The Giant Bomb Quick Look Thread 2

So soulless.

Must be terrible being stuck working on such a game. It'll never amount to anything, it won't sell well, it won't review well, it won't look great on anyone's resume, it doesn't look like anyone had fun making this game (except maybe the UI designer).

Just dull from start to finish.

edit: I do think it's pretty funny that it has a much snazzier and cooler looking UI/upgrade menu design than God of War III, though. :lol

Hey, I have an idea. Now that them and Tested are no longer under the same roof, they can do QL of iOS games. Right? Right!?

Meh, there's simply too few iOS games that would warrant QL time imo :S Besides no one except Patrick seems to have any interest in mobile gaming over there.

There's not a lot, but there are some like Ravenmark, and it would help on slow release weeks.

I'm in the same position as Brad. I bought this for iOS when it came out but never played it.

Ahaha me too. But that's because I got stuck and didn't feel like figuring it out or looking up a guide. I think I'll skip this Quick Look since I have it on Steam and I'd rather play it without spoiling myself. I bought it twice, I might as well experience it the right way.

The camera in Bloodforge is seriously the worst I think I've seen. That's the only time I've been nauseous from a video.
I concur. The shitty image quality and the way the game seems to suck the light out of the room almost made me hurl.

This is somehow worse than Turok 2's infamous vomit camera.

What a horrible mess of a game.

I just finished it a few weeks ago, having bought it but never played. It's a fun game although not without it's share of issues, namely some of the boss battles can get a little frustration (all of the repeating animations, Jesus).

Man, I loved fighting Ganon in Ocarina of Time and deflecting his energy orbs with my shield!

I swear Patrick is just saying wrong things on purpose at this point. I like the guy, but goddamn does he remember shit wrong a lot.

Go to 1up if you want your references to be correct xD.

And fact checking in your brain while recording something while playing a game ain't the easiest.

Is it just me or is the video quality really bad on that witcher quick look even on HD? Well, fuck it, more Witcher is good no matter video quality.

(S&S QL spoiler)
Effing what, I totally didn't know you could
fight the statue thing during the escape
. I just
ran the fuck away!

Looking forward to this. I'm coming to the realization that I may be a Witcher 2 fanboy. I have to resist the urge to defend it against every criticism.

Vinny: "You're already dead."

Yeah, I felt the arm wrestling and fighting stuff was strangely simple, but sometimes it was nice to do something simple to cross an item off my quest list, haha.

The way Tricky plays games makes me physically ill. He runs around aimlessly at the beginning of basically every Quick Look he does. Had to stop watching Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery & Xenoblade because of that and the Witcher 2 QL starts off the same way.

Haha, if watching Tricky play S&S made you ill for that reason, you'd probably end up in a coffin by the time you were done watching me play it.

It's a manner of motoric restlessness (rather close to the classic ADD motoric restlessness). Unpleasant in a line of work such as this, especially to the viewer.

If you have watched more video reviews or quick looks of this ilk, you have most definitely seen that some people would rather let the game idle for a while and explain stuff using their words, not thumbs.

It could be worse. He could be fumbling around in menus for 10 minutes of a 20 minute quick look.

Love hearing Vinny babbling like a crazy person. He's absolutely right about the skill trees and meditation, unless they changed that in pc EE as well.

It's so weird that this version feels like... say a psp port of a ps2 game? It plays the same but stuff are cut because they had to be.

Quick Look: Bloodforge (Jeff/Brad/Crom - 45:08)

Not to be all criticizing the way they play in a quick look again, but it's astounding to me that when the boss lowered his gaping head down to the ground in the universal gesture for "it's time to hit my central weak point," Jeff just kept wailing away on his fists.

edit: oh they kind of figured it out. though it didn't seem particularly effective. Great game!

Yeah and earlier when Jeff got lost he seemed to at first be oblivious to the blood trail that was pretty much a directional guide.

I didn't even notice that part because I couldn't watch the parts where he was walking around without starting to feel sick. Some great art direction decisions in that game. Dark-ass vignetting, can't-see-shit textures, and wobbly ass camera for no reason. Looks like a real pleasure to play.

He hit it a couple of times and it took so little off, may as well have been hitting the fists.

The creators were obviously geniuses. They wanted to make a game that no one would want to play.

Patrick and Brad better be careful with that Shattered Memories love. A SH fan is liable to make a 5-hour video rebuttal to them explaining how it's actually an unplayable abortion hoisted upon innocent True Silent Hill fans.
Is this just a thing crazy Silent Hill fans think or is it actually a polarising game?
I'm following a Silent Hill 1 LP and a lot of the people leaving comments have been saying Shattered Memories is shit, but I remember it being well received all around when it came out.
