U.S. healthcare system horror stories?

Why not? It's the easiest way. FDA already has a list of all of it.Well, I'm not meaning to say they are Weight Watchers level. Any dining out experience is filled with unhealthy choices, so to single out McDonald's or fast food in general is kind of silly.

The salads are healthy plus they have other low fat stuff as well. It's a large chunk in comparison to other fast food menus. If all of them are garbage then McD's is still one of the healthiest options in terms of choices.

Define healthy? Their salads have meat that is high in sodium and nitrates. Both horrible for you in moderate to high doses. High Sodium especially if youre not consistently working out.

Their dressings are full of either fats and/or sugars, including fructose, and with low or no fiber to counter the absorption fructose is metabolized through the liver and in too high of consumption can lead to fatty liver disease along with other issues. Though their dressings aren't horrible offenders. But all ingrediants combined it's not the greatest.

Their wraps have much of the same problems. And 90% of them just look bad for you. And I'm hoping you aren't including their grilled sandwiches as healthy, because their not. Their grilled chicken with no mayo might be ok if it weren't for the shitty quality of bread and meat.

I mean looking at their nutrition charts I might be comfortable eating a salad with no meat and ginger or low fat balsamic dressing and that's pretty much it.....oh and the apple slices, id eat those on a healthy diet.

Even if you don't give a shit about the health of your fellow citizen, it's prudent to actually have universal healthcare because it's better financially for everyone. It's better for them to get access to doctors and get preventative care then to wait until they get really sick and have to go to the emergency room without insurance. You're going to pay for it in the long run regardless. Less money is spent if preventative care is offered.

Yes, UHC makes sense from both a pragmatic and ideological standpoint.

It doesn't even have to be government-run. Germany uses private companies to insure everyone. We just do it all wrong. Hopefully Obama's reforms can get us in the right direction after some tweaks.

The doctors tried to sue you? Good god on what basis?

Their collection companies tried to sue me.

Usually if a bill goes unpaid for 6 months, they turn it over to a collection agency. Some hospitals are fucking militant about it though and send you to collections after 90 days, if you haven't paid or tried to make arrangements to pay.

I remember walking into the office of the business office manager of the hospital we owed over $200,000 to and asking for mercy. I explained our situation and told they guy there was no way I could make payment arrangements to pay back $200,000 on top of all the other medical bills we were getting. He was like...sorry man, sucks this happened to you, but you make too much money to qualify for any help and I've got 99 problems of my own right now.

Your concept of health is really screwed up when you think the answer to obesity is McDonald's and Diet Coke. I can't believe how well their marketing brainwashes people.

You know, you're posts would come off much less dickish if you actually answered people's questions with reasoning and evidence rather than just "no no no" or "you're wrong"
