need for Shepard to die in the ending. That shit is soo played out! Hasn't the whole "Hero dies" thing been done to death? What would shock me more is a nice ending where my Shepard and Liara got to have those little blue children running around and the crew that I worked so hard to keep alive actually got to live happily ever after in a new age of galactic peace where all the races united. How about that?

What's weird is that they do the stupid thing action games that don't want final bosses do: ME3 puts you in a room with waves of enemies and just tells you to survive.

Except they make it frustrating to do so because so many things can one-hit kill you and make the layout confusing as hell to fight in.

These are just the first couple of posts from some random page of the Final Hours thread:

I still believe.
Hold the line.

THIS....

we may of lost hope in the indoctrination theory people that does not mean we still cant turn this around.

HOLD THE LINE people HOLD THE DAMNED LINE.

do not waver, do not despair

just HOLD THE LINE.

I want to. I really, really want to. I just....I am losing strength. Really, after days of fan outrage and reaction, being trashed and namecalled and flamed and told 'Thanks for your feedback' and 'We are listening'.....They post these 'insights', and STILL have not posted even a simple acknowledgement that something is wrong with their product....

The line wavers....

Hold the Line!!
this doesn't prove that we're loosing an after dlc
you can't trust casey's statements anyway
when sales are dropping he'll just say
guys this interview was just faked to surprise you with this after me3 dlc

This is a declaration of war

I'm probably gonna grab it in couple of hours when I can get hold of an iPad. I will grab screen caps post them here if nobody else has by then.

This (the ios information app) reminds me of when I read one of the auto industry tell-alls, such as a book describing how this one set of engineers missed weight goals by 500 lbs or what-not...and they allowed documentary access of this to a writer. You freely let the info get out there and that's that, address it without qualification.

That would be good. I just want some context for that particular quote is all.

She died twice :(

Oh god LMAO. This day is out of control. Every time I think about the mods on the BSN, I see Joker frantically typing on the control during the final cutscene. It must be chaos over there.

ME1 really had the best final boss of the series.

Every moment in the game was building up to a confrontation with Saren and Saren + Reaper Tech was just strong enough to really force Shepard on to his heels.

I don't know about you, I think they will retcon the ending to appease the fans. At this point, it's the path of least resistance.

The meltdowns on BSN are pretty entertaining.
It's like the End Times over there. A bit sad, mostly kinda funny.

I'm so far along on processing my grief I just chuckle wryly at it all now. But damn those twitter trolls make me fucking laugh every time, those poor bastards working thankless social media jobs at BioWare must wish they were denying health insurance claims or defending Big Tobacco or something more fun.

When I saw Shepard limping around, I thought immediately of MGS4. Now, MGS4 is also another game with a widely criticized ending, but at least that final fight with ocelot is pretty satisfying.

I would have been happy to go mano a mano with the illusive man or something.

Don't think there's anything I liked about the final mission in ME3. It's all terrible from the moment you select earth on the galactic map.

lol at BSN. So I'm guessing this is the reaction on pretty much every gaming related forum? Fans all over the net are in an outrage?

So, I just beat it. Not gonna read all 10k posts so can someone summarize the crux of the rage? Not to stir the pot, but what was so god-awful terrible about that that it demands a petition to have the entire ending changed? The kid?

I picked to have Shep pull an Illusive Man and control the Reapers. Dunno what happens with the other endings yet; I need to check them on youtube. I thought the ending I got was appropriate. Shepard sacrifices himself for the good of all, both organic and synthetic. I had built up my character to care about both equally so it was fitting. His sacrifice at the end was also very, uh, Jesus-like, which is basically the character in a nutshell.

The one major beef I had with the ending was with Harbinger. First of all, he should have been guarding the transport beam entire damn time. It's completely silly that it was guarded by a basic Destroyer.

And then Harbinger just lands and completely cleans house - nearly murdering Shepard when everything else had failed to do so - then just leaves? Where exactly did he go? That got a serious short shrift. He's built up as not only the oldest and wisest Reaper, but utterly superior in a fight, and he just disappears when his species' fate hangs in the balance.

Oh yeah, that is absolutely going to happen now.

But it's never going to change the fact that this was always the intended ending. Bethesda did a mea culpa on Fallout 3, but even they berate you at the end if you have the changed ending DLC.
