we should each post our top ten favourite fighting games. after some thought:
1) Super Street Fighter II Turbo
- perfection to me. a game where knowing the fundamentals of fighting games takes you far.
2) Street Fighter II' Hyper Fighting
- same as ST, but more balanced. however, comes at the cost of less variety.
3) Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike
- quite a different beast from the SF2 series, but still just as fun. parries bring the hype!
4) Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition Ver. 2012
- a good mix between the SF2 and SF3 series, with it's own touch. matches get crazy suspenseful.
5) Fatal Fury Special
- one of the most underrated fighting games ever. if anyone wants to play this on XBLA or GGPO, hit me up!
6) Mortal Kombat II
- I'll admit that this game is broken as fuck, but it's so fun to me. I'll never get sick of playing this one competitively... there's still a community for this one believe it or not.
7) Marvel Vs. Capcom 2
- potentially the hypest fighting game of all time. is so broken that it's balanced..
8) Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3
- sequel to the hypest game of all time. just as hype as mvc2, I guess it just comes down to preference.
9) Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown
- I'd say that Virtua Fighter is kinda like SF2, where fundamentals reign supreme. That's what I like for the most part..
10) Soul Calibur V
- the first Soul Calibur game that I can hold my own in, haha...
Honourable Mentions:
Street Fighter EX 2 Plus:
- this game was too much fun. someone call Arika's ass up and get this re-released on XBLA and PSN.
Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection:
- I've always loved Tekken, but I've always sucked ass in it too. I prefer this game over Tekken 6: BR for some reason, can't quite put my finger on why.
King Of Fighters 98:
- bring back Lucky for fucks sake, ha.
Garou: Mark Of The Wolves
- almost forgot about this one..
Dead Or Alive 3:
- I hope DOA5 can dethrone this game..

Man FChamp makes a tier list for the game every day and every day it's slightly different from the one before. Although I can understand making a tier list after the discovery of the infinites as it does shake things up dramatically.
Edit: So he finally moved Dormammu into top 10 where he belongs.
I think FChamp needs to explain why he always has Hulk so high. I mean he is good in an Upper Mid sort of way but he basically has him in High tier or top 15 category.
Pretty sure Storm went up like 2 spots up on that tier list. And as always the wrong ful shitting on Iron Man continues.

Speaking of character ranks, this popped up after Nemo asked how Japan ranked Nova, as he personally ranks Nova (and Taskmaster) pretty low. Not a full ranking, but it gives you and idea of who they think is strong.
Condor on Taskmaster: He's not a character you pick to win, but he can hold his against such a team. (Nemo agrees with this sentiment. He's not weak, and he is winning.)

In the same boat as you. Matter of fact is there a lap top thread on GAF? I don't know what to get but I saw Sp00ky using a MSI, and I think Sp00ky might know a thing or two about lap tops.
Price isn't really that big of a deal for me as long as it's not ridiculous.
