There is some gameplay in the vid. Sorry if old.

I watch these videos and then think why is NoA making us wait until August 19th?

It definitely needs a prancing horse.

Eurogamer just posted their impressions:
In those shots... all I can see are faces.
In those shots... all I can see are faces.
Fixed for my own opinionsAfter seeing all of these hands-on photos, the color choices are pretty much this:
Red - Alright I suppose
Blue (and White) - OH FUCK TAKE MY MONEY
Silver - Hideous
Do we know how DS games will look on this?
On the 3DS they look like postage stamps, or pixelated messes.
Has anything been done to the XL to make sure the top screen isn't scratched? Not from anything Nintendo's said (I doubt they'll even admit to this happening) but from pictures and hands on experience. Has anyone noticed anything?
1:1 mode approx. DSi screen sizeDo we know how DS games will look on this?

It's got 1:1 DS resolution support
Yeah, but the 3DS XL's screens are much bigger. So in 1:1 mode, the DS game screens will be about the same size as they would be on a DSi.I'm not exactly sure what this means. Isn't 1:1 the "postage stamp" setting on the original 3DS?
That postage stamp gets upfraded to a near-DSi sized picture. It should be much more playable in 1:1 mode.I'm not exactly sure what this means. Isn't 1:1 the "postage stamp" setting on the original 3DS?
Yep. There are little knobs at the top of the upper screen to prevent the screen from getting scratched.

yep think I posted this awhile ago in the other thread, but I'll post it again in this threadYep. There are little knobs at the top of the upper screen to prevent the screen from getting scratched.
The 3DS did have those rubber feet, though. That was such a bad oversight by a company like Nintendo.

with those rubber stoppers resting directly on the raised bezel, it'd be almost impossible for that bezel to come in contact with the top screen.
on the XL in 1:1 mode that "postage stamp" will be roughly the size of the normal DSi screen.
Probably a cheaper way of doing multiple colors, just one base model color for the whole world (...and an extra one for Japan) with simple colored panels to differentiate them. The combination red/blue top with black bottom looks awful..why didn't they just make it completely blue or red?
The iPhone headphones w/volume control use a different setup on the jack (that I'm not sure works other than for iOS devices and Macs) while the old ones w/just mic and clicker use a pretty standard setup that most cell phone headphones have these days.It just dawned on me to try it with mic test in the settings menu. My iPhone earphones with volume and mic did not work. But then I tried my skull candy ink'd earbuds that have a mic (No volume buttons) and they did work.
Guess I have a wired mic for when playing Heroes of Ruin.![]()
Helpful tip for 3DS owners: turn off power saving mode in the brightness settings when you're playing DS and DSiWare games. It removes the nasty washed out look.are the colors of DS software still washed out on the xl? I can't tell from the videos I've seen

Maybe it's just my 3DS but even with the mode off, DS games look a bit washed out compared to my lite.Helpful tip for 3DS owners: turn off power saving mode in the brightness settings when you're playing DS and DSiWare games. It removes the nasty washed out look.
Super bright is the best. Sucks that it's limited only to charging thoughSuper Pro Tip:
do as you have said turn that baby to the highest brightness level and now connect it to the AC adapterto unlock the secret super-bright mode.if you have one
Well, it sucks the batterie dry like nothing. But yeah, would be cool to use it if i wanted to and not just at home.Super bright is the best. Sucks that it's limited only to charging though![]()
Whoa. News to me. I'm gonna go try that right now!Super Pro Tip:

I notice it on my Cobalt DSlite, but nothing too bad. I'd take matte over gloss any day, it's just better and doesn't get slippy when the palms get sweatyReally hoping that the matte finish doesn't end up accumlating that wear/oil looking spots around the d-pad and buttons over time
You guys know what I'm talking about?
One of the reasons that yeah, while impratical sometimes, I prefer a reflective/gloss finish
Well I play almost exclusively at home so it wouldnt be an issue for me :lWell, it sucks the batterie dry like nothing. But yeah, would be cool to use it

No more blow job!

I just can't unsee the Virtual Boy when I see the red XL
