Hi there. I order a lot, too.

Anyhoo - this would be the same post office that seems to have no problem getting just about anything else I order to me in a good condition and timely fashion? The very same post office that manages to deliver parcels sent to me from 5000 miles away days earlier than parcels (allegedly) shipped on the same day from Zavvi (200 or so miles away tops), and in a much better condition?

Oh and Lol there's actually a GAF Zavvi Defense Force now.

Only because "LOL ZAVVI IS SHIT!" is really, really old now. We get it. You had some bad experiences with Zavvi before. So did some other people. We know.

Stop fucking ordering from them, then. It's not like it's a big secret that people have had problems with them, and if you order from them you know exactly what you're getting in to. Coming back in to the thread just to bitch about Zavvi when you know exactly what to expect before ordering, my god, it's so tiresome.

Yeah, I also hate when people express their opinions. So tiresome. Especially when it takes place on a forum intended for discussion.

At this point, everyone who frequents the CAG thread knows that Zavvi can be hit and miss. If you want to take the risk and order from them, go ahead, but I don't need to hear about it.

You know this, I know this but certainly not everyone knows ordering from Zavvi can be a bit of a crapshoot. I know the risk and will keep buying from them because they often enough in the future because they have really good deals often enough, but I know several friends who have been burned by them before and will not give them the light of day again. They only casually frequent threads like this or have only heard from Zavvi through other people who have had no bad experiences in the times they dealt with them.

Having people report legitimate issues with the company only serves to inform people and may actually cause the company to step up to salvage their image and thus sales. If you go by "oh everyone knows they're iffy so don't talk about it" there is a) no such pressure b) people will start to assume the company is better than it actually is.

Then don't read it. It's not like you're forced to read through every single sentence of every single post in a thread. Unless you're a mod, telling people what they can and can not post is not your prerogative and does not motivate fruitful discussion and social environment.

Unless I am mistaken, this still is the deal thread. There is/was a separate thread on how zavvi/thehut sucks and everything. You're free to post your complaints a million times over and over there.

Hell, even the first post states:

Irish and UK Gaffers have had fewer bad words to say. If you are from Europe, and want your preorder near day 1, then go elsewhere.

My Mortal Kombat Vita didn't arrive on release day, and still has yet to arrive. I sent two emails after that period, both of which saying I should wait 10 days from day of dispatch before making a claim.

Emailed on the 11th, they told me to wait until the 16th :/

Emailed on the 16th, no replay.

First time using simplygames, I'm not impressed.

Mh, I thought they also ship via UK/other EU states if you order from mainland EU and the price is over 25€ or something.
There was a news about it at least, I hope that didn't change again or I will likely have to pick up my MGS CE from the customs office...

This is a "deals" thread not a "whine about other shit that has nothing to do with this" thread.
 
The bad things I've heard about them rarely stem about shipping though. One friend ordered Blazblue Calamity Shift, but got the first game instead. He wanted to send it back and get the right game but the best they could offer him was a 7 pound voucher.

Another ordered Gears of War 3 at release data and to this day hasn't received the game. Took more than two months or something for them to send a form declaring it lost and fix things from there, but they never did. I feel that people posting what happened after they paid for one of the deals in this thread does relate to the discussion. If a mod feels this isn't the place for it or it is disruptive some clarification would be nice.

First of all, there are many post offices involved, the post offices between 2 orders from different stores won't be the same. Secondly, do you pay 1pounds for shipping on those 5000 miles away orders as well? It depends on the price, you know. If I pay 100EUR for shipping, I will get it on the next day. Hell, I could even get orders on sunday. Also as example: I had ordered some books from yesasia mid april. When did they arrive? mid may. Shipped from Hong Kong. Do I complain? No. Because I used free shipping. I mean I get it if you wait for 1 month for an order to dispatch. That is indeed a Zavvi problem. I don't like it either. But complaing about the shipment taking too long, although you pay 1pound for shipping only and you refused to use Zavvis express shipping (which of course costs more than 1pound)? Give me a break.

And in my case, most of those typical 2 weeks delivery time are not even post office related, but customs related. I even had to get my Valkyria Chronicles order from the customs office.

Yes, they do. But only on more expensive orders. I think it were 25pounds or even more. Definitely not just 25EUR. The poster above ordered cheap arse games, so they will get shipped from outside EU of course.

I mean I ordered Xenoblade SE from thehut and received it on 26th april, shipped 19th april and it was shipped from within EU. Pandora's Tower LE from hmv was shipped 3 days earlier and even arrived 4 days later. So much about other shops being faster. And I even paid 250% shipping fees in comparison to zavvi. Hopefully MGS LE will get shipped from within EU as well, I want to avoid customs.

Ok i'll admit the first post was a few weeks ago, but the second post was only 4 days ago and is just 4 pages back (Most of those pages were posts discussing the MGS LE from Zavvi)

Surely if people are either looking for a deal or thinking of posting one its worth checking posts from at least the past week? Or should we all just post the same deals again every few pages?

Not trying to be funny - just not sure if there is a better solution :/ Perhaps some sort of current deal 'sticky' at the top of the page which shows the best deals found in the last 7 days? (Dont know who would maintain it though)

This is a good idea.
This thread moves quickly (for which I love you all!) which does mean it can be quite easy to miss out if you don't visit constantly.

that was keyser's intention but i think he abandoned it

edit: a better idea would be a community google doc, where everybody contributes, just make the link hidden in email tags so no hukd or abuser finds it (atleast not all of them)

My local NHS told me that they offer mail-in Chlamydia tests, and apparently you still get £10 HMV vouchers. Head on over here.

Did this twice in two years a few years ago and got my vouchers. Just about made it in the age requirement now (between 16-24).

Morrisons are selling 3000 Wii points at £5 a pop. Considering that the standard price is £10 for 1000, that's pretty damn good.

They're actually selling all Wii points for £5 each. They come in 1000, 2000, and 3000 denominations. But obviously, 3000 are the ones to look out for.

It's a nationwide thing, as I heard about it on HotUKdeals, checked my local store, and picked up six lots of 3000.

Ha! I was a bit surprised it was so huge too. The art book is gorgeous. A proper, beautiful hardback; not a tiny pathetic little pamphlet (I'm looking at you DX:HR Augmented Edition and ME3 N7). They must have learned their lesson from when the MGS HD collection launched. They stuffed it in a tiny box and everyone moaned when it arrived damaged (rightly).

To be fair on Zavvi they haven't been as bad as expected for me lately.

MGS was packed well and was in perfect condition.

I've also been waiting on Rayman Origins Vita for about a month. So long, in fact, that my credit card expired while I was waiting. I updated the new CC info on the site, but they were unable to change the order to use the new card ("it's a problem with our system"). Zavvi then cancelled the order and told me to re-order it.

All well and good you would think except that I had ordered for £17.99 and Rayman's now selling for £27.99. I phoned up and complained enough that they gave me a £10 credit.

So. Poor on delivery time and being unable to change payment type. But they did do the right thing in the end! Which is more than I was expecting when they started going on about cancelling my order.

Back on topic. ASDA are doing pre-orders for Gravity Rush on Vita @ £25. Decent price given that most Vita titles haven't dropped much yet.

I appreciated this too, art-books would be the draw for me buying any collectors edition, unfortunately (or is that fortunately?) they are largely superfluous and not worth the effort.

I was extremely happy with the MGS book, and then I saw the Japanese one :(

I check Zavvi regularly to see if the PS3 version is available, and I have not noticed it when I checked yesterday! Thank you kind sir :P gonna wait to see if it's getting Mega Monday deal, if not I'll just order it
