"HATERS GONNA HATE"

Dat ass.

This was probably discussed and answered but when Cap was doing some investigating on his own he found some kind of black suit and helmet/mask or am I mistaken?
Wait, what? I must've missed that.

I agree with the age part. Chris Evans looks too young to be believable. It made sense in the Captain America movie, but now not so much in the Avengers.
lolwut. Steve Rogers doesn't age, FYI.

chris evans was good casting, cant think of anyone i'd prefer really..
Really? He's good, maybe a tad too young and not buff enough, but I can think of others who look the part more, with decent enough acting. I used to hear Mark Valley thrown around a lot;

Maybe a bit too old though.... OR, preferably
Jason Lewis

But what's done is done. Evans is good enough, I just want him to beef up more and for Cap to get more interesting in CA2 before Avengers 2 rolls around and we have ourselves a real genius leader.

Don't read if you don't want to know:

He finds Hydra equipment on the helicarrier. This leads to some tension between Fury and the Avengers.

Name him the Cantoman! Why not just film in Taiwan or even Korea, both are good standins for the Mainland (Korea was used in a ton of Golden Harvest flicks, you can even see Korean extras). Though China would just not the let the movie play, but ah fix it in dubbing and location changes.
It's a co-production with a Chinese company, so somehow Marvel is going to make more money off of it this way, whether it's tax breaks or a larger percentage of the Chinese gross.

I also think that if Marvel does make a Heroes For Hire movie, they'll pull a reverse The Last Airbender, and make Iron Fist Chinese.

:(

To be fair, I was raised on Spider-Man cartoons and video games that had the classic Lizard. There's a reason he kept turning up in them, even as the comics were changing him.

I like the fact they revealed Connor loves being the Lizard, and that is why he is never completely cured.

They had to cast Cap young because Evans is going to be playing the character for about a decade.

That's why I don't understand why Sony went in the opposite direction and hired someone in their late twenties, early thirties to play a high school student. Won't the actor look too old to do sequels?

Well there's a difference there. Captain America movies have to come several years further apart than the Spider-Man movies do, since it's crammed in-between other Marvel Studio movies (Thor, IM, etc).

Plus, an Avengers movie every four years or so; Avengers 3 around 2020. That's nearly a decade. With Amazing Spider-Man, they would have the third movie (if they get that far) out years before then.

It's every 2-3 years. Tentatively, Avengers 2 is 2015 and Avengers 3 is 2017.

I love the fact those that doubted the Avengers are now eating crow.

I enjoyed it about as much as I thought I would. Most of my doubts were confirmed though, with its zero stakes. It's nowhere close to a great movie, but is mostly entertaining if you can forgive the first hour.

Apparently they want Avengers on a four year thing so they can use those four years to introduce new characters. Doctor Strange, Ant Man, Wasp, and Black Panther are all big possibilities for the next movie. Hell, Wasp was in one of the pre-Whedon drafts and he wanted to find a way to keep her in this movie.

Are you sure? I'm thinking 2016 and then 2018-2020 for 3, depending on how many new Marvel Studio movies they plan on fitting before the the third one.

There are several movies they want to get in before the sequel, and with CA2 in 2014, I can't see Avengers 2 coming out a year later; there's no room for new movies. Maybe ONE, but that's not enough.

2016 makes more sense, as they could fit at the very least two, which have been in the works for a while now.. not to mention a Ruffalo Hulk and SHIELD movie.

I've been telling everyone around me that this was a billion dollar plus movie easy since that last trailer hit. With the fan base of each character involved and the reviews that it has now received this will make it over that mark easily now. I even thought repeat viewings from fans always made this a cert if the film was at least decent.

This is right. There's already rumors of a Ruffalo Hulk set for 2015 as they have him signed for six movies. 2015 could be both Hulk and SHIELD in the same summer like last year.

I like both Captain America and Thor. I also liked the Incredible Hulk movie. I don't get the hate for that movie. Actors were competent, story was ok, and it had neat tie-ins and Tim Roth was cool.

It had a decent first act but logical inconsistencies (like almost everything about Hydra) coupled with terrible pacing turned it into a train wreck. Not to mention the emotional climax of the film also had yet another glaring plot-hole, that being that if he had control of the plain there was no need to crash it into the ground, since he easily could have flown in circles until a rescue operation could be attempted. It was just poorly executed, and there were so many examples of complete disregard for historical accuracy that it made the film comical.

It also blatantly betrayed expectations of being at least partly a war film.

It was just a fairly dumb movie with dry characters. In fact it was offensively stupid in parts.

Yea hopefully we'll get a 100% historically accurate telling of the fight between Captain America and Red Skull someday. That was such an important part of our Nation's history...

Just came from a 3D showing. 3D was totally unnecessary, but there were no 2D showings anywhere near me. Oh well...

Movie was good. Don't know but expected a little more after seeing all the raving reviews and the pretty high imdb rating.

Tony Stark and Hulk were the best part of the movie.

Can anyone answer me who the guy after the credits was?

I enjoyed the reintroductions, loved the battle setpieces, laughed loudly on the jokes.
I exited the theater with a "money damn well spent" thought.
By leagues the most enjoyable sitting of Marvel's effort, it left me craving for more heroes and more villains. While it was a movie, halfway through, I wasn't interested in it for that reason anymore.
It was now a window to a world where comics are real (Much like I felt with TDK).
And the Avengers just made me even more thirsty for TDKR. I need more heroes and villains dammit!

Just came back from it. Really enjoyed it. The action was good and all but the sharp dialogue and interactions between the characters is really what made this film. Oh, and the Hulk. Hulk scenes drew the loudest laughs.

Comingsoon.net's prediction is out: $154M
Add to that the Monday numbers for foreign gross:
Gitesh Pandya
#Avengers breaks $200M o'seas in just 6 days w/ $33.1M MON & $218.2M cume w/ US/China/Rus/Jpn still to open.
$33M on a Monday! People are now calling 700M foreign totals .. jeez.
Latest tracking number: 140M

Why does the domestic keep going down? The presales are falling off a cliff? Should I panic???

Just being a comic book film doesn't give it a pass for getting basic details of the time period wrong and some of them are hilarious in that the film even draws attention to them being ignorant (like the Asian guy in the Howling Commandos). You look at Thor, and said film doesn't insult your intelligence on a historical or logical level.

Watched it yesterday, really fun movie.

Hulk totally stole the show.

Maybe places arent selling as many screens like my local theater isn't. They only put up the 2D showing the other day. Maybe people were seeing the lack of choices and are waiting to blitz it opening day.

Who knows. Either way, this will be the biggest Marvel opening ever.
