The bad thing is that this movie has so many great scenes, but I don't want to spoil it here. :/
Captain America was ass. Haven't seen Thor.
Saw the movie yesterday with some friends and I couldn't stop laughing at some really bad decisions. It wasn't a bad movie, it was fun but wow there was a lot of shit that made no sense whatsoever.

How effective are they with giving the characters roughly equal screen time?

For the four characters that had their own films, it was pretty fair. But I think Iron Man probably came out top and Captain America probably had least.
I hope not very. Renner, Johannson, Ruffalo and Evans need to be on screen a LOT less than RDJ and Hemsworth.

Why the hate for The Ruffalo?
Speaking of, how did he fare in the movie, for peeps who have seen it? Does he make a good Banner?

Ruffalo is a good Banner I think. I liked him more than Eric Bana and Ed Norton at least. Definite best protrayal of Hulk so far though.
No hate. And I guess I shouldn't judge him beforehand as Hulk.
But the other three? Evans had his crummy movie and no one cares about SugarTits and PugFace's characters.
For me, he was one of the best things about the film. Loved his take on the character. But I was already a pretty big fan of the actor.
He was my favourite Banner out of the three semi-recent Hulk films.

Is the 3D worth it?

An excellent Banner. I'd rate him above both Bana and Norton.
Bixby is still the king?
I thought Ruffalo was kinda underwhelming, to be honest. He seemed a little uncomfortable with the role.
The biggest laugh in my screening was whenfunny stuff.Hulk grabbed Loki mid sentence and threw him around the place!

I think that's the way he wanted to play the role. Like a drug addict who wants to come clean, as someone pointed out in that interview with Whedon a few posts ago.

What does this mean for a tracking newb?
This movie is going to make a lot of money opening weekend.
If any filmmaker was serious about 3D they'd shoot native. I hope Gravity is the exception. Is the 3D worth it?
Just an estimate. It could go either way based on the presales in the next few days but I doubt they will drop off a cliff. What does this mean for a tracking newb?

Ah interesting. That's about what I expected, certainly for Hawkeye, at least.

I've always thought Hulk's a boring character and I hated the Ang Lee movie, not seen the Norton one... anyway, I thought Ruffalo was great. That's the first time I've liked Banner/Hulk, and Banner's 'big moment' line at the finale was goosebumps material. I'll not go further in case of spoilering.
