That German team illustration is quite disturbing, like something out of a nazi propaganda book.

Don´t wan´t to offend any Germans, love the country and the people, but that´s just the first impression i got.

I think that's all in your head to be honest. You would not say that if this had been any other national team similarily depicted. I don't see anything but happy germans and the implication that the entire nation is behind their team.

Yes we are! Belgium VS Holland always fun :p

My favorite midfielder in Europe at the moment is Witsel, love how he plays. Looks like Mourinho has made it a priority to sign in for Madrid.

Seems Belgium is churning out some very high quality prospects these last few years, has there been some kind of revolution in how youth development is handled compared to other times?

Welp, it was created for a beer brewer and is being auctioned off for a South African charity: http://www.edufootball.org/home/

Here's their ad with the same narrative, aka. "everyone, get behind the national team while drinking our beer"

I hope that asshole is getting a beat down in prison. Crazy it's been 10 years already since that world cup. Very fresh memories of that match.

The Italian diving and the Vieri miss lost them the match. The only thing wrong with that tournament was Blatter's pandering to European countries' arrogant sense of superiority, Guus Hiddink had built a strong team who were playing in their home country and they deservedly reached the semi-finals with hard work and some real inventive football in open play.

Not really, we just got lucky with this generation. To bad they can't seem to play as a team and we have no decent striker. Most of our team is really good individually, but in the team they're shit. Might be the coach's fault though.

Yeah i know, just that my father is a big WW2 buff and has too many books occupying too much space, which i devoured when i was a kid.

The art style reminded me of
Anyways, sorry for what i said, was stupid of me ;)

If the things am hearing about Affellay and van Persie are true. WOW

He won't even chip in 10 euros for a birthday present for one of the boys? he's filthy rich for Christ sake

Oh come on...
I love old propaganda, I own half a dozen books on it, and that looks nothing like Nazi propaganda.

How is the art style similar to that?
They both have flags, like 75% of propaganda posters, I'll grant you that...

That picture is nothing like 3rd Reich propaganda. The art style is different and the content does not fit either. The crowd is totally unorganized which would never happen on a Nazi picture and more importantly, everyone is smiling and has a good time.

Are you joking?

That art style looks more like Socialist Realism to me.

we don't know what went on behind the scenes so i wouldn't judge them too quickly.

however this certainly shows that there was 0 teamspirit

I assume most English fans are defaulting to cheering for Germany as they usually do.

No I'll be behind Italy. They've played the most attractive football, in my opinion, and I'm a big fan of many of their players. I'd much rather see Italy flourish than watch a predictable Spain versus Germany final.

England gets bounced yet again, but I bet their EA Sports FIFA team rating is still a ridiculous 5+++++ stars.

Joking about what?

That Italy lost the match because Vieri missed two open goals? or that Italy found the extra time period difficult because Totti was sent off for diving? even though you could tell from the kick off the referee wasn't going to give anything for theatrics.

That was a quality world cup display by South Korea, some of the goals they scored were amazing especially the goal Park Ji Sung scored against Portugal, it was "C Ronaldo-esque".

South Korea were a strong side in the competition, but the usual suspects of the tournament complained when they didn't rollover and let them win.

Byron Moreno? Is that you?

It's so damn stupid that Bendtner has to pay 80.000€ for showing his sponsored underwear and Crotia pays 15.000€ less when their fans are singing racist shit.
You see where their priorities are...

True, sponsors are serious business. But is it just me or has there been more fines this year compared to the previous tournaments?

I just found this beauty in the web:

Or very boring :p

edit: haha, just noticed I got a tag for FRA-SPA. Amazing.

It's sad how they tag for the negatives. All my philanthropic and charity work was brushed aside in order to make out I'm a paedophile. Goddamn sickening.

Looking forward to tomorrow, missing football too much for breaks.

Mods are as neutral as the FRA-SPA referee.
Just kidding, guys.

Wonder if I hit stage 1 at some point and just missed it.

See, I don't know. I would have expected tomorrow/s game to be quite fun, but given that I thought England-Italy would be a snooze-fest...

It's a shame we don't have a mod in FootyGAF, some posters (doicare

) deserve some epic tags.

Gazzetta = The Sun.

According to Dutch media, Bert Van Marwijk stays as coach, but he will drop the following players for the qualification for the WC in 2014:

- Mark van Bommel
- Khalid Boulahrouz
- John Heitinga
- Joris Mathijsen
- Rafael van der Vaart
- Klaas-Jan Huntelaar

Huntelaar and van der Vaart? While van Persie and Robben stay? Ugh. Dutchies please fire your coach, pretty please.

Ronaldo is now the 3rd highest scorer in Euro's with 6 goals. Platini is top with 9 and Shearer second on 7.

He's scored at 5 major tournaments and since October 2010 (start of qualifying) he has 10 goals in competitive internationals, more than anybody else in the world (Gomez - 9, Van Persie 7).

That's a pretty good record. Didn't think Ronaldo was doing as well as that for Portugal.

WHAT THE FUCK?!

Really?

I dunno how others see it, but I think it’s more of an attempt of trying to depict Mario as the King, rather than Kong? Regardless though, it ‘s quite off the mark as he wasn’t the one running the show anyways. Football’s a team sport, and in the case of England vs. Italy, it’s more of the same old case of...

England are donkey shite!

^Still brings me to tears that song lol

What counts as competitive internationals? Didn't Huntelaar score 12 goals for Netherlands in Euro qualification?
