I know the Skullgirls Quick Look isn't as "entertaining" as others as a result, but the emphasis on training mode is a good thing IMO. People need to make that a big deal, it's the most progressive part of Skullgirls IMO and getting that out there to create that precedent and standard for fighting games is important.

But what's this about Namco holding patents?

Namco patented being able to pick a move off a move list and watch the character actually execute it. It's like their patent on putting playable games in loading screens.

I thought I heard somewhere that Sega has patents on the awesome shit in their VF training modes too, but I could be wrong.

I guess they did that so someone who's not familiar with chess could get through it.
I never realized that because I got them all right the first time.

Nope, Etrian Odyssey is a turn based rpg with random encounters (or sure they're both Dungeon Crawlers but they really don't play the same way), same goes for the Wizardry games.
