Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound - out July 31

Seeing this thread, prompted me to finally invest in a Xbox controller adapter for the PC so I could check out the demo for this on Steam, (bit awkward when trying to play it via keyboard)

I'm confused. Why do you need an adapter? Unless you mean the original Xbox controller which doesn't have a USB cord?

Because you can just plug and play Xbox 360 and later controllers.

Series X controller to use on PC, I tried two different USB ports and all it did was charge the controller, so I decided to get the adapter

I too was confused by the adapter thing. Just assumed he meant a wireless adapter for convenience.

Sounds like your cable might not be capable of transferring data. Either by design (a charging only cable) or the data pins could be damaged/faulty.

yea this game looks WAY better than shadow labyrinth from what im seeing online
Wut. They games aren't even comparable.

The thread title says July 21. Got excited for a second.

The second half of 2025 is stacked with AA bangers.

Shadow Labyrinth
Ninja Gaiden
Shinobi
Marvel Cosmic Invasion
Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree

You can usually just downloaded a program to detect inputs or troubleshoot. Things like software sometimes has to be downloaded with it, or turning off steam input can fix it.

You do you though.

Tried the demo on Steam and it was awesome. Pre-ordered the physical Switch copy but if the performance isn't up to snuff I'll probably double dip on Steam version. But Game Kitchen did solid work on Blasphemous 1 & 2 on Switch so I don't doubt them releasing a stellar Switch version.

I ended up getting the adapter, after some initial issues at first it soon enough synced up, never have I ever had the need to play controller based games on the PC...(it's mainly point and click games I use the PC for..) but anyway, glad I got to check out the NG demo....definitely on my radar, (I don't usually consider Ninja Gaiden games, but this one maybe an exception.)

Man, I messed up my schedule and was all psyched to download this today...

Just 10 more days until, at last, a new 2D Ninja Gaiden :messenger_bicep:

It's ridiculous how long we had to wait for this. Are there any preorder bonuses for this? I know Shinobi has some.

Nah. No preorders. No marketing whatsoever other than the demo at Nextfest. If it wasn't for the eShop we wouldn't even know the price. Weird.

Punished Miku Punished Miku you're doing the lord's work my friend. This game looks so amazing and the Blasphemous duology is hands down some of the best 2D games of this century. I am insanely hyped for this game and I hope it delivers!

Punished Miku Punished Miku You are going to make the OT, right? :messenger_relieved:

I won't be able to play it on day one since I'm in the middle of KCD2, but I really look forward to play this one just after that.

No way bro. I'll ride it out in the review thread if nothing else. I'm usually on my phone and specialize in shitposts and can't really do good OTs.

I can't remember the last time someone was counting down to a game in a release date thread like you are now. You have to do the OT. No one else has the passion. I mean, I do. But, I also blow at creating things. Including this post.

Still no price listed on Steam. The demo surprised the hell out of it. I expected a weak cash-in, but this actually had soul. Plays the way nostalgia goggles remember the OG NES games. Exactly what you'd want in a release like this. I pray they don't commit seppuku like the new Contra release by pricing it horribly.

Hoping for $19.99.

Not sure what the consensus is on what people want but that feels super fair.

$25 on Switch eshop. Same as Blasphemous 2.

There's going to be guest music tracks from all composers of NES Ninja Gaiden 1-3.
$25 I'd consider a good price. The closer you get to $30, the more I wait for a sale. $40 and I'm out unless there's an obvious above-average effort for a game like this. This is where Contra and Prince of Persia messed up. $25 is good enough for an impulse purchase based on my time with the demo. Good move.

This one isn't new, but I haven't seen it posted before: press footage beyond what's in the public demo:

Gotta love the remix of Stage 4-2 of the original NG @11:08. That song has always rocked and this version sounds sweet!

Also there's a blog post about the art and character designs as well:

No, it's a linear game with distinct levels, like the original games

Nah, not everyone. PG is a trash-tier developer so zero faith in this game.
Exactly. I keep seeing the trailers and thinking "wow, this has nothing to do with Ninja Gaiden." The closest to that level of bombastic was the Eclipse Scythe in NG2. All I'm seeing are these massive, oversized, stupid weapons - everything taken to the top, just like with all of Platinum's titles - and nothing of NG's precision, timing, or skill. Just pure bombast.

A 2D sidescroller seems okay, but it's not really my thing anymore.

The demo to me just felt like The Messenger but without any humor.
I'll probably get it during some deep sale someday, just like I did for The Messenger.

It's certainly more serious than The Messenger, but I am sure it was one of their influences. I think it's very different outside of the one shared movement mechanic. Which was probably the best innovation they introduced in that previous game. The time travel/graphic toggle was cool, but it wouldn't make much sense in this context.

This has Ninja Gaiden-style cinematics, better graphics, other combat features and isn't a Metroidvania. That said, the demo didn't let us check out the shop, yet from previews it looks like there's a fair amount of additional customization to unlock through that option. While I will buy it on day one, I also want to check out reviews to know how it comes together.

I'm really excited for this one, because Ninja Gaiden has been one of my favorite gaming franchises since 1989. What I find puzzling though, is that it isn't available for pre-order on the PS Store yet. I fully understand that preorder = bad, but I still want this day one.

Now if only KT would get around to authorizing a new 2D Rygar adventure! Maybe they will, if this game does well.

I hate that there is still no info on switch 2 enhancements. Like yea i get that the graphics are pixel but i would like for it to not be 720p handheld on a switch 2.....

Yeah for real. I'd rather play it on Switch, but the screenshots I saw for the Switch version look worse than PC even though it's only 2D sprites.
