Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Beta Thread of key begging

I have no idea how that decision point thing makes the game better. Why would you want to limit a players options within a class? Let alone making them choose without even really understanding the items they're choosing between?

Sure having to pick and choose between stuff for your loadout is interesting, but you should have unlimited loadouts (or respecs, whatever same diff) so you can bounce back and forth between different builds because that's FUN. The player experiencing everything your game has to offer is a good thing.

But hey, filling bars amirite?

Eventually you get two more characters which I assume you can have an alternative decision point build on but that means one of your builds will be locked in until you relevel it (i.e. you two engineers, two riflemen, and one scout as your 5 characters).

This really doesn't excuse having those decision points in the first place though. I disagree with the unlock system in general and that is probably arguable but the decision tiers are just stupid. This isn't a RPG!

It seems like a terrible twist on a "prestige' system. Basically you level through 50 once, reset, level through 50 again picking opposite decision points then reset and level again because you found out you made the right choices the first time. Hey, we just made our game 200% longer!

Well hopefully everyone comes to their senses before we start seeing respec/character slot micro-transactions in full price titles. Mass Effect 3 has broken some new ground.....

Not only are these things unlocks but a lot of them are DECISION POINT unlocks where you can only pick one of them and be stuck with that until you decide to reroll. I think this is a terrible idea as it limits the amount of options you have to play tactically.

For example if you had an engineer build with UAV and you were spotting the other team, clearing them out but you couldn't capture the point in time but all your teammates also speced for UAV you'd be boned. If you had options available to you, one person could spot, the team could clear them out and someone with a field computer could cap it faster before the other team could reinforce.

When the unlock system is detrimental to the fundamental gameplay it needs to be scrapped or tweaked. The only purpose it serves right now is to artificially lengthen how long you "need" to play which shouldn't even be an issue if your core gameplay is fun.

I say scrap this shit. Immediately. The progression branching is an idiotic idea and further cements the imbalance between the classes.

All this progression tree does is punish new players for the sole reason to have an arbitrary meta game in MP. Let players unlock uniforms and weapons, but keep the gameplay relevant equipment out of progression and available from the start.

Progression like that works with games like Cod, as the gadgets aren't part of specific class roles, but in games like BF or GR locking essential gameplay options behind an idiotic progression system is simply counter productive. It encourages grinding, lessens the focus on diverse play styles and ultimately cheapens the classes to a point where they simply don't matter beyond their name.

Creative and personalized gameplay is the pinnacle of a good class based shooter. But those personalizations should be fluid and not as rigid and backwards as they are in GRFS.

It's basically as idiotic as BF3 locking essential items like repair tools and refibrilators to lower classes.

Was there a behind the scenes patch or something?
probably just be lag but its taking half a clip+ of AR to kill and something is up with grenades.

I noticed a change yesterday evening. Either ARs have been lowered in accuracy considerably or it might simply be lag.

417 which was a 2 burst kill is taking 3-4 for me now.

I think people will laugh about scouts 'underpowered' weapons after they unlock some of the later ones.
The VSS Sniper rifle is hilarious, its a machine gun sniper with a high fire rate.

Told myself I was going to play this but I'll probably not get round to it, quote for EU PSN key(not sure if the keys are region specific). Enjoy

Dude the starting sniper for scouts is good. No one ever said it was underpowered. I've been saying the scout class isn't competitive with the others because it doesn't really play a team role and definitely not one that a rifleman or engineer can't fill and do a better job at.

The fact that you think a high level gun is going to be uberpowerful just shows how stupid the unlock system is going to be anyway.

We're pushing balance and game play changes live at 6:00pm EDT. Servers will be rebooted at that time

Patch notes

360 ONLY - Grenades are over-powered: we are reducing the grenade blast kill-radius according to your feedback and the analysis of your matches.
360 ONLY - Confusion was caused by the 4-man party and 6-man team matchmaking: we are increasing the maximum party size to 6 in order to align with the team size.
360 & PS3 - We are universally increasing the speed of XP acquisition in order to gain additional feedback on the weapons and equipment unlocked later in the character progression system.
360 & PS3 - Last but not least, in thanks for the feedback you have provided, we are releasing the Saboteur game type early today.

In Saboteur use stealth and cunning to capture the explosive briefcase and detonate it on the opposing team's objective. Saboteur really emphasizes the teamwork aspect of Ghost Recon Future Soldier, and we hope that you’ll enjoy it as much as we do.

Currently Grenades and Party changes will only be active on Xbox 360; we are working to bring these changes to the PS3 Beta as well. Changes will be active across the platforms listed and require a reboot of the servers (currently scheduled for 6:00pm EDT). We will revise this thread with additional updates as we publish them.

Now that's some good ass shit....but will it fix the god damn getting into games issues, locks up and such? I don't see it there, and I feel that shoulda been pushed out first so I can have confidence in the game stability at launch.

Still, gonna have to hit it up to get those other classes unlocked and try the Sabotuer game type.

What's 6PM EDT. Eastern? I'm in mountain time in the USA.

I can't believe you just asked that.

Subtract two hours. It's in 10 minutes.

Yes I did just ask that. I asked if it's Eastern time, which I've 99.99% seen abbreviated by EST, not EDT. Hence why I had to ask. I knew the conversion from here to there if it was EST. :P

Nice. I think it is in 5 minutes?

edit: beaten

The beta is already working better for me since yesterday. No more framerate issues and less disconnections.

Hmmm, I wonder if there's some system limitation preventing them from just completely unlocking everything.

If someone could chime in with how much they (approximately) increased the rate by, I'd appreciate it.

And weaker than an SMG if the colour coded firing range dummies are anything to go by. Let alone that it's about as accurate as throwing a rock.

They are. 3 in each squat (as it is now).

Good. It was possible to go 4/2 before which was awesome if you were in the squad of 4 and real shitty if you were in the squad of 2.

Looks like they just doubled it. Definitely not a system limitation.

edit:
Grenades are still pretty good, lol.

I think Sabo needs a switch sides, at least on a map like pipeline where the spawns are so unbalanced.

edit2:
It's definitely still possible, under the right circumstances, to have 4 people in your squad.

edit3:
nicee you can get split up on separate teams with a party.

That's only if you join in progress, after that match you're back in your own team.

I'd rather wait extra time to find a match with open spots rather than play with my party on the opposing team for a partial match.

Same deal with BF3. Given the choice, I'd take squad intact every single time.

edit: We can't even get into ANY match with 4 players right now.

Not working on PS3. Tried three codes. All taken or invalid. :/

Great news :) so glad they are actually using this a beta and not a demo, im having a blast.

Biggest issue they need to fix is the lag and the array of bugs Future soldier has, the gameplay and the pace is spot on and the modes are quite alot of fun when played in a team.

Silencer on Rifleman Class needs to be punished more by reducing the range alot, this will make it a choice between having it silenced or not. as it stand you still get the best of both worlds with great range and also not showing up on the radar, i really dont want this to be like previous installments when its overrun by silenced weapons only.

Having two engineers on one team constantly lobbing 2 sensor grenades at spawns and objectives can bring a halt to the gameplay, the emp grenades counter it but more often than teams ignore it or run away when detected. needs to be looked into, especially if you have more than 2 engineers going, than your done.

Rifleman class is the most effective and im happy with the balance each class can give, surprisingly the scout class is balanced well and not as annoying as i thought it would be pre beta (still needs testing as i have yet to unlock some vital things)

the stealth attacks have problems registering at close radius and finding the sweet spot to get it activate can be frustrating, but this is probably due to the lag and it taking a long time to register.

just tipping more cents into the jar :) i hope they take this feedback into consideration.
