And the only thing worse than the hat imo is the Punch-Out minigame.
A big part of why I hate the hat is the utter lack of presentation. The other two rewards since came in wonderfully tasteful packaging, while the hat was stuffed in a plastic bag. Terrible. It's also a shitty hat, btw.

Will have to think about it, I only really want the Platinum Zelda Poster from that set (but it's an awesome poster). The cards look really sexy though

That was my favorite reward. I actually used it as part of a Mario costume for Halloween that year (I'm a big guy with facial hair, so it was a pretty easy costume).
The statue and pins were cool too. I actually really like the pins. They came in cool packaging.
This is the first year that I didn't like the rewards. I'm warming up to the cards though, even if I'll probably never use them.

I'm highly considering sending the cards to a certain member I already PMed, is it indeed possible to specify where the item is sent? Do I have to change my own address info prior to picking the item, or will it ask right then where to send it?

When you order an item it asks where you want to ship it to, I'm pretty sure. Just get the address info from the guy and enter it in when asked. That should work

Looks like a conversion rate of ~ 1 coin for every USD spent (if you're buying product at full RRP).
If you're an absolute cheapskate, you could buy 55 $2 DSiWare games to earn 550 coins to use to redeem for five 100-coin games to get another 50 coins: Platinum status for $110 (but probably 10 hours of your time doing surveys, which probably isn't really worth it when you think about it, not to mention the time wasted playing those mostly mediocre $2 games).

That is correct. A true cheapskate like me waits for bomba prices on the stuff they want and still hits Platinum.
I think the best deal I ever got was finding someone on kijiji selling 7 top-notch Wii games for $80. 5 were first party and the codes hadn't been registered. I sold 5 of the games for $80 and kept 2. So I wound up with 300 Club Nintendo coins and 2 games for nothing but a little bit of my time.

You could probably just wait and buy the platinum rewards for less than that. I'm pretty sure I've seen people selling the pins from last year on here for like $15.

Conflicted between choosing The cards or the calendar. I like the art on the calendar more, and I have no real use for the cards, but I feel like cheating myself by getting a Gold reward after painfully accumulating just enough points to reach Platinum. Plus the calendar will feel and be literally outdated after a year.
So I'm begrudgingly going with the cards I guess. Don't think I'll bother getting platinum again.

If all you wanted was the platinum reward, that is cheaper and less work, but you're not getting any games to play in the process. Presumably most people interested in the platinum reward are going to be buying some games anyway and be part way to platinum status. If I didn't have enough to reach platinum I would probably sooner buy the PINs off eBay to reach platinum and also get to redeem the coins for something too: if you intend-to-buy everything and manage to find the codes on eBay in the first 30 days for early registration, the coins could add up pretty fast.
