STEAM announcements & updates 2012 Thread 2 - Bad Rats Daily Deal for next 6 months

Can anybody else validate that post claiming large updates for those games? I have a few of them and nothing is downloading, even restarted steam.

Amazon will be selling a Steam-registerable version of Max Payne 3 for 50% (probably $25) in a few days so if there's a sale on that first day, just remember that.

Salsashark I believe. And it will be glorious. So say we all.

dont expect too much visual flair. So far ive always done them with information and ease of access as a main priority. Nothing flashy for folks browsing on slow connections/phones who just wanna know what the daily deals are.

I have my eyes set on only a couple of games, but I'm really pondering about getting LA Noire right now.

I mean, I don't mind losing five bucks since I don't think Dead Island, Amalur or Splinter Cell: Conviction hit $5 during the sales.

...right?

Those all look like games that would typically be involved in a Steam sale, but so far none of those have begun updating for me either.

Hmm, no updates here even after running a few of those games. The linked thread only has 2 people stating that they're received updates. Calling bullshit on this until more reliable sources (gaffers) show up.

Ok, so did we already shared wishlists for the summer sale?

I'm hoping to get Recettear, Alan Wake, Analogue: A Hate Story and maybe Rage, but that's about it.

I have the disc-based version of Arma 2 Combined operations. I may get the Steam version if it gets cheap enough. Automatic updating would be nice and it would keep track of my playtime.

Not sure what I am at all interested in. I guess:

Witcher 2
Ys Oath (I guess)
Rage

Maybe some last gen star wars like KoTOR or Republic Commando.

I just got updates for TF2, the Splice demo, Day of Defeat: Source, and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch. I'm not sure if it's related to anything, though.

Uh wow..

The match is actually in place, the hamsters are just taking forever to get the pricing reflected on site, also we're waiting to get Steam versions for the Rockstar stuff, hopefully in place by Friday.

Cheers,
Tony

P.S. Did I mention Spec Ops the Line for 50% off at the same time?

Just posted this over in CAG. Who's excited for 50% off Max Payne 3 in a couple of days? We'll have both Steam and Non-Steam versions :)

Cheers,
Tony

Only if you call $15 for the game [Syndicate] a sale. Still working out timing on it, stay tuned.

Cheers,
Tony

Those saying the games listed in that SPUF post haven't updated will want to ensure each respective update setting isn't set to "Do not automatically update this game". Out of curiosity, I switched Killing Floor and The Missing Link back to "Always keep this game updated" (why automatic updating was disabled in the first place, I don't know) and they're now both downloading an unannounced update:

I have pretty much all those games listed up to date and selected to be automatic and have not received nothing. Maybe they need to be pushed out to more content servers, or maybe just old updates.

Nobody ever truly knows what they want from a Steam Sale. Instead, let the invisible hand of Gaben guide you.

Pretty sure I'll spend the most on games I have never even heard of before the sales.

The rule for new players is if you ask "is ABC any good?" you have already bought it.

I thought the same thing and looked into the update history of each title, but apparently not: Killing Floor hadn't been updated since last year's Christmas sale and DE:HR hadn't received a single update since release.

During the Christmas/Winter sale, I spent over $100 on the special achievement games alone. In fact, the only such game I didn't buy was King Arthur II, as I didn't want throw away $25 towards a game I knew I wouldn't play after the sale was over.

I mostly just want ArmA II and New Vegas DLCs. Not that I should be so lucky, because my backlog is massive, mostly thanks to all the indie bundles I've picked up for one or two games. There's a lot of stinky deuces festering away in there.

I want those too.

So many people want Arma II. I'm glad I jumped on Arma II: CO for $15 from Amazon.
