Wow my very first post ever on NeoGaf! Just too bad it's to express disappointment in the choices for Gold/Plat this year. I ended up going with the playing cards (those clear cards mang) but I really wish they would do something like the statue they did a few years ago. Oh well.

I don't want any of these. I love buying games with coins, but I already got Mario Kart when they offered it for coins earlier.

Metroid and Zelda don't interest me. Mario vs DK will never live up to the GBA one.

Maybe I'll get the cards, just so I don't encourage them to offer shitty prizes in order to dissuade lazy Platinum members like myself from even bothering to order them.

Right here, just uploaded them for you. Should all be the highest-res files available. You can press the download all button to grab them. They were from the Nintendo E3 press page, but it seems you can't download the kits from there anymore, or I don't see anywhere to anyways.

As for Kid Icarus art, I haven't seen that one in particular, but you can find others in the High-Res Artwork thread here on NeoGAF, they have tons of great stuff. Here is a link to the latest thread summary, just use it to search for games you'd like the find the art from.

Wait, are all the cards different in the card set? At the very least, it looks like each of the face cards will have unique art (looking at them, I see all the Mario Kings look different). That's pretty cool. At the very least, they look to be very nice cards.

Also, I forget, but do new normal rewards usually pop up around the time that the elite rewards are announced, or is it all random?

hard to predict. I expect there will be new physical rewards at some point this summer. Maybe mid-August.

It sounds like the site is still bugged. People had the same problem the day before when it first came up. Probably should wait a couple days and see. Or try using a different browser on PC or other devices, that seems to work for some people.

Got my cards ordered, two sets actually. My wife was able to use some of my codes over the year to platinum her Club Nintendo too.

It is pretty awesome for us. I have one set for display, and one set to play with.

My wife and I are major card players: mostly Pinochle and Canasta. Also my wife collects playing cards, so having a new set of playing cards for her collection is pretty awesome. She's stoked that this is the year's prize.

The site since the redesign has had bugs where your Elite status was not accurately shown on the front end. Only through the Accounts & Coins can you verify your accumulated coins for the year. This caught quite a few people this past year. The bugs are probably still there, so be wary if you're going to cash in all your surveys at the last minute next year.

They do seem to put up new rewards pretty frequently right before the holidays.

Nintendo on hard times guys, can't afford fancy gifts losing 500 million dollars and over 100% of their stock value in a little over a year. Reggie would have to take a 1 hour pay cut to pay for everyone's figurines or hats.

That would be nice. But frankly, the least they could do is give you dick.

I chose the cards, too. For those doubting them as a collector's item, or just something cool to play with, I'd say don't underestimate them. Plastic playing cards are awesome. They don't really feel like normal pasteboard cards, they're much more fluid in the hand, so they take a bit to get used to. They are extremely durable compared to cards made of other materials. I'm very happy they're being made available.

I imagine it's quite tricky coming up with rewards for this program, both the redeemable ones and the annual elite rewards. You'll notice that almost all of the redeemable rewards are easy to manufacture or cheap to make (i.e., printed items), and they seem to apply this policy to the elite rewards too. The only way they'd consider giving us something like the SNES Classic controller would be if some manufacturer was making them for the US market already, had several thousands available for Nintendo to customize with a Club Nintendo logo or the like, and they could get them at a tremendous rate. Otherwise, you think Nintendo would commission these controllers to be built for this market, have them customized and then gave them all away?

I've liked all the platinum rewards so far, the pins and the hat maybe being my least favorites, but still very much appreciated.

Ordered the cards. Disappointed in the rewards offered when you consider all the awesome regular prizes available in the other CN regions that could have been brought over. Still, when you consider that we could get absolutely nothing, then I guess I cannot complain...

I have always wondered what the calendars are like? Anyone who owns them able to tell me what artwork is on them? Is it exclusive art, or can it be found for download somewhere?

I never played it, (tho I have played and own the actual game) but for me its:

Pins > Posters > Figurine > Calendars > Hat > Cards > Downloadable game.

I actually wished each year that I could've gotten a calendar but the platinum is always just a bit better imo. Maybe next year the platinum will suck (to me) and I can finally get those calendars...mwahaha.

Thought I was gonna go for the posters at first to get my hands on some Kid Icarus swag but ending up choosing the cards instead. Plastic playing cards seem more unique and Pit was hardly my favorite KI: U character anyway.

The PVC statue seems to be the best Platinum gift so far (the one year I didn't make Plat...) but I think the pins and this year's options are way better than the Mario Hat/Punch Out DLC. 2009 had the advantage of choice, which is always nice, but I think I just ended up giving the hat to Goodwill or something. I'll make magnets out of the pins someday and cards are something I'll actually use every now and then.

I doubt you'll be able to find out before you can redeem them. You have until July 31 to redeem and Platinum prizes don't come until late in the year.

Well, I got the cards...

Platinum should've had the choice between the cards, and the posters, AND STILL got 1 game download... c'mon Nintendo those game downloads cost you literally almost nothing.

Also Nintendo should've at least rom hacked those games and added a custom title screen, or a custom sprite... or SOMETHING to make them special for Gold & Platinum members.

Yeah, I sort of agree.

I wouldn't have been disappointed had I only gotten gold this year. I still need Metroid 2 but I have other 3DS priorities... hope that shows up for a month soon

I have a theory about the quality of rewards, one I've had since the very beginning of the NA Club Nintendo. The more potential easy points there are for people to get, the worse the elite rewards for that year. So, when the service first opened, crappy gifts since everyone had this huge backlog of games to register. Most 3DS owners bought theirs this Elite year, which gave the a lot of nice points to register, so again, not so hot Elite prizes. Next year is going to be even worse, with the Wii-U release. But come 2014, we should be getting good gifts once more.

Redeem the gift and you will receive a download code. If it doesn't show up, it should be listed under your order history and they send out an email as well. Go to the eShop, and under Settings/Other from the menu, there should be an option to enter in the code.

i think the cost of the posters has to rival the cost of the cards, and the cards probably didn't come cheap. so whatever size/printing effect has to be pretty decent. just wish we knew what they were.
