343i just took a giant dump on Bungie. It's been a long time since I've been this excited for Halo.

This is the direction and new soul the franchise needed. I can't fucking wait.

David Ellis says it's tonight on Spike and that program starts at 9 PM CST which is the start of the last hour of the Sony conference.

Need some more confirmation here.

I wonder how many new enemy types there will be

Want to have a "hunter" moment where you have a really freaky looking foe and no real idea how to kill him

Hunters were very fun in halo (halo 2 and 3? Not so much)

I always thought Halo's strong point was level design, and the level design of that forest level looked hideous. Usually halo is about going from one open arena style environment to the next, while the forest level was just one big unnatural corridor with a couple of roots to use as cover like a call of duty level.

I'm not hitting the panic button or anything just noting that the one level they showed at that conference doesn't look to exciting. Hopefully its just the one level or just what they had to throw together for e3 demo purposes. The other stuff looks great.

im a modest halo fan but imo graphically it looks good but the bar is so high now that i wouldnt put it past games like crysis 3, resident evil 6, farcry 3, etc

also why do the enemies look like they're from lego bioncle >_<

Sony conference is only an hour, no? It should start right after the conference ends
No no... the sony conference ends at 10 PM CST here. The E3 all access show on Spike starts at 9 PM CST here. So, the Spike show starts before Sony's conference ends.

There are sections like that in all Halo games. Reminded me of a prettier Sierra 117 from Halo 3.

Cortana looks as annoying in this as she was in 3. Wish you could turn off her yammering.

Also not impressed by the new robot enemies, pretty boring. Wish we got new aliens instead.

1. Cortana was awesome. Didn't seem bothersome at all. The little video feed would be annoying, but thankfully it looks like it only pops up in cinematics.

2. I'm pretty sure we'll see some kind of new organic enemies. At the very least the head honcho will be organic, I imagine.

I believe Frankie himself said that the level we saw was a squashed down variant purely for demo purposes. The actual level will contain more 'air' or something. He as a weird way with words :p

Basically, what we saw was to showcase specific sandbox elements and to do that they had to script things and cut down other things (such as open level design).

Either those sections were really small compared to the rest of the game, or they were forgettable and I've forgotten about them.

No way. Cortana looked great. I love her and Chief talking back and forth. Love the little screen in the HUD too. Can't wait.

Basically all of Sierra 117 was like that. Beautiful jungle with gorgeous, lush, organic... hallways. Definitely not the best Halo level, but still fun.

I never cared about Halo, still don't, but I'm glad to see that finally the game looks really really great graphically. Halo 3 was horrible, especially the characters. Now at least it has art worthy of being such a leading franchise. Halo 5 should look pretty damn amazing.

There were some great sections of Sierra that really broke up the combat arena into interesting battles. Especially the last area of Sierra 117.

Holy shit do you doofuses not understand what a gameplay demo is? Moreover, a demo from one of the first levels in the game? It's supposed to ease players into combat with a new enemy. They aren't going to drop you off in some huge hub world with multiple paths.

I swear, all of you bitching about corridor level designs obviously never played "Pillar of Autumn" from Halo 1 or "Sierra 117" from Halo 3. They're really linear, much like the one showcased here in Halo 4, and SHOCK, they're the opening levels in their respective games. Stop being so fucking dense.

EDIT: I see I'm not the only voice of reason in this thread.

Dude dont bother, let people sit in the ignorance seat they put themselves in.

This actually looks a lot better than I expected. It looks nice, I was expecting a half hearted cash in, I was proved wrong. Might have to buy this.

Admit it. You forgot the name of Cairo Station.

looks like carrying a shield will lower your walking speed.
assassinating grunts are in lol.
spotted classic weapons like the needler and rocket launcher.

overall, not much was shown, barely 2 mins of footage and they were quickly cut together.

Good look at the updated carbine. I booked a Needler too.

I wasn't expecting it to be so short, but damn it looked good.

I wasn't sure when I first saw it, but it looks like there's some kind of tackle execution.

I love the way all the forerunner tech has parts that don't physically touch. Everything from the weapons to the armor just floats together, so awesome.

I'm just imagining the reactions of people going in dark and encountering those drones for the first time.

*Goes for a stick*

*Drone catches it and THROWS IT THE FUCK BACK; NAH BITCH, YOU IN THE BIG LEAGUES NOW*
