I'm confused since I just got back into comics recently. Does this X-men vs Avenger thing that kicks off in April have a prequel that is going on right now? Is this what X-sanction is? I need to know where to start to catch up.

That's what it is. Avoid at all costs as it's horrendous.

Haha well that confirms nothing's changed with their silly annual crossovers.

Just looking for a good jumping in point for Avengers and New Avengers. I did start reading the X books at Schism and reading a bunch of Image/indy stuff.

Had to post this because it's Liefeld and people just eat that sh*t up.

Rob Liefeld pleads for your help to save Grifter, Deathstroke, and Hawkman; says "sales have fallen off a cliff"

Now, please note that Rob hasn't actually taken over these books YET, and his first issues won't reach shelves until May. The guy may just be exaggerating, but we probably won't know until we see numbers from March and learn how the announcement of his taking over affected these books. They are on the low end of the spectrum, though.

Sales are probably falling off the cliff for the whole "new 52" but DC is trying to save face.

How is it that you posted those two pages from the preview but not the next one, with the misconstrued homoerotic undertones?

So many things wrong with that image... or so many things right?

Go ahead, give it a squeeze Steve. Tony won't mind.
:O

thats... incredibly depressing to me.

its not so bad on solo books, didnt he do alias? group books...ugh he murders characters by over doing it.

new avengers burned me on bendis speak. all the damn unneeded word bubbles.

yeah for all that talking..it was a pretty uneventful book for the first 10 or so issues. a couple good ones scattered in there but Secret definitely became the best avengers book when it was all said and done.

That's actually reall cool art. Who does it?

Anyone know how the writing assignments on AvsX broken up ?

The first five issues make up Act 1, all drawn by Romita Jr, and they let everybody get a swing at it. First Bendis, then Aaron, Brubaker, Hickman, and finally Fraction. Then issue #6 kicks off the second act, bigger-then-average issue with Oliver Copiel on artwork written by Hickman, then #7 is Fraction, and #8 is Bendis. After that, who knows, but Adam Kubert drawing all four issues of the third act, so it's gonna look nice, at least.

Dunno about the whole line at this point, but it's been fairly apparent to those looking at the sales charts that DC has more than just the six books ending next month selling below the cancellation threshold, that they only had six new books ready for May (possibly just five - there are rumors that GI Combat is simply a retitled Men of War), and that they're publishing money-losing books (Captain Atom, Voodoo, Blue Beetle) for a few more months solely for the sake of maintaining the New 52 branding.

lol @ having a "jumping on point" seven issues into a new series

what has Jim Lee moved on to? noticed he didn't do the last Justice League. which means JL is getting canceled for me.

This is a fucking shame for at least one reason: the first seven (and I'm gonna call it right now also the eighth) issues of Deathstroke are fucking awesome.

It's got a nice story about a guy who's getting old, but who's still pretty good at violently murdering people. Maybe even the best. At least that's what he tells himself. He wants to be the best, and he wants the rest of the world to believe that he's the best. But in his quest to be the best at murder, he may have fucked up pretty much everything that didn't involve a significant amount of bloodshed. And he's getting old, which isn't helping.

It's also a story where Deathstroke gets a team of sidekicks, which he proceeds to murder in cold blood at the end of a mission just to make a point.

It's also a story where Deathstroke says he's gonna chop a dude in half, and then proceeds to do so by throwing him into the blades of an helicopter.

And it's also a story where DEATHSTROKE KILLS A GUY BY THROWING A FUCKING NUCLEAR SUBMARINE IN HIS FUCKING FACE.

It's also quite gorgeous to look at, thanks to the efforts of Joe Bennett. But mostly it's fucking awesome because what's not to love about violence and explosions?

Yeah, Deathstroke was the head scratcher. Higgins was very passionate. He had a cool thing going, and it's painful to have it ruined by Liefeld.

I bailed out of Secret way back when they slandered my boy Nova. Never looked back.

This kinda sounds like The Wrestler in comic form.

Save for the "Hey so now Captain America is totally okay with torturing people", Ellis' run was pretty fucking sweet done in one stories with great artists to boot. And now Remender is doing his Uncanny X-Force thing but with Avengers. What I'm saying is maybe you should consider looking back, because it's been pretty good.

90's Image fans are pretty stupid. :\

DC has been dragging their ass with those trades, man. Still got one more to go, probably won't see the light of day til 2013

But soon, I will own them all forever and ever. MWAHAHAHAHA
